i liked Angel. I listen to it at the gym all the time. And Lana served with her bridge especially in the video. It was a welcome respite from the ballads
-
we can't compare it that way. Lfl came out ages ago and the world was a diff place. The number of spotify subscribers has increased in leaps and bounds. So of course it'll look like more people are streaming ob. But compare the number of records sold and you'll find a different story. also, it's not fair to call out fans who want a BOP and Lana back on the charts and on the radio. It's not like we don't like the new stuff. We just want more diversity in the sound, i.e. an occasional banger ala Doin' Time to offset the 300 piano ballads. Nothing wrong with that
-
He only produced Lust for Life the song, among multiple producers. Today, that song is in her top 10 most streamed on iTunes and has 200 M+ views, so that worked out well. And what did we get with Jack's last efforts? Candy Necklace. Barely 2 M views and no one's listening to it. It's time for Lana to have another conventional solo hit. She's proven herself with good records and as a musician. But we haven't had a bonafied album hit since Doin' Time (which also wasn't produced by Jack, incidentally) Yes! Biggest hit of her career if that guy stepped in.

noo. Sth with beats please. We got like 50 piano ballads in 3 years
-
no, too avant garde

So, antonoff is the producer for the 5th time in a row? (Nfr, violet, chemtrails, OB) honestly, it's getting kinda stale. Can we have Nowels back or Emil Hayne or both ? Max Martin, Mark Ronson... someone to mx things up a bit 😩

Hi everyone, It's that time of the LDR calendar: one era has ended, and another one is brewing. My question is, which direction would you like LDR10 to go in? Which producer would you like her to work with? For me, I want the fun, poppy Lana back. I miss her early bops, clever lyrics and songs I can listen at the gym. As much as I loved OB and Chemtrails, I feel like her recent music is a bit too sad and forlorn. Hence, I'd like her to work with Max Martin or Emil Hayne again, or Rick Nowels. Even a short 10-song record with a few bops ala Summetime Sadness and Doin' Time and a few balads, I'd be more than happy with. Something light and sparkly after three super serious albums. What about you?

I think of Sweet as a perfect little Broadway musical tune. The lyrics and the melody are certainly beautiful. If there ever was an LDR musical, that song can be Lana' s (the lead's character) intro song aka "I want" song. Would I have placed this song at number 3 on the playlist? No. It's super slow and takes the wind right out of the record - wind that wasn't strong to begin with tempo wise.

chemtrails def wasnt bigger than ob. Covid era album with a disappointing lead single, lessor reviews than norman and no hit songs. It was the first lana album without a hit song on billboard 100. Plus, bb followed it right after and it had even worse singles. at least ob gave us an interview with eilish, glastonbury, festivals, controversies, aw bubbling under 100, say yes to heaven's success, an epic first single and an iconic mv (fuck people not watching, they have terrible taste and mvs are dying anyway.) i don't think ob is a defining era like norman was but it's certainly a step back in the right direction. I feel like lana's next album is gonna be defining.

Hey y'all, Could 't find this thread anywhere. How does everyone here rank LDR's masterpieces aka title tracks off each record? Here's mine: 1. Born to Die 2. Did you know that there's a... (this song is ageing so well) 3. Norman Fucking Rockwell! 4. Lust for Life 5. Ultraviolence (I've overplayed this song, that's the issue) 6. Chemtrails over the Country Club 7. Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass 8. Honeymoon 9. Blue Banisters (on any other album, this would be an irrelevant 11th or 12th track on the tracklist) What's yours?

I honestly feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone reading this. For decades, artists would show late to concerts. In fact, I don't think that I've ever in my life been to a concert that has started on time. Bands were smashing guitars on stage, diving into the crowds, showing up drunk and/or high. If you take a look at the 1990s grunge scene, you'll see all kinds of crazy shit. Heavy metal, hard core rock, don't get me started. And now it's literally "eat your kale, drink your smoothie and get on stage at 10.30 sharp." I'd honestly take Lana's "I'm so fucking late, I'm sorry" over that. At least it's something to remember. I think so too. They got off on on the wrong foot when they forgot to mention that she's performing, and she hit back with "We'll see." Clearly, they're a bit incompetent, and she's someone who doesn't allow disrespect. So, obviously, it's not about the hair. -

Maybe in America they don't. In Europe in other places around the world, people are not expected to be punching in at 9 am. It's not 1954. Also, there's hybrid working, and a lot of people work remotely full time, which means there's no one there to clock them in. As for your examples, that's totally fine. You can switch from Lana to Taylor or someone else then. -

But her setlist could also be naturally shorter. Some bands and artists do 1-hour concerts. Some cancel altogether. Some cancel during the show (The Who, famously.) I genuinely feel like crying about two songs cut from a long-ass set list is first world problems to a tee. People just loooove to complain. When they spend their money in far stupider ways, e.g. drugs, cigarettes and alcohol. Is those 10 bucks that cutting out Video Games cost going to make a seismic shift in anyone's budget? No. People need to chilllll -

Because everyone CANT WAIT to blast her. That's the point. The media makes you, and then they break you. Lana has been experiencing that for years. When the fact is: the festival forgot to mention her in the promo months ago! And did they get blasted for it??? No. Personally, I feel like this was Lana's way of giving them the finger. And good on her. I love that she doesn't give a fuck. Her true fans will tolerate 30 god damn fucking minutes. And if the festival doesn't book her next year, that's fine. Same with those who are freaking out over not hearing 2 songs. #BigWhoop #FirstWorldProblems -

it's easy to judge while you sit on your ass on your sofa with a bag of chips The fact is: we don't know what her reasons were, how she's doing or what she's going through. personally, i'm just happy she didn't start shooting up with all the god-damn flack she's getting. no wonder cobain, amy w. and so many others died young. The pressure is high, flaws are not allowed, and everyone has an opinion. We're lucky she's even making music tbh. -
well, I'd like to see it you'd make it in time to perform for 10s of thousands of people in a foreign country, whilst also juggling your wealth, relationships, family life, career, next album, contractual obligations, everyone's high expectations, a healthy body image, pets, and god-knows-what-else.

Disagree. She's a human. Not a robot. People wait for all kinds of services for 30 minutes or more - what's the big deal? You go to a doctor but they're slammed and ask you to wait. You wait. You go to have your hair done and the hairdresser wants to have a smoke because they've had the crappiest day. You let them have it. You go to a rock concert and the band shows up a bit later so you grab a fucking beer and chill. God, I wish everyone would just take their sticks out of their asses. The constant whining about celebrities not being PERFECT 24/7 is insane. I bet every one of those people who complains about Lana is routinely late 30 minutes or more to everything in their life, including showing up for work in the morning. Would bet my life on it.

What does everyone here think about the Glastonbury controversy? Couldn't find any Glastonbury threads for this discussion. My opinion: that audience is lucky, period. Lana is an absolute genius and she's getting flack all the fucking time. It's a miracle she still hasn't hung up her boxing gloves, said "fuck it," and retired. If she were a man or a band would they even do this? I saw her in Abu Dhabi a few years ago, she was 30 minutes late, but no one gave a fuck. She played a full concert, it was incredible, and the delay didn't phase anyone. I think the world today is just incredibly PC, nitpicky and and angry at everyone and everything. Remember Amy Winehouse being drugged out of her mind on stage just a decade ago? I honestly miss those days. This is seriously pathetic for everyone involved, especially Glastonbury, and it's not in the spirit of rock n' roll. If you want punctuality, go see the organ player in your local church, right?
