is it true to say that Charli sacrificed her mainstream succes and decided to fade away from the general public in the name of making experimental pop music? she could've just made another SUCKER like record as the label wanted her to but then she released Vroom Vroom which was a very weird turn. like she knows how great this pc music sound is but at the same time she's aware she'll never get bigger by sticking to it as it's far from being mainstream, though she keeps making it. for her it's not even about being a bop or flop anymore, she just releases the music she likes
summary: Charli is the real Jesus as she had an opportunity to be huge but decided not to.

Can anyone explain to me her sound/genre shifting decisions? I only listen to True Romance, which is one of my fav albums ever, and a little bit of Sucker, namely the titular track and Breaking Up. I enjoyed SuperLove and I knew right then that she might want to go mainstream, but it seems to me she abandoned this bubblegum-electropop sound whatsoever. I remember the fandom's hate towards her sophomore album, speculation that she 'does everything to irritate her previous fanbase,' and so on, but I get a feeling that now everyone's OK with that? I'm very curious, so if anyone wanted to write some words about it -- thanks in advance!
