  1. I think they're pretty cool! Obviously not everybody's taste, but I personally think they're great. I remember when school would release for summer break and my family would get into our RV and travel to the most beautiful lakes across the USA. The Beach Boys were frequently played on the radio stations everywhere we went. They definitely set the mood for those happy times.
  2. exactly! the range of ages for this brand is what....13-16? teens are highly impressionable at that age and most will defintely use their ability to ~fit in~ to the brand as a confidence booster for themselves. At least, that's what I've generally seen. it's a twisted sort of business strategy in that way. It goes w/o saying that his comments were very rude and hurtful, the thing is that this isn't anything new in big fashion name stores. All brands target a specific audience, whether or not they speak of it is where things differ. Walk into any major brand store and you'll be sure to find that the employees and most of the customers reflect the brands general aesthetic - this guy just happened to voice that in his statement. He may lose some money from people that have issues with what he said, but I don't see that majorly affecting his overall business. Especially during summertime, Abercrombie is constantly flooded with people and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Summer, Christmas, and back-to-school are all times where that store is surprisingly always loaded with people of all different sizes(!), ages, and races. With that being said, I actually only see this guy's vision falling through with his employees because it doesn't necessary reflect all of the people that continue purchasing the brand. I've seen plenty of 40+ year olds in A&F clothing and I'm also pretty sure I've seen young adults that would be considered overweight in Abercrombie/ A&F clothing. Maybe the reason for the continued demand -despite all the controversy- is that Abercrombie and A&F are brands that are (mostly) easily accessible and the pricing isn't even ~expensive~ His shallow opinion doesn't seem to phase a sufficient amount of people from tanking the business of this guy or any other similar minded “luxury” fashion store owners. It's sadly the way of the fashion world. Let me also just say that I kinda laugh anytime people refer to Abercrombie as a "luxury brand," and I say that as a former A&F employee of 2 years. Despite the impressions Abercrombie strives for, it's anything BUT luxury since the price points and quality of clothing aren't anything worth considering as luxury. and by that i mean it's cheaply made clothes thats overpriced for it's bad quality. you're just buying into the brand
  3. yay!! I hope she posts PLENTY of selfies.
  4. i'm gunna be the debbie downer of this situation and possibly saying too much buuuuuuuuuut honestly not surprised that "hater" was a monster aka gaga fan. it's always these hostile gays on the internet that f*ck up the reputation of gags fanbase. this guy purposely replied to Lana's Y&B tweet with "UGLY" to get crazy Lana fans to tweet him hate. lol it's embarrassing the lengths people go to for internet attention. I DID first laugh when I saw Lana's DM only because it's amusing (and annoying) how highly sensitive she is. Her DM was unnecessary and it only fueled that guy's internet ego.....
  5. I quickly posted this in between classes and fully intended on editing the numerous grammatical and syntacical errors as soon as I got home, but since you happen to understand Czech, do you mind properly translating the interview? Please ^_^ The google translator helped getting the gist of what was said but there's nothing better than a translation from a person who knows the language! I don't mean to put you on the spot but it would definitely be appreciated if you could do so And to answer Moonstar's question.... the actual interview was conducted before the Electronic Beats Festival in Prague (April 13, 2013) but the interivew wasn't posted until today (April 29, 2013). btw sorry for the awful translation method guys. lol. i came across the interview and decided to share before running off to class!
  6. This article is originally in Czech so I ran the text through the rarely accurate but always helpful Google Translate. Here's the rough translation: Interview with Lana Del Rey was twice canceled literally at the last minute, it worked the third time. Fears of a meeting with an asterisk zpovykanou(?) and its quirks but were ultimately unfounded. In his hotel suite Prague Hilton me about two hours before the event on Electronic Beats conquered the Czech audience welcomed the sweet and smiling young woman in shirt and jeans, which you could not help but notice two things: that it is extremely beautiful and the barefoot. original article: http://www.reflex.cz/clanek/co-vas-zajima/50309/rozhovor-se-zpevackou-lanou-del-rey-co-te-nezabije-to-te-oslabi.html
  7. I was going to wait until tomorrow (ive waited like 5hrs already!) but I caved and gave Y&B a listen right now. Love the build-up to this part: "I’ve seen the world, lit it up, As my stage, now. <--- (immediately pictured the setting in the Ride mv, right after the monologue, where she's Channeling angels in, on stage in her red dress) The new age, now. Hot summer days, rock and roll, The way you’d play for me at your show. And all the ways I got to know, Your pretty face and electric soul." I realize this song is for The Great Gatsby, as it does fit with the tragic love interest and grand lifestyle surrouding Gatsby & Daisy, but looking at this song by itself , it doesn't excite me lyrically. the production though >>>>> Plenty of us have noticed how she recycles certain ideas or lyrics in the majority of her songs. What part of all this repetition is because of meaningful intention and what part is just lazy songwriting?? her word choice is the same in everythinggg, im >> b o r e d Paradise Edition & Young and Beautiful are tired out ideas from Born to Die. I feel like she's just churning out sloppy songs while the hype is still alive. ....I'm hoping her upcoming "spiritual" album is a breath of fresh air and she ventures onto other topics or at least expresses her ideas in a NEW way. 1 of the main reasons that I was drawn to Lana in the 1st place was bc she was so different, now she's literally beating to death the same themes in all of her recent songs. -__-
  8. i got the email RIGHT when she posted the video and thought it was another random person sending me a vid of their personal Lana cover. once i realized that it wasnt, i was literally crippled with shock! ive been looking forward to something like this since we learned about how Barrie wrote Lana a lullaby i adore their relationship + the beautful music they make <3
  9. oh my goodness, Duke! what a beautifully detailed post. You really seem to have thought everything through with all of the preparation beforehand - glad it was rewarded with getting some Lana & Kassidy ~love~ It's so cute that your Pepsi Pussy gift made Lana laugh <3 thanks for sharing your eventful experience.
  10. one of the many reasons I luv to be a girl is bc of BOOBS! They are honestly so visually pleasing ;-) & great to have whether they're big OR small. I'm straight but I can def. admire the beauty that is the woman's body. As Lana once said, "I just like how beautiful naked women are. I love seeing girls’ skin in pictures. I have all the old Playboy magazines from the 60s and 70s. I love the look of girls with red lips and shiny skin. I am a big fan of the female form." (That is by far one of my favorite quotes from her <3 ) As for Lana, I firmly believe that her small breasts suit her small frame. She works with what she has and occasionally wears big bras for appearance when she's touring (She actually mentioned this in an Australian(?) interview, cba to find which right now). I've spoken to fans that met her in Los Angeles in 2012 and she openly jokes about "not having any boobs." I feel like breast size is one of the few things Lana is comfortable enough with to not do any sort of plastic surgery to alter them-- just the occasion big bra for a fuller look or to accomodate a certain dress she's wearing for shows.
  11. I'm getting all teary eyed watching her cover such a beautiful song. god, i love her so much.
  12. wasnt she nominated last year as well & lost? Wow look at her now -- coming back AND WINNING TWO AWARDS <3
  13. nooooo it's the worst when lip liner is darker than the lipstick. is that a sheer/white lipstick as well??? I'm not loving the crocodiles in her hair either but I think the crocodile bracelet is interesting! --------- YAY just saw she won an award!!
  14. ya know, I've noticed that I sometimes find myself scoffing at those normal fans every time they seem so excited over finding a "new" interview or photo shoot that I've already seen millions of times before. I dismiss them immediately as if I they were wrong for not already knowing certain Lana things. I'm also 1 of those that complain over how repetitive her interviews seem but ur post def. gave me some clarity over these kind of situations, lol it's easy to forget that all of ~this~ is a bit psychotic & I shouldnt be sooOOOoo rude. sigh, ive always imagined I'd make a sort of ~inside joke~ with Lana if I ever met her. Like bring up some of the things she's previously said in interviews..... #PsychoLanaFanSelfRealizations
  15. BEAUTIFUL SHOOT!!!! Lana looks likes she's stuck in a telenovela mourning over the loss of her million dollar man These two are my favorites: this photoshoot is the grown-up/ professional version of Edward Smith's rosary + yellow dress shoot the lizzy grant & lana del rey contrast
  16. oh gosh. i guess she permanently traded in her aztec jacket from k-mart for this furry bearlike coat. here's 2 more I saw she's such an angel sometimes anyway, quick observation + speculation: i noticed most of the people that met lana today[march 1st] tweeting about how they met her at their school. that particular school had it's 1st ever coffeehouse today (in which many of the 14-15 yr olds had just finished performing in). the kids had either sang or played piano. maybe it's pure coincidence or Lana is giving back to her NYC community again or doing some research for her upcoming innovative thinkers project that btw she needs to tweet more about?! she was wearing a chez nous cap that happens to be part of the school's motto of "chaz nous is French for our Home." It is a private all girls CATHOLIC school. One of the students gave her the cap
  17. woooo!! woodkid+lana= killer music videos!!! they make a great team. Lana really seems to be in her element when she's working with the visuals-- i think that's her passion for films showing really curious as to what she would consider a spiritual album to be?
  18. this interview is one of my favorites! her "radio voice" at 4:37!! i need more fun Lana interviews like this

