  3. this is all so interesting and def opens up a lot of conversation!! thank you for this @PARADIXO!! def a few surprises in the ranking, and a few robberies. my thoughts: Sooo happy to see West Coast as #1!!! One of my fav Lana songs EVER and without a doubt some of her objectively best work!! I'm definitely surprised but thrilled to have it there. Video Games is my fav Lana song and in fact my fav song of all time, but I figured it was gonna be robbed of a high placement bc of overexposure for the hardcore fans. V v v glad it's top 5!! As an Art Deco stan I am THRILLED by its placement!!! #28 is amazing considering what a random deep cut it is. I was expecting like, low 80s or something. Also YESSSSS at Salvatore being in the top 20!!! Another one of my favs that I always considered to be really underrated. Glad Born To Die placed in the top 10 as well. I know we're all sick of hearing Lana perform it live and it's such an obvious mainstream track and blah blah but honestly, what a banger and what a way to capture that entire era. Poor LFL... this thread really brings into perspective just how much forgettable filler it had. That being said, it has brought into light some interesting ideas about objectivity vs subjectivity for me. For example, When The World Was At War is one of my fav Lana tracks because I just love how breezy and lackadaisical the chorus is, it gives me really soft summertime vibes, but I always figured most other fans wouldn't share my perspective and would more or less ignore it and it seems I was right. It's probably very forgettable for most, and objectively not a very exciting or enduring song. Still love it tho DAYGLO REFLECTION DESERVED SOOOO MUCH BETTER, a solid 10/10 song for me Sad to see Smarty so underrated, it's one of my fav AKA tracks. It's cheerful but twisted, sarcastic and sassy, a little taboo and always seducing. Black Beauty really shocked me. I know it's a fan fave, but #2?? Really?? Can't argue with opinion I guess but as much as I like the song it doesn't seem deserving of that spot to me. I know we like to clown her live performances of OTTR lmao but yeaaa it's a fkin banger. Everything that was fun about the BTD era (or I guess just the pre-NFR Lana) in one track: chaos, love, tragedy, drama, wit, high energy.
  4. deffff agree!! particularly the point about song structures. we didn't even have bridges or proper outros on many of NFR's songs, so their structures, at times, could get repetitive
  5. THIIIIIIIIISSSSSS what would you guys want to see more and less of on this album? personally, more: psychedelic guitars and psychedelic atmosphere overall, venice bitch and ultraviolence/west coast style less: piano-based songs. i really enjoy them, but i think we've had plenty on NFR and i'd like to see it switched up!
  6. it's pretty for collectors but pointless without the bonus tracks

  9. i hope this question makes sense but which is the alternative FIILY and which is the original??
  10. I've always gotten similar vibes from West Coast and For K (Part 2)... the ending of West Coast leads so nicely into the start of FKP2! Money Power Glory and Guns and Roses (sorry MPG I don't mean to insult u xxx) Smarty and Gramma Bartender and Bel Air have slightly different overall vibes, but very similar styles with the cute little dancing piano Beautiful People Beautiful Problems and Black Beauty Prom Song (Gone Wrong), Driving In Cars With Boys and Queen of Disaster all feel quite similar to me
  11. I came down for dinner with my Mum the other day and she had this album playing in the background on shuffle and man, it really exemplified for me what a great set of songs this album really is. Like there's just so many strong, big, stand-out moments - West Coast, Shades of Cool, Brooklyn Baby, Fucked My Way, Ultraviolence, Sad Girl, Pretty When You Cry... even songs that I sorta dismissed before, like Money Power Glory and Black Beauty, I still absolutely LOVE. Love love love Florida Kilos too, I can see why it was demoted to bonus track since it's a v different vibe but I think it would've fit pretty well with Brooklyn Baby before it and FMWUTTT after it. I love this album soooo much!!!

  13. I can feel it coming in the air tonight See you walking on that blue Pacific I can see you bathing in the summer light Turning tan and you look terrific vs Self-loathing poet, resident Laurel Canyon know-it-all You talk to the walls when the party gets bored of you
  14. so... dream setlist laid ease? would you include C-WIMM just for the novelty factor? (also i know she's no way gonna change her setlist lol but if she did...)
  15. this!! i absolutely LOVE the record - and i mean that with all my heart - but i still have little nitpicky things that bug me a tad or that i'd like to improve, luckily they don't ruin the entire record for me and i'm sure most people who are only casual lana listeners might not even notice them, but i do think if we're gonna talk about the faults anywhere, minor or not, it's gonna be here on lanaboards
  16. exactly! i think if it was still due tomorrow she'd have mentioned it by now right?
  17. as much as i am anxious as hell for some kind of potential crazy world war three situation - particularly since our newly-elected prime minister over here in the uk is constantly clinging to trump's coattails and seems deeply eager to impress him, so who knows what he's willing to agree to in terms of allyship - my heart is in pieces for these middle eastern countries that will now be ravaged even further by these rising tensions and the inevitable backlash the innocent civilians will face. already we see regular people dying because of the mess that is militarism and imperialism, but now it's only going to get worse. i'm worried for myself and for the uk and for america, sure, but there's still a chance things might be okay for us. unfortunately for many countries in the middle east, and for the people who live there that never asked for any of this, their fate is... well, more or less sealed, regardless of what global action is taken after this. fuck
  18. i love the sort of half-defeated sarcasm of the title track, i've dated soooooooo many norman fucking rockwells in my time and i've often found that, although not the healthiest thing, i tend to deal with it by saying "well men will be men and it's always gonna be that way and i'm just the latest in the long line of women thru the ages who's dealing with their bullshit.... it's just what you dooooo...."
  19. in my brain i sometimes get like "oh VB is so overrated blah blah" but then i actually listen to the song again and like..... every single time it is just such a complete fucking experience, i get so much from it if it wasn't lanaaaa i'd be, jealoussss of those stansssss
  20. but lets be honest, our girl barely even plays the shallow cuts, let alone deep ones
  21. i did that the other night and was mesmerised by how much emotion she'd pour into her performances... with songs like Y&B and dark paradise, it's like you could see the hurt in her eyes
