Any significance in her not posting to the vevo account? Not tracking every comment so don't murder me if someone already asked. Thnx

The song is better than the preview lead us to believe, that's for sure. It has an unique atmosphere and her voice is building a desperate climax of the song. Everything works for me but I still need a song with a very distinct melody, that's what I'm looking for next single.

Also the fact she posted on her personal account means this could be a buzz single just like Video Games and then MTWBT is the real first single with a huge video.

Sleepy, but beautiful. (Though that is perhaps her laziest DIY style video.)

The tone and timbre of her voice have always been the biggest draw for me. I could probably listen to an entire album of Lana Mmmm-ing and scatting.

And then your entire world comes crumbling down and you are left with nothing? SitarZero...

I still want to find a gas station that has organ music playing in it because i would hang out there all day.

    Utah love, though.

Gas stations are kind of a small-town thing anywhere--I'm in California and I used to spend all day hanging out there when I was little. That was the life (QOTGS being the first of her songs that resonated with me, but that's beside the point.)

i feel like queen of the gas station goes with alabama because down south the gas stations are hangout places

Dance at night back in Alabama from "Pin Up Galore" is the only thing I can think of. I guess that could also be a fantasy, but then we run the risk of everything being a fantasy.

Evil, TPD, Sam Gho, et al. are probably on the right track regarding the Alabama sojourn, but i had a passing thought and just wanted to throw out another possibility just for the hell of it. It's the sort of little detail that often gets overlooked because it's either so obvious or just plain silly: Could it be that she listed Alabama...don't laugh...as a state of mind of sorts? What i mean is maybe it was just a fantasy she had, perhaps she romanticized the south, and she wanted to make her own narrative more appealing, so she fancied herself living in Alabama to give her persona a certain image, to add to this character/art project she was creating. God knows how many false locations i listed on my MySpace music profile throughout the years...

Is Alabama mentioned anywhere else in relation to her past, or did the Alabama talk all come from MySpace? I guess i should have asked that question first. Disregard this if it sounds stupid and implausible. Admittedly, i know little about this sort of stuff.

Where did you see 2006? At least through December 17, 2007, she always listed New York-area locations as where she's from. However, by January 16, 2008 she starts listing Alabama and continues to do so at least through March 23, 2008. At least as early as May 9, 2008 she starts listing New Jersey. This corresponds pretty well with a big gap in her performance history between November 14, 2007 December 5, 2007 and June 18, 2008 where she didn't have any shows that I know of. It's quite plausible she spent several months in Alabama during this time.

the only "real" titles we know for sure are

    Bad Disease - Jesse
River Road - last.fm scrobbled in 2006, same track length as Next To Me
Out With A Bang - Jesse
    Junky Pride - LiZzI's PaGe
A Star For Nick - radio podcast

because they were streamed online a long time ago under these titles according to Jesse

Yeah, I think it's a distinct possibility some of these songs could be on those discs she registered with the US Copyright Office.

"From the End" may actually be another album. It's the name of one of two discs on file with the US Copyright Office. The listing doesn't actually say whether there is only one song on it or many.

I'm more impressed by her listing Phil Ochs as an influence.

The CD is either called Rock Me Stable or Young Like Me. From the End is a song.

The thing about Sirens that there is nothing else about it besides what we know. Junky Pride is basically the only song that has an official title, the rest were made up to fit the songs when the album leaked.

I think songs like For Charlie, Fordham Road, and Munny Hunny are from the CD she registered under the title Rock Me Stable/Young Like Me or From The End in 2005, which could also consist of some songs that were on Sirens too.

Totezes. I'm fairly certain she has music video nights, where she sits alone in her trailer and goes on a music video marathon, just watching herself dance around in tune to all her old songs.

Yeah~ sometimes it seems like Lana intended to send her fans on some sort of treasure hunt thing, like she was planning this all along..

I did a lot of digging today and finally managed to find a lot of interesting things that we didn't know about the May jailer- Lizzy Grant days from the old Myspace. It would be great if you guys appreciate this, it took forever to put together, haha. Most of this is information taken from pictures, they'll be at the end, and the picture containing whatever information will have the picture number next to it in parentheses except performance dates, there are way too many to put with pictures, ask if you need the pictures for the performance dates and I'll PM them. The pictures are out of order by date though. It's all between 2006 and 2010.

  21. SoftcoreBabyface liked a post in a topic by Valentino in Lana Del Ray/Rey
Supposedly "Lana Del Rey"  is something she got from hanging out with "Cuban friends" in Miami and it reminded her of the "glamour of the seaside." I think there's another variant of it, Lana Ray, which you'll hear in Trash Magic ("He said, Lana Ray, will you serve me lemonade?"). I recall reading about a fourth variant but I don't remember what it was, only that it was longer.

I think the Ray spelling is something that comes naturally to English speakers because, well, it's an existing word and name and it has the same pronunciation as Rey. I speak Spanish and even I sometimes slip up and type Lana Del Ray because that sound sequence, in English, corresponds to the sequence of letters "ray." I think she changed it to Rey so the whole thing would be in Spanish (she supposedly speaks Spanish, and we've heard her speaking little pieces of Spanish before) as opposed to partially in English - consistency. Maybe it's a coincidence that she also sings about a Ray in Kill Kill and potentially Raise Me Up (the demo is called "Rayse." I know Lana loves misspelling things but considering she's sung about a Ray before and she does ring 'Rai rai rai raise me up', her singing about an actual Ray in that song would fit pretty well). Maybe she liked this coincidence and capitalized upon it. I don't know the timeline of stage names she's had, I don't know when she started using Lana Del Rey instead of Ray, I'm not even sure if Lana Ray was ever used as a stage name.

Something neat I found in the Lanalysis page: Arthur Lynn wanted to name his daughter Lana... and his son Ray.

I just hope this director gives Lana great visuals. I just want Lana to be able to top the national anthem and the ride video, those are literally perfection
