For one, that song is clearly mostly about Matty Healy😭 and two, “you shit talked me under the table, talking rings and talking cradles” and “we go from one kiss to getting married” those lines are referring to Matty promising marriage after Joe wouldn’t do those things for her. The entire album she sings about her wish for marriage. and she also fully shut down the marriage to Joe rumors with what Tree said to Deuxmoi. Sorry for being aggressive but the denial of what Taylor has outright stated and the misinterpretation of her songs is so insane to me.

I see The Anthology as an extended deluxe addition because I feel like there was absolutely 0 thought put into the track listing, I think it is one of her worst tracklists ever. Why is The Black Dog the opener? Why is The Albatross, one of the most folky songs on the record, right after imgonnagetyouback, which is a spacey vibey pop song? It only makes it worse that the standard TTPD has literally her best tracklist.

I def think loml is a mix of Joe and Matty (though I think her considering Matty the loss of her life is kind of ridiculous😭) . There are “motifs” she uses throughout the album for both of them and she mixes it heavily on that song. Also, after what Mer said I do think The Black Dog is about Joe.

Did they actually show him going to the pub? The only reason I was leaning Matty was because of The Starting Line lyric. Also it’s a super passionate song and the rest of the Joe songs are more depressed/ detached, with Matty getting all the in the moment sad songs lol. I did think it was about Joe at first because of what you said, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was about him.

I don’t think Fantano is misogynistic, though I think he can easily fall into those types of criticisms without realizing it, especially in his earlier reviews, but I do think he isn’t a great reviewer of pop music. I just don’t think that’s his genre and every “pop” review he does (outside of a few including ocean blvd) gives the impression of, “this is good, for a pop album”. I actually enjoy watching his reviews but I do think he was unfairly mean in this one and he falls into the trap of critiquing Taylor as a person/her drama rather than the music itself. I also do not agree this album is a Lana ripoff. There are some parts that are Lana-seque but I think this is the most Swiftian album she’s put out in years. Also I think people saying it sounds like Lana need to listen to the 1975 because that’s who she is intentionally ripping off lol.

Ivy being about Matty is insane, I hate Gaylors but damn they were onto something with Ivy 😭😭 There is no way that song is about a man
