Sorry, I don't have a link, but I'm sure someone else will read this and respond with it soon (hopefully!) I just remember Lana making a comment that was lowkey shading Francesco for not letting her go to a party and stay home with him, and I guess now that I think about it, maybe we all just read into it too much and made assumptions about Francesco being controlling. He may not be at all, but he just comes across as that kind of guy to a lot of us. Anyway, I can't stop thinking about this song, and I only heard it properly once this morning SOFT ICE CREAAAAAM :candy: :candy: EDIT: Just noticed this gif is of cotton candy/fairy floss, not ice-cream smh I really thought it was ice-cream

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

I've only heard them once but to be honest I can't remember a single new melody, all I remember is the kind of vibe each song gives off, but nothing I couldn't have imagined based off of people's descriptions of the songs. I'm not necessarily waiting until September 18th though, I'm just waiting until we get them all in HQ, as I want my first Honeymoon listening experience to be super special! I'm still obsessed with Music To Watch Boys To, so I've been listening to that, which has stopped me from being so thirsty to listen to the crappy recordings again. -

Made some shitty Honeymoon cover arts using the new HQ shoot we just got, in case anyone is interested. I refuse to use either of the official cover arts, and at the moment I'm still using a HBTB Honeymoon edit Anyway, here they are: -
THIS. And there was also an interview Lana did where she said something about Francesco not letting her go to parties and making her stay home or something, and people reckon he is very controlling over Lana, and I think it's partly true judging by her comments about him in an interview she did.

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships

These are the parallels I've picked up. Good find! -
Definitely higher than BTD, but probably not as high as UV (truly her best piece of work imo, untouchable )

What if this is about Gaga? Gaga also references "the downtown scene" in a few of her songs. EXPOSED

- I personally refuse to listen to the LQ recordings more than once, because I want my first listen of Honeymoon in HQ to be special, and if I've replayed these shitty recordings a billion times beforehand, it won't be special at all. I mostly just wanted a quick listen to the recordings to get a feel for the album as a whole, but I didn't pay that much attention tbh, as I don't want to ruin my first proper listening experience. (Although, I did replay Salvatore about 10 times because it's probably the best song Lana has ever written!) It's gonna be so hard waiting another 5 days for the HQ versions of these songs!!! (well, possibly less days if it leaks early, which it probably will). I am so hyped for this album after everyone's reviews!! It's gonna slay me so much -

No one is saying 1989 is better than Honeymoon, nor are people saying Taylor's repetitive lyrics are better than Lana's. The fact of the matter is, Lana still has a lot of repetitive choruses where she literally repeats the same line over and over. Yes, these repetitive choruses may be better than Taylor's, but they're still repetitive and indicate lazy songwriting nevertheless. Sometimes I can make exceptions to repetitive lyrics, if the lyric is really creative and needs to be emphasised to make sense within the context of the song, but sometimes it's just lazy songwriting. I don't mean to be that person who brings up Sad Girl's chorus, but that's really just lazy songwriting from my point of view. Doesn't mean the song is bad, it just means the chorus drags on a bit. I really don't see why you attack every user that makes the slightest negative comment about Lana. She may be an amazing singer/songwriter, but you seem to forget that she is still prone to flaws like the rest of us, and this sometimes shows through in her songwriting. I'd take Lana's music over trash like 1989 any day, but I still would have to admit that Lana isn't perfect when it comes to being a lyricist. -
Too bad such a beautiful song was probably inspired by such a dickhead (Franny)

