I haven't read or heard anything. I want the full experience.

But I might throw all of that out the window if it's not released at midnight

Get Free. It describes how my journey feels right now. I'm beginning to decide things for myself and "get free", but there's still a lot of confusion because I've felt so held back by my need for control before (which I can now channel through my work ). It sort of reminds me of when I first started the process of recovery for my eating disorder, but there are so many areas of my life where my need for control has controlled me. But I'm learning to live. I'm moving out of the black and into the blue.

Not them coming for Tomorrow Never Came, though. And they got the "singing with Sean" lyric slightly wrong. Someone correct them in the comments

My impression is that it's about a feeling of darkness that the narrator has from the place that she's in, while the people around her are getting off on the fact that they're in a place associated with Manson.
    Warning: disgusting imagery in spoiler.

The song seems to be about some people escaping into heroin, and some escaping from it. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it" is also about the need for escape (similar to the scene in 'Afraid'), and the sickness that surrounds heroin use - the sickness of addiction; the sickness of withdrawal; the existential sickness of being in that physical place.

I've only just heard the song in the past couple of hours so it's still sinking in, but it's one of her best works.

The Manson references....chills. One of my favorite songs on the album.

"Before the summer ended, Manson and eight or nine of his enthusiasts piled into an old school bus they had re-wrought in hippie style, with colored rugs and pillows in place of the many seats they had removed. They roamed as far north as Washington state, then southward through Los Angeles, Mexico, and the southwest. Returning to the Los Angeles area, they lived in Topanga Canyon, Malibu, and Venice—western parts of the city and county.[1]:163–174 It was November when the school bus set out from San Francisco with the enlarged group.[4]
In 1967, Brunner became pregnant by Manson and on April 15, 1968, gave birth to a son she named Valentine Michael (nicknamed "Pooh Bear")[5] in a condemned house in Topanga Canyon, assisted during the birth by several of the young women from the Family. Brunner (like most members of the group) acquired a number of aliases and nicknames, including: "Marioche", "Och", "Mother Mary", "Mary Manson", "Linda Dee Manson" and "Christine Marie Euchts".[6]"

read more about it here, it's weird https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manson_Family

Now that it's officially out, I think we can discuss the lyrics?

I really wonder what she means with this

I'm doing it for all of us (ah)
Who never got the chance (ah, ah, ah)
    For ..... and for .....
And all my birds of paradise

in Get Free. It sounds censored, is there a deeper meaning behind it?

I'm a bit of a true crime buff and the Manson lyrics hit me so hard when I first listened to Heroin! God, Lana invokes such intense images, the blood on the wall legit gave me the shivers. Kinda on subject, but Tarantino's doing a Manson movie and can't you just imagine Lana doing a piece for the soundtrack?

This whole time I thought it was ironic that Lana was all happy while I was going through the worst depression of my life and now we've both converged at an equilibrium state of confusion and doubt but a drive to move forward and hgnnnnn
I'm literally crying. This album is every single thing I needed right now.

The Heroin lyrics about Manson give me chills...the whole song seems to be about the dark side of Canyon culture in California

The Canyons are where the 60s music scene started...Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Mamas and Papas, Eagles, etc, etc. But also the place where the Manson Family was born

"get that cigarette smoke out of my face" is a great angry lana moment! Also "cryin while I'm cummin, makin love while I'm makin the money", like I'm shocked that's not already a lana lyric

Really I like it because someone on here a few days ago hypothesized that it was lana singing to herself and I totally read it that way. Like the verses talk about her smoking at self destructive times, then she says get that cigarette smoke out of my face like she's trying to stop her masochistic habits. Also "they all know you're name" "don't do it". She's split throughout the song as a result of her own self destruction. "who's doper than me" "if you wanna make the switch be my guest baby" like she isn't sure if she wants to be herself or not.

Lol that's totally not coherent but I think there are some cool ideas and iconic lyrics in there. Granted, the one you brought up is kinda cringy.

The whole theme of 13 beaches is isolation in fame, she speaks on how it toook her 13 beaches to find one that didnt have paparazzi, thats why she says shes "camera ready all the time" bc she has people constantly photographing her, IN the prechorus she talks about how easily she could just give up fame and just let those memories exist only in her mind, in the chorus she talks about how it hurts to love what she does {being a famous musician} she goes on to sing about the price she has to pay for doing what she loves and that constant invasion of her privacy is killing her and "shes dying". in the second prechorus she talks about how if people respect her privacy they can meet her"But you can still find me if you ask nicely, Underneath the pines with the daisies, Feeling hazy in the ballroom of my mind" in relation to her reference to peaches...i think its just something lana adds to contribute to her overall aesthetic
