Katy Perry #3 and Scarlett Johnsson #2? Lana could rip their weaves off any day of the week in my book.

The idea sounds perfect but I'm pretty sure she'd just be accused of ripping off Beyonce. Also we got Tropico so I don't think we can expect her to do anything massive any time soon (and then there's also the risk of it being cringey/crappy)

Well in HDB she says "you turn my mood from black to blue"
To me, I consider black to be a color that represents a mood worse than blue. Like, not depressed, but possibly suicidal (or something equivalent). Although blue is typically associated with feeling sad, in HDB I think she considers feeling blue a hell of a lot better than feeling black. I'm not much for crazy analyzing Lana's lyrics, but I think she was implying that even though Jimmy's ultra-violent swing and the way he treated her mean (making her feel blue), was a lot better than when she was feeling nothing at all (black)

    Does this make any sense?

This shows how transparent Lana is, and it validates the reason why I give her such praise for her songwriting. The girl is, in my opinion, a musical genius. She has so many layers, and I like that she is able to articulate it through her writing. This constant use of the word "blue." I would have never thought of it. Work, Ultraviolenc3.

I had these days 2 friends, not Lana's fans, bringing up this subject.
She didn't commit any crime, nor offended anyone. If she decided it's for her own benefit, it's fine with me.

Maybe, Lana is testing us, asking,  "Will you still love me, when I am singing at Kardashian wedding?"
So, those who find this a reason not to like her anymore, are not worthy anyhow.

Ultraviolence is by far the best of all yet known tracks of the album. I also liked the new vibes of West Coast but Ultraviolence has something special and a lot of potential. It remembers me of her old songs.

After West Coast and Shades of Cool i was a bit skeptical especially because if love Born to Die so much. But now im fully convinced Ultraviolence gonna be mindblowing.

My username is becoming more relevant  I think I prefer Ultraviolence over Shades of Cool lyrically, some parts are really good.

I just love all the cross-references to her other songs. I didn't get the HB references at first, but after listening to it a few times I did. Also, SOC is very similar to Backfire which is one of my favs.

The crowd's reaction during the bridge is literally giving me life! It's exactly how I felt when I heard the bridge for the first time. And thank god there doesn't seem to be a part with inaudible vocals and too loud guitar solos.

The fact that her unreleased material leaked doesn't mean she can't reuse lyrics/melodies/whatsoever or rerecord it. I know Ultraviolence features lyrics from older songs, but we shouldn't complain since we weren't meant to hear them in the first place...

btw, I love the Video Games reference:

West Coast was totally different sonically from anything she's released, but I kinda like how Ultraviolence and Shades of Cool both take good ol fashioned Lana strings and then mix them with some rock oriented psychedelic shit. Now I understand how she could possible compare it to MDM and Blue Jeans.

So did she just reuse unused clips from the West Coast video shoot, or did she shoot several vids in one go

God I love it. Seriously, that is the first of the new songs I love genuinely.   Lana, thank you so much. I nearly cried hearing Ultraviolence.
You killed all my doubts about his era. This is fantastic. I love you Lana. I love you.

Cola, BB, WC, And SOC are all about Barrie. I'm sure there are more songs about him too on Ultra.

Also, I don't think Ultraviolence is an old song--I think it's relatively newer (definitely post-BTD), so she has to have a reason for putting it on the album. Not only that, but making it the title track! I think it's about being haunted and surrounded by the former love of her life (Jimmy, who is on tour with her). How that must feel? It must be strange seeing those old strong emotions going no where, and so as to respect the former relationship, she doesn't want to just let them did. But at the same time, she is in a stable relationship with Barrie. How must this contradiction of emotions between two people feel? Ultraviolent.

It's ultraviolent to be touring around with the person she used to love, especially while she's in another relationship.
It's Ultraviolent to love someone with depression (Barrie).
It's Ultraviolent to be misunderstood, mistaken, and lied about (in terms of her career launching off from a bad SNL performance and a preconceived notion of who she is that most people mistakenly have for her).
It's Ultraviolent wanting to live a wild, crazy and free lifestyle while being in the public eye (aka sacrificing some of who she is in offer to fulfill others' expectations).
It's Ultraviolent to fear failure after putting so much work and effort into something--fearing that it won't be appreciated like she wants it to be.

I think that all together, THAT is what Ultraviolence is.

Um, the song seems to sing about two people.. she refers to Jim in third person and in the past, but then she's speaking to someone in first in the present/future.

The part were I said Obama does more TV Celeb Shows then speeches from the White House didn't give you a clue?  well it's quite simple in my mind and was actually a topic of discussion back in the day in LDR BRA.  Obama has a twitter, goes on Celeb shows, invites celebs to official events. Oprah was responsible for 10% of his votes. The power of information are changing and with that the power of WHO can elect you also changes. A celeb today can influence your habits a lot more then just the clothes you buy, the perfume you use or the cream you want.

When you have 20 million followers in your twitter you have 20 million of instant listeners. Why Beysus the one so close to the president is so behaved? Do you think was by chance she was the one to (lip) sing the anthem? How many followers Beysus have? how many she gain after that?

National Anthem is a representation of US society and Politics as it is today. The fact JFK and MM was used is a way to remember you how it could have been or how it was. Look at A$AP behavior on the video, look how pretty yet a empty vassel he's character is. Look at Lana and those multiracial kids, her classy clothes, her "mascara" in contrast with her cheap ghetto behavior.

Look at A$ap and his grill and chains. Is Show Business getting into politics, is the new society. The celebrity couple is the president and the first lady. Yet neither knows much.

Celebs always had influence but never this instantaneous, this powerful and this much. Just look at how many followers the presenter of the National News on BBC and CNN have and you will see  and compare them to any major pop singer. Wanting or not the celeb you follow is indeed one way you get informed. This is obviously talking about US.

No but you guys really do too much about her lyrics. A verse like "Do you like my fake nails, daddy? / Black palm tree, pink tiger stripes / Used to go to the Comfort Inn, yeah / Will you buy me a slice of cherry pie?" would get ripped to shreds if we'd never heard it and it popped up in 2014 with her deep ass voice and big lips. But no she wuz Lizzy she wuz poor how cute she tried then (?). Not to say Paradise doesn't have some shit lyrics but Brooklyn Baby is not the battle to fight

Regarding this "Lana cheats on Barrie/Barrie cheats on Lana" discussion: open relationships DO work. You can be emotionally faithful to someone and still have sex flings with other people.

Date me Lana, I am not jealous at all.

Okay, this is going to be a bit of a stretch here, but is it at all possible that the Jim she is referring to in this song, is not a person, but Jim Beam whiskey? We know she has a penchant for writing about her first love, alcohol and this could really fit. "He hit me and it felt like a kiss" could easily refer to her drinking too much and the aftermath of blacking out, but at the time it felt good...like a kiss. "He hurt me, but it felt like true love" could also fit into the alcohol theory. When you're an addict and totally dependent on alcohol, drugs, etc you don't realize how much pain it brings you. Like I said, I could be completely off with my theory, but I don't think this is a song pertaining to Jimmy Gnecco.
