LIFE IMITATING ART AKA HAUNTED BY LANA DEL REY
delreyfreak replied to AngelHeadedHipster's topic in Lana Thoughts
Had Honeymoon on repeat this morning, and I got to Salvatore as I was reading an article about the Parisian attacks a few hours ago, when I noticed this article suggestion on the side of my page, at the exact moment that the lyric "and tangerine dreams" came up in the song. It was a crazy moment! The caption also reminded me of the Ultraviolence music video. Oh, how everything seems to remind me of Lana! -
Sending my love & thoughts to the sick family member in Marina's family right now. Hope everything will be alright <3

Excerpt from an article outlining the horrific ISIS terror attacks in Paris a few hours ago: At least 149 people are said to have been slaughtered in the French capital in a series of co-ordinated attacks last night. A gunman reportedly shouted "it's for Syria" and "Allahu Akbar" – the Arabic for "God is great" – before slaughtering around 100 music fans at a concert hall. The attacks came just hours after British ISIS butcher Jihadi John was said to have been killed by a US drone strike in Syria. And several ISIS supporters celebrated the horror attacks attacks using the sick hashtag 'ParisIsBurning'. This is truly disgusting & I hope that these sorts of attacks will stop one day, because I can't even bare the thought of all of this Sending my love & support to all the Parisians affected by this horrible event <3 <3 <3

Azealia Banks Not Okay With Gay Men Using the Word 'Bitch'
delreyfreak replied to PARADIXO's topic in Music
I agree. If you really need to call someone a name, then surely using a non-specific offensive word is better than using one that is homophobic/racist/sexist/agist/ whatever. There are plenty of words like this, like idiot, doofus, etc. (can't think of many right now, but there are so many other non-specific words people could use if they really have to call someone something) -
Azealia Banks Not Okay With Gay Men Using the Word 'Bitch'
delreyfreak replied to PARADIXO's topic in Music
What are you on about? How were they supposed to write the sentence without using them?? Yes, they probably should have censored them with stars *** but still, they didn't use them towards anyone, they said that people should stop using them. Honestly you are just being ridiculous right now. -
I feel like this thread just turned into "post pics of hot guys"

ok true, Lana does this as well. But the difference is that she never promises to release them, unlike Marina, who has promised on several occasions that INHA would be released at some point, but then retracts that statement. Although Lana lies a lot about random things like her age and her past, she has never actually promised something then taken it away. She's only ever mentioned her ideas or "wishes" for things, so when she doesn't make it we can't be mad because she never technically "promised" it. Don't know if any of that made any sense, sorry

I completely agree. At first I was very disappointed because it seems to me that lately she's lost a bit of interest in her fanbase and it looks as if she doesn't really want to focus on music that much more and would rather just live out her own personal life. However, after thinking about things, I'm not angry anymore. Yes, it's a bit annoying that she won't be meeting fans anymore, but at the end of the day, she isn't obligated to give up HER OWN TIME to hold M&G's. They were simply a bonus thing she did because she's a nice person and she loves her fans. I think it's quite reasonable that she feels the need to cancel them, considering that 1) there are so many horrible and disrespectful fans nowadays and it's unfair for her to continuously put up with them, and 2) there is no way to have a fair meet and greet system that is free of charge. Honestly, if I were her, I would just start charging people for M&G's, as that's really the only fair way to do it, as only dedicated fans would be willing to pay. However, I get why she wouldn't want to do them anymore. I think it's purely selfish when fans say that it's "unfair" or "rude" or that she doesn't love her fans anymore because she's not doing one extra thing that she previously did. Understand this... Marina's life should not and does not revolve completely around a bunch of people she has never met. There is no reason that she MUST do meet and greets. Isn't the fact that she performs for hours for people enough already? Like, do you think she tours for herself? I highly doubt it. It's for the fans. And that should surely be enough. If there's anything I'm mad at Marina for right now, it's the way she's been handling the I'm Not Hungry Anymore mess. She can't keep saying "it's coming," "I'll rework it,", "you'll get one more song from the Froot studio sessions" etc. etc. if she has no intention of actually releasing it. I've never heard of an artist that previews a song and says they'll release it, but never does. It's absolutely ludicrous. It's not just the fact that she won't release it that's annoying, it's the fact that she's been full of empty promises for so long, lying about its release. LIEESSS, DON'T WANNA KNOW, DON'T WANNA KNOWWWW...

