You guys saying some things about the experimentation of MOTOMAMI, just remembers that Rosalía isn't a common pop girl, as well as Charli.
Who knows if in 2026 people will be considering MOTOMAMI as "avant-garde album, ahead of its time"?
Not saying that I consider MOTOMAMI the "Rosalia's Pop2/Yeezus", but certainly we're listening something fresh.

I never doubted Charli for a second with the sell-out concept.. so happy to see the majority loving it + it being received so well by critics. I feel like she is just one of those once-in-a-lifetime artists that has a true passion for music at its core.. like Bjork in a way. You can just tell she lives & breathes music.
Despite the short track lengths, the songs are all composed so well that they don't even feel that short. Crash is like a movie.. beginning, middle, & end.. AND THEN SOME!! at only 2:10!!! that takes talent, vision, a deeper understanding of music composition!! I've been a fan of Charli from the jump and I've always known she had that true understanding of music but it's so gratifying to see it applied to a sell-out mpg concept album. Crash is definitely one of her best albums.. for me it's a close second to Number 1 Angel.

Every Rule is so beautiful. The synths are perfect, the drums slowly getting louder & quiet again throughout the song… the post-chorus vocalizing with the perfect amount of autotune being turned up to 11… Charli isn’t known for her ballads but i swear, she’s just as good at them as Lana.

just a theory but charli has always said that taxi is sophie's song, and sophie's posthumous release is probably coming soon. maybe charli said that because it's on transnation or a compilation album?

Sometimes I wish she'd just thrown out XCX World in 2018, even as a mixtape...
The monthly drops was a perfect opportunity to promote a new album alongside a (already leaked) project for fans. I understand why she didn't but at least that way fans would've moved on from that era...
1999 and Blame It On Your Love as singles to promote it, alongside buzz singles Girls Night Out and No Angel. Which would still be monthly drops alongside 5 In The Morning and Focus which would promote the new 3rd album.
Plus the inclusion of After The Afterparty and Boys for streams and certifications.
That would've went down in XCX history, then she could've started a fresh with the 3rd album that would have become Charli.

I really don't like some debates you guys make in this thread, but since this one was going well, i'm here to defend Charli!
I don't think is a bad or weak album, but it's a really messy one inside her discography. The fact that it came out right after she made such career highlights (N1A and Pop2) puts the album against the wall too, but i do think that Charli is a consistent and genuine mess lol
To me, the biggest problem is the tracklist + the inconsistent tone in the sound. There's songs going to the general mainstream pop sound (and they are great) but they don't fit so well into the experiment, noisy and ''for fans'' stuff that is also in the album. And since the tracklist is a mess, we go up and down MANY TIMES and can't focus on one thing when we listen. But STILL.. It's a good album, and for me is a album for parties.
Charli came out when i was blasting in inumerous parties and clubs, and in Brazil we have some parties that are focused on Charli, hyperpop, PC Music stuff and everything related to the genre/scene. I can't count how many times i listened to the album in clubs and this is what made he so special to me. he deserves more love
and besides, we can always make our own tracklists and songs choice to make an album more consistent, my self titled for example has the EASYFUN Remix of 1999 and Dylan Brady's Blame It that are more coherent to the experimental and noisy side of Charli
