  1. It's this guy: https://www.instagram.com/gabesimonsays/?hl=en He worked on Summertime (Gershwin Version) as well.
  2. Wow I would have thought they'd be more than happy to leave such a negative song to the straights.
  3. Oh that really sucks - I was also wondering where it had gone. Considering the number of trash people on twitter that get to post without being questioned, it's terrible that someone as innocuous as you would get banned. Hopefully it's just a mistake that gets rectified soon!
  4. I know that the tracklist on the previous page is a goofy joke, but tell me these lyrics from 'Never Gonna Give You Up' don't sound like they were sung by Lana's ex to her, just before he left her, and inspired so many of her songs.
  5. Correct. Lana is, from the record company's viewpoint, an extremely low maintenance artist. She has her own momentum, and her own audience who will buy whatever she puts out, and the label barely even has to spend a cent on advertising it. They don't care about the controversies or the fashions or the twitter wars. She has an audience of people who enjoy handing over hard cash for product. A million retweets of a tik tok video isn't worth a thing to labels if it doesn't translate to cash changing hands. Individual fans, and the hashtag hordes, like to think that they have the power, but money is still the anthem of success.
  6. These days, having 10,000 fans who buy multiple formats of your new record, consistently, as well as buy merch, etc, is worth more than having 10,000,000 fans who only stream your music (and Lana also has that).
  7. Yikes. I never really had Barrie pinned as a guy who would turn an inane FB post into free verse, like that annoying sixteen year old sitting in the corner at family get-togethers (who may or may not have been me).

I know you're not around here much anymore, but if you still check in from time to time ... there is a lot of Aussie hip hop that does just that.

I'm so glad I didn't do my usual trick of posting exactly the same thing five years apart

Tkay is awesome! I bought her CD when it came out, purely based on hearing it in a store, and asking the staff who she was. That was the first time that had happened to me since the late 90s. Of course, I was already years behind the times, because she's been working a long time, but I don't really keep up with hip hop, particularly Australian hip hop, because it just doesn't get that much attention. This was the song that caught my ear, by the way And for people more into poppy/modern sounds
  11. I mean, there are idiots (using a polite term, rather than the one I actually want to use) who wish that she was still depressed. It takes all sorts to make up a fanbase, even those who hate the person they think they love.
  12. I just noticed that this song is available on Apple Music streaming, which might push me towards signing up for AM rather than Spotify.
  13. This won't embed properly ( @Elle can you help out here?) but this is the post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMnSX-KBSNW/
  14. Twitter culture is what happens when you have a massive conversation involving thousands of people who were educated by a system that doesn't even know that things have happened in history that are completely unrelated to America. Unless, of course, there was a Netflix series about it.
  15. This has always been the only nickname for her that I've liked.
  16. Well, there's nothing that could drag you more than your own post. Some of these responses really do demonstrate the problem with having a fanbase made up mostly of children.
  17. Many thanks to the fine folks translating this interview, but it would be great if we could get hold of the original English answers, so hopefully they make more sense than going English->German->English.
  18. I agree, even though I don't agree with the grade as such, or some of his criticisms, at least there weren't any moronic or unfair comments like on his UV review. Of course, I've avoided the comments for the video, because he's built his brand by building up a fanbase of dumbasses, and his comment sections are regularly awful, misogynistic, racist etc.
  19. This is a palate cleanser after that other dork Someone doing his first deep dive into Lana's music and having his life changed.
