Was anyone ever ready for the perfect flow of this album!!!

I feel like this is 75% of the reason people who don't like her don't. But good on you @@National Anthem for giving her a try! I was the same way too tbh. I feel like a lot of people are in our situation where they heard so much and never liked her without hearing the music and once they actually gave it a chance they realized she isn't nearly as bad as people say. But that's just what I've noticed from the handful of people that have said similar things as us on the forum. It's a shame.

oh god like no one cares. lana or whoever your fav is could honestly have never written an original lyric in her life for all we really know. It's not gonna make me stop listening to her, even if such a tragedy would be exposed.

could you imagine how many songs would sound alike if we took the time to slow down one so it matches the beat of the other

So I've never been very vocal about my thoughts on Halsey but for some reason she always rubbed me wrong and I think because of so many other people not liking her and all the crap I heard, it made me not want to like her either.
 
Today I listened to the standard version of BADLANDS straight through and I totally, completely loved it. It made me furious that she has gotten so much hate for this project and that it actually affected me enough to the point where I was avoiding giving her a real chance up until now. The only song that didn't really hit me on first listen from the standard edition was "Young God", but it is such a great album and I can't wait to listen to it more. I'm here y'all.

I just got done listening to Badlands all the way through for the first time. It was nothing like I thought it would be and I actually really liked it despite not being too fond of what I knew of Halsey so far. Proof you should never judge until you hear. Really after hearing it I don't see why anyone says she copies Lana except for the NA chorus but other than that I don't honestly see many similarities. Its good enough that I might even buy the vinyl, which I only do if I really, really like an album. But I'm going to give it some time. There were some songs that were kind of forgettable but I liked it overall. 
 
I think my favorites were Castle and Drive!

I'm trying to understand the hate coming from so many people on this forum when it comes to her! I listened to her album and despite the many cliche'd lyrics/etc it's a pretty damn good album. 

I thought she used it yesterday, it's still bad that she used it, but if she was 14 at the time...C'mon now

The tweet was from 2009, when she was 14. People only just now dug it up and because it got a lot of attention, she apologized and deleted the tweet.

also why are you guys just assuming halsey is some HUUUUGE lana stan? like "OMG, you worked with Lana? OMG, Can I work with you? OMG, you've got a backing track you wrote for Lana that she didn't use? OMG, can I use it? Great! I'll name it after one of her unreleased tracks!" is just ridiculous and there go all the lipsters liking the post as if he dragged the fuck out of halsey. cause tim larcombe couldnt have just given her a track without mentioning lana? kelly clarkson is a massive beyonce fan so she copied halo on already gone -- no it was the producers fault and thats good enough alibi.
 
like i appreciate evilentity's informative in-depth posts but tbh that is a massive invasive skill that hardly many more people (let alone the lana fanbase) can touch

We shouldn't be dismissive of intersectional feminists because they're white. Their perspective as a whole of being a woman in a predominantly male society is important. she's not sitting here telling black women on twitter that she hates them, or that she knows what it's like to be black in America

It didn't even glorify rape. It didn't say "Hey guys, look at how awesome this is! You should do it too!" Do you not see the fear and pain in her eyes? It doesn't condone or glorify rape. She didn't mess up.

The concept comes from the idea that the "Badlands" represent her mind (playing into the fact that she's bipolar and struggled with it throughout her teenage years). The concept is less apparent on the deluxe because Tracks like Hurricane, Strange Love, & I Walk the line deviate from it, but its essentially her navigating though the different mental struggles she's faced by conceptualizing them into songs. The album itself bounces through highs (Roman Holiday) and the lows (colors) much like something someone with mental illness (or really anyone just to a less drastic degree) would experience. The best example of this would be Control where the lines bounce from symptoms of mania ("I paced around for hours on empty, I jumped at the slightest of sounds") and depression ("I couldn't stand the person inside me, I turned all the mirrors around). While I'm obviously overanalyzing it, I think its a pretty solid concept album given that its the debut from a 20 year old and she wrote it with a relatively small amount of people (the tracks were done with a lot of different producers yet have common lyrical themes leading me to believe she actually did write a lot of it). I think people are trashing the album because they don't like her as a person (which I can see why) but I don't think the album is bad by any means.

I'm so tired of this. How is this leak so messy? Fuck this...

"Lana Del Rey clone" and Lana is a Nancy Sinatra clone. Halsey's music is partially inspired by Lana (among other alternative artists) but is nothing like it at all.

I'm okay with the album being all over. I dont like the fact that TLY doesn't have enough for me. The background was weak and she's trying to rely too much on vocals. Oh and poor Lana, she doesnt know what Jazz is.
