Gonna list the track list in order of my favourite to least favourite... SOAP (such a creative & emotional song, love the soapy beats and the concept!! ) TRAINING WHEELS (such a cute song, that chorus is SOOO beautiful omg ) ALPHABET BOY (absolutely love the lyrics, especially the "a-a-a, ba-ba-ba-ba" part & the alliteration in the verses ) CAKE (the chorus sounds so much like an Allie X song, I am totally here for those lyrics, especially the homophone of "needing" and "kneading" in verse 2, that chorus is PERFECT! ) PLAY DATE (OMG I can't even explain what is making me love this song so much but it's slaying my existence, the production is BRILLIANT and those background vocals at the start and throughout SLAY ME, she sounds like a goddess & a bit like Marina, OMG ) MRS. POTATO HEAD (definitely has the best lyrics/concept on the album. The production is sort of minimalistic but it just works. Such a nice song! Well done, Mel ) PACIFY HER (such an awesome song, Mel's voice is so emotional here and she sings in a different tone to every other song which I love, the play on words in the title is genius, also a great song to replay) CRY BABY (not getting the hate for this song, I love it, a great title track & a great way to introduce everyone to the character of Cry Baby) PITY PARTY (this song probably has the best replay value on the album, the lyrics are so emotional & the production is awesome) TEDDY BEAR (the verses aren't anything out of this world, but the lyrics and the rest of the song are amazing, la la la la la la la la) TAG, YOU'RE IT (not gonna lie, I think some of you have overhyped this a bit. While I understand the purpose of the voice filter for the parts the wolf is saying, I find it extremely annoying. The lyrics are awful at points too, but luckily the production/melody makes up for it) CAROUSEL (one of the few songs where she sings in a different voice register) DOLLHOUSE (I think I like the concept and the lyrics better than anything else, the melody/production/Melanie's voice isn't that good tbh) SIPPY CUP (one of the weaker tracks on the album imo, the production is tiresome by the end & the concept really isn't that great) MILK AND COOKIES (not here for this track tbh, the production is nothing special at all, and I feel as if this is the most filler-y track on the album) MAD HATTER (the only song I have to skip every time, I HATE the production & although the lyrics are quite poetic, I think the idea behind the song is extremely basic. The aggressive feel also doesn't really fit the album's concept tbh. Not feeling this song AT ALL. Too bad I was hyped for this song )

I think it's mostly referencing all the media that would arrange interviews etc. disguising it as "paying tribute" to her, but really their intentions were just to get a story out of her, hence the "never bought into your bullshit" line following this. I think it took Lana some time before she noticed that more often than not, the media weren't trying to help her promote her work & they had no interest in analysing her art, all they wanted to do was manipulate her into saying something controversial or painting her as inauthentic, fake, unoriginal, etc.

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
delreyfreak replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
Sounds like something Lana would do tbh, write a big "fuck you" song to someone who probably screwed her over & tried to control her in every way, then releasing it on their birthday just to make them feel even worse. This is why I love Lana. She has the best "don't give a fuck" attitude and I really admire it, she's such an independent woman -
While I get what you're saying, I'm not sure I'd agree that most of the general public liked HM. Just go through the Youtube comments on the video and almost every second or third comment is someone from the GP complaining that the song is "boring", "uninspired" etc. But apart from that, I think you're right. It seems to be only the hardcore fans who want Lana to go back to her past eras.

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread
delreyfreak replied to ilovetati's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Just thought I'd point this out, that @@ChinaDoll.palace Instagram account keeps posting the same images as Lana right BEFORE Lana posts them. They said that Lana would announce something in "45 minutes" and then literally in 45 minutes Lana posted that billboard image with the date. They also posted that behind the scenes video of HBTB before Lana did, as well as that fan art that is now the Honeymoon avatar pic. They're also claiming that Lana has big news coming over the next few days, and I think we should listen… they seem to be involved behind the scenes or something, like Lana's disciple or something lmao. Idk how they've gotten every detail correct so far. What do you think?? -

Same. The beat in the chorus sounds so similar! -
The Man I Love: "All that's real to me is Marilyn and Jesus" etc. HBTB: "I can't survive if this is all that's real"

Thanks for explaining this, it's actually helped me to understand the song a lot better. It's almost as if she's singing "hey, I'm famous and successful and happy without you" to a past lover from long ago who used to control her. I think the "high by the beach" bit could reference her current life how she's living literally by the beach, and she possibly uses marijuana, like you said, but literally at her house. Good analysis, I was struggling to find a meaning like this, so thanks! -
I agree, it's like she's taken the best elements from all her works (except her amazing lyricism, which was thrown off the boat around the time of UV ) and merged them into a powerhouse song.

Is this really that unpopular on this forum though?

So crazy to think there could be almost another 100 Lana songs just sitting in someone's iTunes right now. The person that leaked the 6 new songs the other day claimed they were "bottom barrel" material, I'm guessing this could mean they have heaps of HQ studio versions of other unleaked songs (or they could just be making that up)

I actually like this idea a lot tbh. I know that people can do what they want & if Lana wants to take drugs by the beach then that's her decision, but I've never been a big fan of how she constantly name drops drugs and makes such an effort to glamorise them, which I feel like she almost does in this song. I feel like if this was sarcastic it would actually have a lot more meaning that if she literally just wants to "get high by the beach" Also, mess @ me being right like 10 pages back when I speculated that Lana would find some way to incorporate her drug obsession into a song. The whole chorus of this song is basically screaming yayo to me lmao -

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

The only major thing I'm not loving about this era so far is some of the awful lyrics (the choruses of both Honeymoon & HBTB are probably some of the worst lyrics Lana's ever written). I'm also struggling to understand what the fuck HBTB is actually about? Like, from what I can grasp she says "fuck you" to her lover and leaves him to get high on the beach, which is so random. I also don't like the production for the last 10 seconds or so, I wish it ended a bit better. Unfortunately, nothing from the Honeymoon era has been as iconic or snatched my weave like West Coast did, but despite that, I'm loving everything we've gotten so far and I cannot wait for the remainder of the album. Lana has never disappointed thus far with her works, and I really can't see Honeymoon being an exception at this point. -
You did a great job! I can't see anything else that seems to need fixing tbh
-
Her vocals have gotten so much better and her sound has improved so much since BTD tbh. Her lyrics, not so much, unfortunately, but luckily the music makes up for it. I can't stop replaying High By The Beach, it's perfect
-
@ Add in these lines right before the outro: "High, high High, high" I know it's not super important but it kinda annoys me they're missing lol
-
It's official… I'm no longer gay, Lana has made me straight omg

i am reborn

The song is SOOOOO GOOOOOOD OMG, but some of the lyrics are kinda awful but oh well UV had some horrible lyrics too and that album SLAYED MY EXISTENCE, just like this song is. OMG I'm making no sense right now because this song is SO FUCKING FANTASTIC OMG