Honestly, I like the album even better than I Love You (I think) The Beach is still the biggest highlight for me - amazing production, very emotional and some inspired lyricism My other favourites are the title track, Prey, Cry Baby, Baby Came Home 2 and Daddy Issues (which I made a lyric video for. If anyone is interested I've posted it below!) I love the overall coastal vibe of the album, it makes me think that if Ultraviolence had been produced by Emile Haynie, this is probably what it would have sounded like (and although I love Wiped Out! and Emile's production, I'm still glad that Dan Auerbach produced UV, because his production was exceptional!) The lyrics aren't that great tbh, but I don't listen to The Neighbourhood for clever lyricism like I might with Lana, Marina, and so on. I listen mainly for the melodical side of things: vibe, the production, the instruments, you get the gist.

Thank you for adding Honeymoon. Would you also be able to add the new leaks (Riverside, Cry Me A River, Joshy And I, etc.) up there, just for the sake of keeping it updated.

Thank you for this. You explained it beautifully! I still think it's a bit of a messy metaphor personally, but it does make sense now that you've outlined what she meant.

When her voice almost breaks in Swan Song: "and you won't work another day" Gets me every time

All I can say is that I hope she creates something completely new, fresh and exciting. Although I LOVE Honeymoon and there isn't a song on it I would even consider skipping, I do feel like it just rehashes a lot of her typical imagery and sounds. I can't really explain it in words, but I feel as though Honeymoon is her least inspired album, despite having so many amazing moments. I hope she creates her next album with a new producer (yes, I love Rick, and they're a great team but working with someone else will ensure that there's a newly developed sound). I love how she went from Paradise to Ultraviolence, like they were such different sounds and UV truly explored a new sound for her.

A few opinions of mine that have changed… At first, Born to Die was by far my favourite album, and although I liked UV and Paradise, I didn't think they were as good as BTD. But now, when I rank the albums, UV and AKA both come before BTD. (Paradise has almost always been my least favourite however). At first, I thought West Coast was one of her most mediocre songs, but now, boy oh boy have my opinions changed. West Coast is now my favourite song ever from any artist. It's so dark yet beautiful, and those iconic, intense synthesisers at the end of the song literally kill me every time. I never used to like AKA very much, I didn't really like the country/rural imagery presented in it, but now, I love the entire album and the imagery is one of my favourite things about it. I used to only listen to a few songs (Jump, QOTGS, Gramma, Pawn Shop Blues), but now I can really appreciate the artistry in all of the songs and I only skip For K Part 2, because idk it's just a tad inferior to the other songs. I never used to be an "album person" at all, I would listen to lots of individual singles, but never really full albums. But since listening to Lana, I've appreciated how cohesive albums can be and how they tell stories when you listen the whole way through. Not only am I an "album person" now, but I find myself putting my playlist with Lana's entire released discography from AKA to Honeymoon on quite a lot. All the albums flow perfectly from one another. I used to hate This Is What Makes Us Girls and Money Power Glory but thankfully I saw the light because they're both amazing When the Honeymoon album cover art was released, I HATED it. Luckily it's grown on me since then (I still think it's her least flattering cover art and it should have just been used as a promo shoot, but I do appreciate the message it portrays in relation to voyeurism) I used to think that a lot of unreleased songs were better than actual released songs, but since then, my opinion has changed so much. I think I just used to be attracted to a lot of her more upbeat pop stuff that was unreleased, but since then I've started to hate most kinds of pop music & I find Lana's actual discography covers more unique sounds and atmospheres.

wtf is your icon hun?? I'm scarred -
pathetic. They should at least check what her last albums scored before saying its "her best"

I agree, one of her best songs imo. Love it. it's one of the more "organic" sounding BTD songs imo
