Remember how we used to politely knock and respect the business hours of the hotel, only swimming if there is a lifeguard present?

Hm, I guess i have to "divide" this into the different "classes" of songs we have from her.

Leaked Unreleased Stuff: I guess my favourites here are Heavy Hitter, You Can Be The Boss, Kinda Out Of Luck, Hundred Dollar Bill and She's Not Me. That are  quite a lot, but there are, infact, a lot of unreleased songs. I like many of them (I also don't like many of them) but these ones are my favs, as they were also some of the first Lana songs i heard (when VG hit the radio, I started to stan her and digged up the AKA album as well as the LolitaDemo and the unreleased songs above, so they kind of are my nostalgic favs). I really whish she would record an album/EP with some songs in the style of Heavy Hitter and YCBTB.

May Jailer - Sirens: I frankly don't like this album alot, there are some nice lyrics on it, like My Momma or Next To Me, but the only song I really like and listen to casually is "A Star For Nick". I love the lyrics, the concept of the track and the way she sings/plays the guitar.

Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Ray Tough one, like I already mentioned I listened to this album even before BtD (I'm a broooklyn hiiiiipsteeer! ) and I like the whole album alot. My all-time-favs are Gramma (it kind of makes me sad and happy at the same time, the lyrics, the instrumental, the overal mood ...) and Mermaid motel (I like how it's so unique and unusual for her in it's style. I like the feeling and .. everything about it).

Born To Die Hard one here, like with AKA I'm gonna have to chose two, and I also can't say that there is one song on this record iI don't like (Radio and Lucky Ones aren't my alll-time favourites, but i still would prefer them over alot of what is played on the radio). Blue Jeans, it's just such a perfect song - the guitar, the concept the chorus, her voice. everything. And National Anthem, this one was a grower but in the end it landed on my top 5. I like the strings, the fireworks, the lyrics, the instrumental in general and this kind-of different way she sings along to the hip-hop beat.

Paradise My favourite "album" so far. I like every song on it, so I'm only gonna pick one fav here, because it stands out the most (and I love all the others too <3). It's Cola. the instrumental, this heavy-string intro, the way she sings (especially the deep notes with the vinyl-feeling during the verse) - and I also like the lyrics. I like this slightly provocating Cola thing, it's funny without ridiculing the song. I like the sugardaddy-topic (especially the "I knwo your wife  and she wouldn't mind" part). And I began to drink Pepsi since that song's out, even though I don't really like it, too sweet for my taste, even for a softdrink.

Ultraviolence Hard to say, because it's not out for so long. Preferences change, some song which I loved at the first listen are now not that-fav anymore becaus eI just listened too much to them and so on. Got to name 3 here: Pretty When I Cry, it's such a beautiful song, but I just have to stop listening to it for a while to feel it#s atmosphere again. After 300001425 listens, it just isn't that strong anymore xD
Brooklyn Baby, it's a wonderful song. Nuff said. And - unexpected - West Coast. it was a huge grower and I didn't liked the rob orton Mix at first. the I loved the Germand Radio Mix. Then the RO Mix started to grew on me, but i didn't liked the album version and so on ... but now, I love all versions of it and even though it's the first single, I'm not tired of listening to it. I love the feeling and atmosphere, i love the verses, the chorus ... everything. I listen to it in the car, while getting ready for a party and when I sunbath with friends. Wouldn't have expected this in the first place, but now it's like that and that's the way it is ...

I only know about Bobby Womack's death, not sure if it was the day before or the day she performed. But theay recorded a song together and seemed to get along.

Does anyone know the font she used in the Body Electric backdrop during the Paradise tour for the words "psalm 51" and "my love" (don't know if i remember this one right)?

Also don't forget Tropico coming soon.

Is This Happiness and Flipside seem to be about this topic ... ITH is kind of the story about two writing artists, who break up cause they don't get along anymore. Also, there are a lot of FS has this "maybe we'll try it later again" topic, which fits some of her statements  about the "currently not together".

For the rest of the songs, I don't really think they are about the break-up-  they may mention one, but I don't think it's about the ending relationship with Barrie. I don't think EVERYTHING she does is completely autobiographic, in the end there could be things/feelings from her past as well as fictional stories she wants to tell.

Black Beauty in general could be about Barrie, but since it was written when they were still together, I don't think it's about a break up - reason.

Yeah, I realy like that. Maybe HW will be on an EP or it will be some kind of live song during the UV tour which will never be on  any album. I remember her playing You Can Be The Boss in some of her first post-BtD shows too ...

Also in TIWMUG, it says "high heels in her hand". I always thought it said "flyers in her hand" and had this image of a drunk girl passing out flyers for something on the side of the road while Lana just leans against a chain link fence and smokes a cigarette..
It's a beautiful image, I tell you. It really is.

I was on  a Gossip concert once and it was a really comfortable one cause the band was so funny and friendly, mainly because they acted natural. They are used to be on stage and seem to feel comfortable.

Lana is , compared to them, a newbie and more nervous. Still she doesn't pretend anything in order to appear natural in a way she isn't. She is a little bit shy but still a really friendly person towards her fans. I'm not the biggest fan of the first-row-exclusive-things, but it's something she likes to do and ... well would be hard for her to geth through the whole audience, if you consider all those fans who seem to forget that there is something like a personal distance, even if you admire a singer and even if she acts nicely. Lana seems a little bit awkward sometimes, but that's something really relatable and not anything I would blame her for.

I really wonder if you've ever seen any other performers, to make a comment like that. I've seen performers do all sorts of things to deal with their insecurities (which every performer has, and tries to mask in one way or another) - I've seen them get drunk and abuse the audience; I've seen them ignore the audience completely; I've seen them turn up the 'rock star' act to 100% in a tiny club where they looked ridiculous; I've had artists pull me up on stage so that I could dance around [note: I'm a not particularly good looking guy who clearly wasn't being brought up for the eye candy value], and distract everyone's attention from what was going on.

Lana, in those times she's directly with her fans, seems so embarrassingly, ridiculously real that it almost hurts to watch her. If she acted any differently outside of shows, I'd wonder, but she's the same in every video I've ever seen of her meeting fans in the street, outside shows, at random encounters, and so on. She actually doesn't owe anybody anything in these meetings, but she has always seemed to me (as someone who's only seen videos) to be as genuine as is possible. If you want to experience a singer who introduces every song and sings every line to the back row, you can check out pretty much every other pop artist in the world at the moment. Lana is one of the very few singers around who is actually unpredictable and exciting enough to make watching videos worthwhile - you never know how she's going to sing something, or what she's going to do. Almost nothing is scripted, and the things that she repeats are so awkward and charming that she never looks like she's just crossing them off her list.

The end of relationships in real life is almost never like it is in the movies - it's messy and ugly and heartbreaking, and it never makes any of the parties involved look good. Lana herself puts it beautifully in 'Cruel World' by singing 'I'm finally happy, now that you're gone', and sounding like she's about to break down.

I find the easiest way of making sense of all of her contradictions and strange statements is to consider her a regular person, unschooled in how to act correctly, but trying to do the right thing. Sort of like the rest of us, when we're at our best.
