That would actually be so cool. Mermaid-esque. Like ... Lana's on the shore, watching boys (her "prey"). Then she gets them to swim with her (taking a trip on a boat, make out in the sea, whatever) and suddenly the other girls appear, dragging the boy under. -

Well, the pictures of what seem to be the influences for the music video aren#t going along with the Pale Fire stuff, so I am much more doubtful about the underwater scenes than the models. -

I really hope so, but it could also just mean lana feels like releasing the pictures since the movie footage won't be released anyway ... -

God Knows I Tried is definitly about fame aswell. Or "the dark side", most likely talking about paparazzis. She sings about not being able to do anything (because they will follow her), wearing sunglasses even if it rains and being happy when she's finally alone. The song also blends into High By The Beach, which is a double entendre between a failed relationship and her "relationship" with the press. Honeymoon is about escaping everything together with your lover (including the negative media guys), Swan Song has a similar kind of topic and so does Freak. Terrence Loves You refers to Hollywood legends and David Bowie and I STILL think she uses his fate of "losing" Terry as a metaphor for the loss she herself is experiencing during the song. Art Deco is about someone who seems to be both "downtown famous" and unsure at the same time. Maybe she talks about herself. Another thing about this thing is that the lyrics seem like she's observing the person she sings about. During Music To Watch Boys To she herself is the one who observes and puts on a show, even though it's all just a game to her. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood's lyrics could be interpreted in a way similar to GKIT: the press sometimes takes things she says in a way they weren't intended or just misunderstand her. Also, it could mean that even though she sings about the dark side of fame on the album a lot, it doesn't mean she wants to come off as if she would hate everything about her career, she just wanted to express these feelings. I know it's just a cover, but I guess she chose it because of a certain reason. Like, The Other Woman's lyrics were clearly out of the view of the "Sad Girl" and not from the view of the cheated spouse. The only songs not really spotting something like this are the Blackest Day (apart from the Billie Holliday reference) and Salvatore (even this could represent the "Honeymoon" she sings about) -

Can't wait to hear some things from this album in HQ ... the second chorus of Freak with the saxophone, the chorus of 24 with the castanets and her "mmmmh"s, the whole Salvatore instrumental, the Swan Song chorus with all backing vocals .... -

I love how she thirsts over the guy for the whole song and then decides that he can wait, because she wants to eat some ice cream first.

Music To Watch Boys To - GREAT song, great concept, great vocals, wonderful execution. 24 - I really love how this builds up from a beautiful slow ballad to a Bond-track-chorus featuring spanish influences. Religion - The message is beautifully delivered and the chorus is orgasmic. The Blackest Day - The emotion in her voice is really strong and the chorus will be stuck in your head for a while. Art Deco - Cute song, catchy yet stylish. Could play in some kind of scene-club. Salvatore - She really aced this Little Italy vibe, I always wanted a mafioso song like this one. High By The Beach - Still slays with it's bitterness and the coast-y-muddy trap vibes. Freak - Mysterious and sexy, however it falls off quite a lot after the first chorus. Especially the bridge doesn't really do anything for me. Swan Song - The verses aren't really that special, but the chorus infact is impressing. The song is actually quite sad and fits it's title, however some parts of it are a bit forgettable Honeymoon - Still love this lynchian feeling with the lingering, creeping violens and her wonderful mature vocals. Compared to the rest of the album, it's not that good but it still has a very special vibe. Terrence Loves You - I hate to rank this song so low, because the lyrics, her delivery and the instrumental is nice, but this song .. I don't know, it still hasn't really grown on me. Beautiful, but weaker in comparance to the other tracks. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - The concept of the cover is nice, regarding the instrumental and her vocal delivery. However, the song itself isn't that interesting or special in my opinion and since she didn't strolled far from the original melody, it#s the same with the cover for me. God Knows I Tried - Nice vocal delivery, the guitars and the cicadas are cool aswell. The gospel thing really works, however it's not really my taste and I dislike the way too repetitive God Knows I - parts. -
That would be soo cool, I bet she'd be a great mother.

Here's my take on it: She sings about not being able to change a person, because he is the way he is and there is no use in changing him. She even really describes him as "crazy", which might not be an unusual lyric for Lana, but in this context it could be literal. Persons with mental disorders can#t just be changed like that from 0 to 10. Then there is this thing with the tunes. David Bowie (who was VERY close to his brother Terry) wrote multiple tracks about him. I guess this line refers to being remembered how things were before the mental disease showed. The bridge with the two Bowie references clearly shows that she's trying to contact someone who obviously isn't there anymore, at least not in her "realm". TVC15 is about someone crawling into a televsion and being lost into this world. Major Tom's spaceship is somewhere out there in space and clearly loses contact to earth, meaning he will most likely die. David bowie's brother was schitzophrenic, which most likely results in persons behaving like they are not experiencing what many others experience, or at least they take it differently. Then we have the line about their love being hidden but never gone. Even though someone with a mental disorder might not be able to show his feelings, but they still are there. And another reason why I don#t think it's about Barrie is the "I lost myself when i lost you" line. Even thouugh a break up can be veeeeeery hurtful, tjis line seems more like losing something even more important. David's brother was the one from his family he was closest with. Not saying I'm right, it might very well be about Barrie, but this are my thoughts on TLY (and the only reason I REALLY like it .. if it would just be a break-up song, it would become extremely bladn to me) -

I seriously doubt TLY is about a break-up with Barrie. Alle the Bowie and Terry references and multiple lyrics could imply it's about losing someone to a mental disorder. Salvatore also seems to be partly made-up, to fit the Gangsta-Boy stereotype. -

you can't judge a cover like this though. I think they took a nice approach with the instrumental, but the song itself just isn't that great and unlike TOW or BV it doesn't suit her voice that well -
