This is honestly no hate to you, I really enjoy your Taylor content on this forum, I just find it quite funny that there are two ends to the ‘Pitchfork has failed’ spectrum. I see a lot of people argue that Pitchfork failed because it started to focus a lot on artists like Taylor, but others like yourself argue that it fails because it can’t review pop music properly / is flawed in other areas. Quite interesting to see how people on opposite sides of the argument both agree that Pitchfork doesn’t mean shit I’ve seen so many argue that TTPD is too high, and others that it’s too low. Anyways we can all agree that Pitchfork is a mess now

Lana has the capacity to write some beautiful country-tinged songs (she’s been doing it for her last 4 albums), I’m worried that with Lasso she will focus on the ‘this is a country album’ element and go in a completely different direction in order to look authentic and disregard her inherent country style that she has developed since Lust For Life. However I have no evidence for any of this, it’s just me being existential and preparing for the worst (which will still be good)

okokokok but we have to commend her for how far she’s come like wow she’s actually a superstar, the way they chanted Lanita at her comparing it to her (good but) low energy performances at coachella and glastonbury a decade ago, she’s really adapted her live shows so that she can give a fantasy but also stay true to the music she makes and also it’s just crazy to think that the ‘depressed alternative slow’ internet celebrity became the absolute queen of the industry she is today with literally no compromise to her vision
