I get creeped out looking at some pictures of Lizzy Grant because of how different they look from Lana Del Rey. It's like seeing a ghost.

Lana Song You're Currently Obsessed With

Money Power Glory. The way she says Money! Power! And glory! fucking slays me. -
I think Lana just has a lot of fantasies of being fucked up female archetypes. I don't think she seriously wants to be a gold digger, but she probably thinks it's fun to think about and she's just indulging that in this song.

From Sad Girl, I thought she was saying, "His money on the side." I was never going to guess "His bonny on the side." I still don't know what the hell a bonny is.

So Lana's set is going to be 1 hour and 15 minutes long in comparison to The Black Keys whose set is 1 hour and 45 minutes long. I wish it was a little longer, but I'm going to try and enjoy every second of it. One of my friends had VIP tickets last year and she says it's definitely worth the money because the area is so much nicer and less crazy and you can go right up to the stage, so I'm super glad I got the VIP wristband now. -

Yeah the fact that she already has two videos shot kind of makes me think that she and Interscope are planning on promoting at least one of them well. -

Agreed, Wildest Dreams is the only track on 1989 that made me think "this is a Lana song." -

I was hoping her set would be earlier on in the day, but whatever I'm just happy I'll get to see her. I have a friend who's convinced she'll be able to see both Lana and the Black Keys even though I keep telling her they're playing at the same time... If the crowd ends up being split that's good news for me because I'm hoping it'll be a laidback atmosphere and not a crazy mob. I have a VIP wristband too. -
I got Dark Paradise. I think it's accurate for how I was, but not for how I am right now.

Just heard the song she's using for the tour intro and I love it, hope you guys are right about Honeymoon being somewhat similar. By the way, I've seen some people mentioning that Honeymoon will be Lana's attempt at a happy album. Did she say something to hint this or are people just assuming because of the title? -

Even though Lana might have pissed Interscope off before and after releasing UV, her indifference actually ended up ultimately benefiting them so I don't think they would drop her that easily. It takes a LOT of money to promote an artist and a single, and even without Interscope spending a ton of money trying to make UV successful, it still had sales that could compete with some of the most promoted artists out there. Ariana Grande was one of the most heavily promoted artists of 2014 with a bunch of successful singles, and her album has sold basically the same amount that UV has worldwide. UV's debut sales even managed to be bigger, despite no successful single. Lana's selling out venues that only huge artists can sell out. Most acts out there are playing at venues of around 5K people and are lucky if they can fill out a 10K+ venue, much less the 20K+ places Lana's performing at now. She might be a frustrating act, but I think it would be really hard for Interscope to drop her when she's making them as much as or more money than a lot of the artists they spend a ton of money promoting. -

I'm happy with the level of fame Lana has now and the weird middle ground she's in of being not fully indie or mainstream. The thing is she sells as many albums and can fill up huge venues like really mainstream artists with a ton of radio hits. So for now, the label lets her get away with not doing promo since all they care about is money. I think it would be nice for her to have another top ten hit like Summertime Sadness, but I don't ever want her to be the type of artist who's constantly being played on the radio like Katy Perry. Lana already hates fame as it is, so I don't think it would be good for her to become massive. And fame changes artists. I would like her to have another Rolling Stone cover, a Billboard cover, and an online campaign to create buzz around her videos and songs. I guess one TV performance or interview would be nice, but I can't think of any show where Lana wouldn't look out of place. -
I see this song as Lana telling people what it's like inside her mind. She tells us her influences—Marilyn, Elvis, Whitman, Jesus, Monaco (the official lyrics in the booklet say Monaco), and the "we get down" part is what I interpret as Lana's creative process or how she copes with things. I agree with the poster who said this song is deeper than people think. These are the people she goes to for comfort, the people she uses to create art.

I've been looking up a lot of videos of past Governors Ball crowds and they seem really chill compared to the pit in the video from that San Francisco show. In all the videos I've seen there are a lot of people but no pushing or shoving and some even show a lot of room to dance so people aren't squished together. I hope it's like that for Lana's set this year.

Everything by that account sounds like made up bullshit to me, but they're claiming that Rihanna's new album is dropping in two days on the 24th, so we'll see then how legit they are. -

Eh, the mainstream media barely pays attention to her anymore and the only people who would really know about this are her hardcore fans. I think it's a cool-looking necklace and it fits a lot of her music so I'd like them to start selling them again. -

What the fuck. -
Well luckily I have a VIP wristband and we're supposed to have access to a better area near the stage. @@fessle how were the Chicago crowds terrible? Like what did the people do exactly?
-
So I've never gone to a Lana show before but I'm seeing her in June in NY, and I've been looking up some experiences people have had at her concerts. I keep seeing comments from different people saying that her crowds are horrible. That people are rude and give off "shady" or just plain bad vibes. Can anyone say what their experiences have been at her shows and if the people who go are really that bad?

Honestly makes me wonder if she gets beaten in her real relationships. I know she says not to take some of her lyrics literally but her answer in her Rolling Stone cover story seemed like she was skirting around the issue. She said something like "I mean, I guess I'm attracted to people with a strong physicality" when the reporter asked her about "he hit me and it felt like a kiss."
