I’m not feeling the “there are multiple versions of Girl, so confusing with multiple female artists” theory. That would kinda make the Lorde version less special and run the whole concept of it into the ground. A big part of what makes this so monumental is because it’s Lorde, and the layers behind that. If she did this with Rina or whoever it would be such a non-event. I still see people throwing Marina’s name around (give it up) but their whole beef was never that deep and there’s really no depth to their dynamic. Their beef literally started and ended with Marina sending her fans after her for doing a similar photoshoot as her almost a decade ago, and present day they’re not friends. There’s really nothing more to it. It would not match the concept of the song.

I think Marina’s tweet felt calculated like she thought she had to comment on the song to save face. Maybe she did genuinely think it was beautiful, but the reason to publicly post about it was for her own benefit. It makes the public think positively of her because she’s “supporting” Charli. I don’t think Charli talks to her at all and that twitter interaction is probably all it will be.

Charli is sweet for speaking up and still defending Taylor for this. If it was the other way around, we all know Taylor would be unresponsive - she doesn't care about anyone but herself and will happily send her fans on witch-hunts 

i'm curious to see whether she will be up for any grammys with brat. it has become such a cultural phenomenon in a way that no other album this year really has and her contributions to pop music in general are long overdue to be recognized, add to that the overwhelming critical acclaim and i would be shocked if she wasn't nominated for anything. tortured poets department was kind of a huge flop for taylor even if the numbers did well, she's way too oversaturated at this point even with all her bribery and fraud i can't really see her winning aoty. radical optimism underperformed and i don't even know if they would categorize cowboy carter as pop or not. i think a win for ariana billie or sabrina would be the most likely but imagine charli winning aoty... gag. although i guess having a song on the album about bombing them might put a damper on her chances lol

As someone who LOVES drama, I for one, am happy to watch 274,451,581,587 reels while I'm on the toilet lying awake at 3 AM where she goes into a very obvious jealously-driven rampage.

What tickles me about it is that in all of the chaos that she sews, there's like, almost always these little kernels of truth in there. She'll go on about dragging Charli or Lorde or whomever else, but somewhere in the rant, there will be some point about how the industry works and how the money flows and a criticism of means-tested-crowd-approved music that in some small part actively discourages exploratory artistry in certain channels and markets, and it's like "Damn, she's got a good fucking point....", and then she zips right back to ragging on Charli for not being *checks notes* Indian enough???

It's so chaotic and it honestly FASCINATES the FUCK out of my white-collar, drama-free (mostly), inquisitive little mind, because never in a million years would I ever go through my life so publicly and unabashedly acting the way that she does and talking about and to people the way that she does. And yet, there she goes, cooking up some dandelion root tea and boxing up anal bleaching soap, while blaring 90's house deep cuts in the background, and sitting on IG live ripping into whatever unfortunate person dared to say her name backwards three times in a mirror.

At first I thought Crash was such a waste since I didn't like it and now it seems it's less succesfull than brat. Now however I think Crash once again made people aware of Charli, allowing for brat to reach more people. It was a stepstone towards future success.

Ending the deluxe album with a song about the grammies snubbing her is so meta and kinda perfect considering the mass critical acclaim this album has gotten. I was hoping she would keep 365 as the closer but having the party girl cycle continue after it with it going into a sad track that starts with “I don’t know what’s going on most of the time I’m out my mind”, and then going right into a song about getting ate out, and also ending that song with a fourth wall break directly addressing the listeners about wanting to guess the password to her google drive, and it then going into a previously teased song people have been wanting to get their hands on,,, and that song ending the album by basically being commentary about what might happen with the album while also being a part of the album but also outside of the standard album,, It all feels very intentional Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not AOTY
