it's so funny she uses the honeymoon insta yet hates to perform that album. i know why she doesn't like that album but it's just interesting she still uses that account and never changed the username. wish she performed more honeymoon other than the the interlude instrumentals

kinda curious who is pushing all the extra production this year? it seems to me its her team pushing this more than her. i know she loves her dancers and i do too but there's so much going on stage now. the whole set and production of everything is stunning but she seems more comfortable when her shows are simpler with her core couple of dancers. the production doesn't feel like it matches her or her music, it would suit her shows more if she did mostly bops idk -

kdjfgsd i couldn't watch along but i was able to stop so i could listen to the stream while driving. her vocals sounded beautiful from what i could hear. i was confused why it cut off and just heard the fireworks go off and started dying she looked gorgeous as always the straight hair was a serveee. hopefully she's not so late tomorrow. if she gets cut off a second night in a row she'll deff be throwing those plates -
You’re right, those aren’t technically southern gothic. I was more looking at it through Lana’s version of descriptions since she describes genres very loosely. COTCC was described as midwestern grunge and it did have that midwestern aspect, but I don’t think most would classify it as grunge necessarily. I think one of the obvious examples would be Ethel Cain. The artists I mentioned do lack that southern/americana style but imo I could see lana having a somewhat similar sound of an Americana version of hozier. I didn’t mean to imply it was an exact match to that genre but I see some similarities.

It’s interesting to see what she put in that highlight. She included a performance of the grants and unchained melody duet with jelly roll. Not sure if the grants was just for her aesthetic but unchained melody might be more southern gothic

She looks so summery and glowy I think this shade of blonde really suits her -
When I hear southern gothic production, one of the first lana songs that comes to mind is her cover of don’t let me be misunderstood. Henry come on seems more lighter imo it doesn’t have to be super pop necessarily. Southern gothic production sounds darker, it makes me imagine sitting under a willow tree at a cemetery next to a foggy swamp. Maybe the lighter she’s talking about is more of a storytelling style. OB was one of if not her darkest album lyrically, so almost anything she puts out would probably be lighter

id love an angry breakup song like before he cheats by carrie underwood

Definitely Venice bitch I think the first half of LFL is lighter. She said a little so I would assume she mostly means not delving into family and trauma as much. She does need a light in her music. Don’t get me wrong, I adore her deep and dark introspective lyrics, but it’s time for a change. The world has been so dark lately with all the world conflict & we are coming out of the pandemic. The music industry seems to have gone into a more fun and light direction lately like brat and rise and fall of a Midwest princess (I’d even argue eternal sunshine and cowboy carter). Those albums still have some introspective songs but the overall sound is lighter and happy. I’ve been listening to this playlist the past day as well

taco truck has more lighthearted lyrics compared to the rest of OB which is how she described the lyrics in lasso/new album i've been manifesting this vibe ever since she first announced lasso. i need this

I kinda think the reason she sounds less confident about this album is because a lot of her fans (more so in the beginning of her announcement) have not loved the idea of her going country. The public perception, especially media in the beginning of her career, have not treated her very well. I think she might be scared how people will perceive it, it’s risky. People now seem like they’ve warmed up to the idea, I think all the other country albums that came out have made it more mainstream. In a way it might help the album
