So you know how Lana has said that in a lot of her songs (like West Coast and Video Games, for example) one portion of the song is based on reality and the other is focused around her inner fantasies… well, I think Honeymoon is another one of those songs... The verses seem to be about reality - her experiences with her lover have a slower instrumentation which could symbolise how reality isn't as grand or exciting as her fantasies. The instrumental intensifies into the chorus, where she sings about a 'honeymoon' with her lover, most likely what she envisions within her head, hence the more complex instrumentation. It's quite fitting the 'dark blue' lines are right before the second verse kicks in, as it shows Lana sliding back into the reality that is life with her neglectful lover. The bridge is almost an amalgamation of reality and fantasy - describing realistic qualities of her lover through deep imagery. Lana then slips back into the chorus again for the last time, which has a very dreamy sound, then starts singing the 'dreaming away your life' lines, which to me, indicates that she is finally acknowledging that she is torn between reality and the world inside her head. The scatting towards the end is a symbol of Lana getting lost within her dreams. She attempts to soften the problems she encounters with her lover by escaping to a world of her own inside her mind, where they are both happy and untroubled, however, deep inside of herself she is aware that dreams do not last forever - she is 'dreaming AWAY' her life. Although she knows that her mindset is detrimental, she can't help but turn back to it every time she remembers that things are not as smooth with her boyfriend as she wishes and dreams about. Honeymoon isn't just a song about being hopelessly in love with a bad boy, it's much more than that - it's Lana explaining how she has created a world within her head she can escape to when no other coping mechanism is enabling her to get by. Anyway, that's just a quick explanation of the summary I've come to after having Honeymoon on repeat non-stop since it came out. Please expand on this if you have any of your own ideas

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

The real question is… how will Lana manage to incorporate yayo onto Honeymoon? She's somehow managed to include yayo in some form on every release of her albums AKA - Yayo Born to Die - Yayo (reworked) on the Paradise edition Paradise - Yayo (reworked) UV - Florida Kilos lmao Lana loves her yayo -
I prefer the final version of Live or Die to the demo. Also, the Maha Maha demo is better than the finished product

omg so true. I know Lana loves being enigmatic and mysterious but I mean, girl, there's only so far you can go lmao

"Life Is Beautiful" - Soundtrack for The Age of Adaline
delreyfreak replied to Trash Magic's topic in New Releases
Totally agree. That's my biggest problem with Ultraviolence tbh. The production, melodies and overall vibe of the music was pretty good but some of the lyrics on UV were horrid, mostly in the choruses *cough cough* Sad Girl chorus, Pretty When You Cry chorus, etc. Unfortunately it looks like Honeymoon might have a lot of repetitive lyrics in the choruses too, hopefully the melodies and sound of production are good enough to overcome the lack of clever lyricism that she expressed throughout the entirety of BTD (excluding DMD perhaps). -

For the billionth time, this thread is a complete mess… -
Truly horrific. Can't believe people let this happen around the world. No one should be killed for anything, ESPECIALLY something one cannot control (race, sexuality, disability, etc.) Putin disgusts me tbh.

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
delreyfreak replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
I was recently listening to TV in Black & White, wondering who it's about. I've always associated it with K, since she mentions prison, much like every other K song, but then I realised the "Greenwich avenue" line and I now wonder whether the song actually has any association to Arthur Lynn, or whether I'm reading into this too much? Also, who do we think Young & Beautiful is about? I've always thought it to be about K too, since there's the "Dear Lord, when I get to heaven, please let me bring my man. When he comes, tell me that you'll let him in" and the "channeling angels" lines. I've always associated these lines with K's possible death, but now I'm also wondering if this song is not really about K at all either, considering the rock and roll lines that seem to be associated with Jimmy and the other "local rockstars" she sings about. My other theory is that Lana combines imagery from multiple lovers to produce interesting songs. I think sometimes she simply creates a line or an idea inspired by a lover then continues writing the song including other ideas inspired by other lovers. It's almost as if she's just created an aesthetic for herself that she sticks to in almost every song - like she isn't always singing about a specific guy in each song, perhaps an amalgamation of multiple exes. Idk, just a thought… -
I just made a lyric video for their new song, "Foundation", if anyone is interested! If not, then just ignore!

"Honeymoon" Song/Video Preview (UPDATE: 2nd Snippet)
delreyfreak replied to Sitar's topic in New Releases
This would actually make a lot of sense. It even says it's a "jungle" themed thing, which would fit with all the tropical theories people have had about Honeymoon, and all the tropical imagery in the snippet so far. -

Don't worry, Olly said in an interview that "Shine" has the most generic pop sound on the record, which I'm guessing is part of the reason you dislike it: since the popiness of it takes away from the emotion a bit. I think the remainder of the songs will probably have just as much as emotion as their other songs. Remember that the singles are generally the most generic material.

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

No. But it's definitely lighter and more upbeat than UV. UV is definitely Lana's darkest body of work. -
1. How did you discover Lana? When and What Era? I heard Summertime Sadness and Born to Die just after Paradise had come out then went back and got addicted to all of her music. 2. First song(s)? Summertime Sadness, Born to Die, Young & Beautiful 3. What did you think? At first I actually didn't like her music but after hearing a few of her songs a few times I fell in love pretty quickly! 4. Your favourite song(s)? Blue Jeans, West Coast, Shades of Cool, Million Dollar Man, Gods & Monsters, Bel Air (not doing unreleased or I'll be here 100 years, since so many are so good!) 5. Least favourite song(s)? Diet Mountain Dew & Flipside 6. What song(s) "grew" on you? I didn't like West Coast at all on first listen but now it's my all-time favourite song by any artist. Can't really think of any other songs by Lana I hated at first. 7. Whats your favourite Lana era as of now? (May jailer, Lizzy Grant, Lana Del Rey) Lana Del Rey. That era has the most cinematic sound, which I love. 8. Favourite Album(s)? Ultraviolence is my favourite, although I listen to Born to Die a LOT as well. But they're all amazing! 9. Least favourite(s)? AKA is my least favourite, but if that doesn't count, then Paradise (it's a beautiful album but it's not very cohesive sonically and tracks like Cola, Blue Velvet and Body Electric are some of Lana's worst materials in my opinion). 10. Favourite songs preformed live? Million Dollar Man, Shades of Cool, Ride (she always does these REALLY well!) 11. First song/Album purchased/Downloaded? Born to Die - The Paradise Edition 12. Favourite song quotes/lyrics? "There's no remedy for memory; you're face is like a melody, it won't leave my head." "I still remember that day we met in December." The National Anthem bridge All of the West Coast lyrics There's heaps of memorable lyrics in Off to the Races I love as well.

Someone please de-capitalize the S in the title: it currently reads Lana'S Fib About Her Age-Some Thoughts… and it's really bugging me
