  1. Mermaid Motel National Anthem Cola West Coast/ Shades Of Cool High By The Beach Cherry Fuck It I Love You Dark But Just A Game Thunder
  2. I kinda preferred VG's addition to "Halloween Party" though
  3. Those kind of videos get uploaded when songs from an artist are included into some compilation album. You know, that kind of albums that were the analog equivalents of curated spotify playlists. "Autumn chill" features IYLDWM. It's kinda weird thry get such a new track, usually those things contain Summertime Sadness, Video Games, Blue Jeans, Brooklyn Baby or Love
  4. I know people on here love to melodramatically overanalyze her work all the time but after listening to BB for some time now, I really feel like this is the FINAL departure from the LDR we had for BTD/UV/HM/LFL. Even though there are a lot of older outtakes on this, the overall vibe of BB just seems to "seal the deal" after NFR and CoCC. The focus is much more on lyrics and unusual song structures than lush instrumentals or melodies now.
  5. I still love Thunder, but not as passionate as its demo version. It's nicer to listen to, now that everything is all autumn-y, but I still miss it's former punch Nectar Of The God really established it's spot on my"favourite Lana songs" list Can't really decide on a third spot though. Text Book and Living Legend still rank really high and both Arcadia and Cherry Blossom grew on me a lot. Meanhwile, I still enjoy Wildflower Wildfire but it almost sounds out of place with all it's theatrical sitting between the laid-back Thunder and the ballad-lullaby portion of the record. And while I don't consider Beautiful a very exciting track (it's solid but she's done songs like that a hundred times before), it's the one that gets stuck in my mind the most for some reason.
  6. I know people around here act as if it was super cewl n edgy and a sign of advanced artistry, but that's just what happens if you don't do nothing beyond the album itself. Most indie artists with a much smaller target-audience put more effort into their promotion, and it's not like music videos, performancea and photoshoots are just marketing - it's also a way to artistically express urself. Lana herself used to absolutely rule this aspect of visual artistry, no matter if it was about big budget stuff like Blue Jeans or her homemade videos during ger Lizzie-era. Now most she does in this department seems uninspired and halfassed. Noone but fans who force themselves to like it care for content like the BB-mv, that NFR/B/HIAB thing or the LMLYLAW performance. I'm not saying she should force herself to do something she doesn't want to, but it's not suprising that the attention for her output sinks when she obviously doesn't care. And that decay of visual quality is not "niche". Lana just does not care about it anymore. It's fine, but let's not overglamourize it. A lot of small "niche" artists who really want to create something beautiful to accompany their music manage to do with a much lower budget. Because they actually burn for it. Lana is past that point, and with both herself and her fanbase taking her way too serious, she now does things like the BB-video or the CoCC-cover.
  7. Blue Banisters would have made a much bigger impact if it wasn't for that halfassed CoCC release earlier that year.
  8. People still tray to act E X C L U S I V E and keep up the "I'm totally an insider act" weeks after the release?
  9. I love that track, however I prefer the demo version with that catchy bass line and the more "orchestral" vibe. The album version is the definition of overproduced
  10. Yeah, I don't really get it either (I feel like some people just like it for the sake of it being 10 minutes long and because they can stick buzzwords like psychedelic and experimental to it). I mean, it's a good track, but in my opinion it would have been better as a 6.30 song.
  11. Thunder & BAR if they still were like their demo versions. While this is prett much consent with BAR - the new chorus is so out of place and feels like the lyrics come from a LDR-Lyrics-Generator "Topanga's haaaawt" "I just wanna dance with u" "I'm taking off mah bathing suit" - I also feel like the Thunder rework was a downgrade. The song had so much fire, and this minor build-up between the first and second verse was not worth sacrificing it. The strings they added were nice, but that lame percussion, the underuse of the backing singers and the way the first verse and chorus are sucked dry of all their energy is just criminal. It's still a good track, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as I do if I hadn't heard and loved the demo first. Venice Bitch if it was 4 minutes shorter. Unpopular opinion, I know, but I feel like the build up just stops going somewhwere at a certain point. The track tootles on without any actual progression, layers are added for the sake of it but don't feel organic at all.