    Adele

i like adele. her voice is nice but her lyrics are nothing too special. definitely agree with those that think she's overrated. my top favorite songs: he wont go, painting pictures, melt my heart to stone Her collab with Daniel Merriweather is one of the only songs of Adele that I still listen to now. Her cover of Cheryl's song "Promise This" is SO GOOD. imo, Adele's version is so much better. Cheryl tried to make this song into some dance tune equipped with crazy choreography that was not matching with the song's intended mood. It's clearly meant to be slowed down and sung soulfully as Adele does: Since I used to eagerly watch + read all of her interviews, my ears slowly became adjusted to her rushed way of speaking and heavy cockney accent.
  20. terrible pic but do you see Lana in the back?!! I think that's Johnny Blue eyes to the right of her....lmao check out his CRazY hat I'm stunned right now w her outfit. oh MY at her head 2 toe versace look <3 I AM IN LOVE! it's a bit short, sure, but she's YOUNG & HOT ~

    Sigur Rós

i recently discovered this brilliant band and absolutely love their sound. I'm planning on seeing them perform in April!
  22. I was so busy gushing over Lana giving a s/o to Barrie that I just now realized she also thanked Wendy again! From what I remember about their messages, you could really tell Wendy helped Lana out during her "dark times." It must be such a surreal moment for people that knew Lana at that point in her life see her accept such big awards now!
  23. i was not expecting that choice of outfit AT ALL! Maybe (hopefully) she has a second dress to change into once the show starts. I do like her side french braid <3
  24. SO EXCITED for this!! Isn't she's with Barrie now? Hopefully they go together like at the EMA's. I liked her gown last year, although I do remember being a bit surprised that she wore flats to the event. that johnny blue eyes stylist of hers better bring his A-game for this
  25. I think it is incredibly brave how Lana, as an introvert, continually steps out of her comfort zone and shares her art with people-- even when it sometimes results with her awkward dancing and hand movements, I find it endearing and relatable. I also think that because Lana is such an introvert, that can be reason behind why she can get so defensive when anyone critiques her work. It's great to hear that she is finally pleased with her life.
