Listening now for the fourth time since managing to go to a physical store and buying a CD a few hours ago, and it's really starting to sink in that it's a great album. Picks so far are Wild at Heart, Dark and Yosemite, but no dogs at all. Anyone buying CD copies from somewhere other than Australasia, can you please let me know if the cover is printed super dark (the women on the left side of the photo are almost completely shrouded in darkness).

Excellent news to read! Rob has responded too.

I miss the 1980s, when it was our dumb baby boomer parents who believed in this crap, and not young people.

The almost total lack of comment about AB listing Holocaust denier and all around anti-Semitic dirtbag David Icke on her 'love list', in contrast to all the comments about her being given a (completely uncontroversial, if you know anything about Judaism) Menorah ring, says a whole lot about the state of internet culture.

Lana's diction and incomprehensible lyrics

Someone needs to tell her that she can just go into the other room to yell at him. No need to do it via instagram.

Just as an FYI, most message boards won't let you delete your account outright because it will screw up every thread that you were involved in during your time here. You will also still remain in any posts by other users who quoted you. The best thing to do is probably just log out and delete your bookmarks to the site, and walk away.

Well although it's no surprise that she's upsetting everyone on this occasion, people who are pretending to be offended by her ring (which has a Jewish Menorah on it) should get themselves a reality check. This is not a "traditional Jewish ring", and the only cultural sin it's committing is being corny.

Instagram recently stopped being usable if you're not signed in, so I don't know if that is why posts don't embed properly now. -

I always hear "you take the whale" in High By The Beach, which is a great mental image.- 343 replies

Mojo is a pretty strange magazine for someone of Lana's era to be on the front of. I did a quick analysis of the dozen or so issues that are up on the website at the moment to show how unusual it is for an artist active 2012-now to be on the cover is: The Cure - first album, 1979 John Lennon - active 1962-1980 The White Stripes - active 1999-2011 Bob Dylan - first record, 1962 Queen - first record, 1971 The Beatles - active 1962-1970 David Bowie - first record, 1967 Paul Weller - first record, 1977 Nick Cave - first record, 1979 Foo Fighters - first record, 1995 Jimi Hendrix - active 1967-1970 Joy Division - active 1979-1980

They seem to be trying to recognise what is actually behind so much of bullshit outrage on the internet.

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
longtimeman replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Nice work! It definitely seems like you've found a match. I also made the same mistake of thinking it was an older machine, and disregarding Royal because their logo looked a bit different on older models. The keyboard also reminds me of the early keyboards from PCs that I had in the mid eighties (without the numeric keypad), and is much chunkier and better than the trash electric typewriter my father had around the same time (which had a single line LED display that let you delete particular letters you'd typed - what an innovation ) This is probably more than enough typewriter talk for a music forum, but at least it got my mind off world news for a bit! -
Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

So as usual, I don't have the answer, but I wanted to thank you for asking it, and sending me down a rabbit hole of looking at pictures of old typewriters. This one is an electric typewriter, probably from the 80s onwards, but I couldn't figure out/recognise the logo. I found this blog that is written by someone who hopefully could answer the question with more detail than you ever imagined. Let me know how you go! -

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
longtimeman replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I haven't gone back to check, but I started to follow fan twitter just before the (delayed) release of Tropico, and there have been complaints about pretty much every important release (meaning first single for each project, and the album itself) that I can remember. Edit: That was not the sort of answer that this thread is here to provide, so I apologise for the vagueness. If I get some time, I'll go through and try to track her original promised date for all releases, and then their actual release date. -
I've been at a few TV recordings (a Letterman show, with Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson, and some Australian TV shows), and almost all of them have needed to have re-takes, despite the performances being pretty much perfect, because of some technical stuff up that didn't have anything to do with the artist. In fact, for most of them nobody in the audience or onstage had any idea why the retake happened. That seems to be the norm for TV. That aside, this is pretty damn exciting!

Interesting. I think it's also quite possibly a reference to the Bible (or one of the many novels/songs that uses the phrase), where 'Children's Children' means descendants, rather than grandchildren. (It still irks me that there are Lana fans who criticise that line, because they don't know what it refers to).

What's the reference?

Call me basic, but this is pretty much my opinion too.