Here are my opinions on the songs after listening to the "new" recordings once… Honeymoon - Don't get the hate for it tbh, it's such a beautiful song and takes me somewhere else! Music to Watch Boys to - Probably one of my favorite tracks from the whole record. LOVE the lyrics and the exotic vibe it has! Terrence Loves You - As others have said, it is a very emotional track and it's beautiful, but one of the weaker moments on the record in my opinion. God Knows I Tried - Sounds like it'll be one of my least favourite moments of the record as well. The lyrics are rather repetitive. Hopefully in HQ it'll slay me though. High By The Beach - Love the vibe of this song. The beat is a bit amateurish but a nice song overall. My favourite part is the bridge, with that AKA throwback Freak - I knew this song would slay in full. LOVE IT! That beat makes me wanna take my body downtown, if you know what I mean Art Deco - For some reason, this song reminds me of JFK but with stronger beats, which I guess makes sense considering they're both produced by Nowels. Love the feel of this one! Burnt Norton - Love how old-fashioned it feels. Beautiful Religion - Don't have much to say about this one yet, as I've only heard all the recordings once and I can hear people taking off hangers and chatting more than the actual song Salvatore - Definitely the standout track to me! LOVE LOVE LOVE the Italian vibe it has. Too bad it was probably inspired by Franny The Blackest Day - Sounds like Blue Jeans 2.0 to me, both about the impact of losing a lover, both have very prominent guitar sounds in the instrumental. Love it so far! 24 - Not feeling this one much just yet, but I'm sure it'll be great once I hear it in HQ. Still don't like the lyrics at all though. Swan Song - A nice song, but unfortunately suffers from RCS (Repetitive Chorus Syndrome) Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Don't understand why everyone hates this one, it's a great closer and I LOVE the simplistic, jazzy feel it has. Overall I am IN LOVE with the sound of all these songs and I cannot wait to hear it properly in HQ. I deleted all the LQ recordings (well, except Salvatore because it's just too perf omg ) because I don't want to grow accustomed to the shitty versions and then have the HQ come out and be disappointed/tired of the songs immediately because I've replayed the snippets a billion times already lol. I feel like Lana has successfully managed to merge the styles and sounds of each of her previous eras, and I get flashbacks to past songs in almost every new song, which I love. She's created something new, but still has her signature sound. Kinda think it's funny that all our "dark blue" jokes came true. She literally says blue in like 80% of the songs lmao! -

Exactly what I'm doing. I only wanted to hear them once, to get a feel for the songs, but I just deleted them all because they're all so LQ and every now and then I hear someone pulling a hanger from a rack or a little alarm go off lmao But it was nice to hear what the songs sound like. Can't wait for them to slay in HQ! -
Not feeling this song as much as the others tbh

So I think I've decided I'm only going to listen to leaks if we get all of them in HQ (or at least listenable quality), because 1) I am not listening to shitty iPhone recordings recorded from the bottom of some kid's backpack all the way in the back of a noisy Urban Outfitters store, and 2) I wanna listen to the entire record as one entity, not in a random order. What are y'all gonna do if it leaks? Are you gonna wait until the official release or just listen? (I'm listening, don't kill me, I preordered it anyway so it won't effect Lana's sales) -
Honestly, it's funny how I went from absolutely loathing the lyrics to loving them almost completely (the chorus still ain't that great, but hey, that's Lana sometimes). I wrote a post a while back on another thread and I saved it on my computer somewhere and just found it again and realised I never posted it here, so in case anyone wants to read it, here's why I've come to love the Honeymoon lyrics after hearing it with the music so much… So, you know how in a few interviews Lana has said that in some of her songs (like West Coast and Video Games, for example) a portion of the song is based on reality while the other is focused around her inner fantasies... well, I think Honeymoon is another one of these songs. The verses seem to be about reality - her experiences with her lover have a slower instrumentation which could symbolise that reality isn't as grand or exciting as her fantasies. The instrumental intensifies into the chorus, where she sings about a 'honeymoon' with her lover, most likely what she envisions within her head, hence the more complex instrumentation. It's also quite fitting the 'dark blue' lines are right before the second verse kicks in, as it shows Lana sliding back into the reality that is life with her neglectful lover, as the lyric has a bit of a dark undertone. The bridge is almost an amalgamation of reality and fantasy - describing realistic qualities of her lover through deep imagery. Lana then slips back into the chorus for the last time, which now has an even dreamier sound, then she starts singing the 'dreaming away your life' lines which indicates that she is finally acknowledging that she is torn between reality and the world inside her head. The scatting towards the end is a symbol of Lana getting lost within her dreams. She attempts to soften the problems she encounters with her lover by escaping to a world inside her mind, where they are both happy and untroubled, however, deep inside of herself she is aware that dreams do not last forever - she is 'dreaming AWAY' her life. Although she knows that her mindset is detrimental, she can't help but turn back to it every time she remembers that things are not as smooth with her boyfriend as she wishes and dreams about. TL;DR - Honeymoon isn't just a song about being hopelessly in love with a bad boy, it's much more than that - it's Lana explaining how she has created a world within her head she can escape to when no other coping mechanism is enabling her to get by, and the instrumentation combined with the lyrics clearly show this. Anyway, that's just my theory... Please expand if you have anything to add