  12. 01. 13 Beaches 02. Cherry 03. White Mustang 04. Summer Bummer 05. In My Feelings 06. Best American Record (demo version) 07. When The World Was At War We Just Kept Dancing 08. Yosemite 09. Yes To Heaven 10. Tomorrow Never Came 11. Heroin 12. Change 13. Get Free That way the record would start off with a few more pop-ish tunes, all featuring featuring those trap-esque beats with all of those elements kinda "rising up" until they find their climax in IMF. Then there are WTWWAW and BAR as some sort of transition, since it they both have some pop-y unertones but already lean into the more dreamy and cinematic sound of the album's second half. Yosemite/YTH/TNC would make a folk-inspired, "fragile kind of beauty" trio and then we get Heroin, which heralds the start of the albums dramatic last moments. There is still a bit of inconsistency, but I think it woul work out pretty well this way. NFR would still be flawless without having TNBAR and since CoCC should have just been an EP with the first 6 songs taking away Yosemite from it does not make any difference either.
  13. Listening to Blue Banisters - especially songs like If You Lie Down With Me, Sweet Carolina and Cherry Blossom - I REALLY hope she'd do a Billie Holiday cover on this album. She's referred to her on The Blackest Day and I could just see it work out so well, especially with her recent style. Two of my all time favourite Billie-Holiday covers were done by Cassandra Wilson and I feel like Lana could pull of something similar
  14. I think it has a double meaning. Clearly, the guy she sings about has commitment issues. He "rolls like thunder" when he's drunk, at a party, with his friends - but privately he's indecisive af, can't just enjoy a good time and always longs for something more, never seeing what he already has at his very hands ("you're not satisfied at the rainbow's end"). Going by this and the timeline of the songs creation, I could see Thunder referring to the same man she sings about in Norman F*cking Rockwell (the song) and Best American Record (the demo). So "Just do it, don't wait" could mean that she wants him to stop overthinking things, appreciate all the good in his life before they are gone again, give in to their love affair and be happy together without any second thoughts. ("If you're on fire - just keep burning") However, she also seems to be tired of his indecisiveness, him not committing to their relationship and always being on the fence. She's got not time for this kind of games and wants to know if it's a "yes" or a "no" from him. And if he's not making up his mind anytime soon, he can just aswell leave. ("If hello just means goodbye then baby better walk away") So "just do it" could also mean that if he's not planning to actually have a relationship with her, he should just tell her so they can end this charade and she can move on with her life. Basically it's "Just do it, don't wait. 'Cause I don't wanna wait" as in JUST F*CKING DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT ALREADY!
  15. Right, Cherry Blossom could have good chances to be performed too.
  16. A lot of Blue Banisters actually gives me Bat For Lashes energies
  17. Soooo if Lana tours again somewhere in the future, which songs of BB will make it to the setlist in your opinion? She did Arcadia on TV, so I could see her adding it to the show. Maybe as a medley with LMLYLAW Apart form thatI only see Living Legend happening tbh. I think that this could become one of her most performed songs tbh
  18. Black Bathing Suit is overrated. I mean, it's not bad, it has it's moment but people just glorify it as some experimental, lyrical masterpiece when most of all it's just a big mess
  19. I laughed FAR too much about this. I need more Dealer memes, can TikTok do it's thing already?
  20. Beautiful is beautiful but it's also a pretty "vanilla" Lana song. Arcadia is much more cinematic and has a bit more "edge" to it.
  21. Aren't ALL reaction videos like this? I've yet to see any interesting one (and please spare me with this cringy pOeT rEaCtS tO lOnA DeL rAy stuff cause I can't really see a lot of expertise there either). They are usually successfull because it's either a hot or likeable person.
  22. Wow, this actually blew my mind and makes so much sense! The only line I can't link to that interpretation is " Please don't try my father either. he ain't been home for years"
  23. Only for her to start the concert off with the notorious playback-version of Bartender
