NME Awards "Best International Solo Artist" nomination
delreyfreak replied to Wild One's topic in Awards & Nominations
Love how she's finally getting all these awards/nominations!. It's about time!! -
I believe in karma. It's found in almost every religious text, just not always referred to as 'karma'. Even the Bible says that those who engage in wrongdoing will face the consequences at some point, and those who do good will receive rewards. Gosh, I probably sound like a religious nuthead (trust me, I'm far from it!) but regardless of what religion says about karma, I do believe it's true. I see its force in action and work all the time.

The album is even better than I'd thought. I'm particularly obsessed with Cool, Heaven, Suburbia and for him.

Lana Del Rey Talks "Big Eyes" for the Weinstein Company
delreyfreak replied to Sitar's topic in Latest News
woah, this was an entire year ago SHIT time flies -
Didn't think it was possible to get worse than the standard cover art, but I guess I was wrong
-
Completely agree. Yes, it's pathetic that this happened, but we kind of have to admit that this is Lana's fault at the end of the day - SHE was the one that showed her entire house to the world

Rank Honeymoon Tracks from Best to Worst

This makes me sad - Honeymoon is one of my faves #justiceforhoneymoon -
It's quite simple, list your favourite Honeymoon tracks from your favourite to least favourite. Here's my ordering (although be wary, they seem to change daily lol) Honeymoon Music To Watch Boys To Salvatore High By The Beach Freak Terrence Loves You Religion Swan Song The Blackest Day God Knows I Tried Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Art Deco 24 Burnt Norton
-
In no specific order: Born to Die Would have kept this the same but made either Radio, Without You or Diet Mountain Dew as another single (even though none of these are her best material), but since these are all quite "mainstream" sounding & repetitive, I think they would have done quite well as singles. Paradise Even though I think Cola is the worst song on Paradise (personally I much prefer her more personal and emotional songs), I think it had the potential to cause controversy and be a good single to attract more attention to Lana. I think the singles picked were quite good though. Ultraviolence My personal favourite single run - every song selected was absolutely perfect, ESPECIALLY West Coast - such an intense, dramatic song!! I personally feel, however, that Florida Kilos should have been on the deluxe after The Other Woman, as it could have been a perfect single since it's so upbeat but still has that unique Lana feel about it. Honeymoon This is where I feel the singles were selected most poorly. High By The Beach was a good choice as a single since it's quite a mainstream song & obviously attracted a bit of attention, as she hadn't had a very "mainstream" sounding song like this since Born to Die. Terrence Loves You and Honeymoon, while being two of my favourite tracks off of the album, were kind of horrible single choices, as neither really attracted much attention at all, apart from her already committed fanbase. I feel like Music To Watch Boys To was a good single, it had more of a beat unlike TLY/HM, and the video was brilliant (despite the lack of colour). Salvatore should have been a single for sure (hoping she will release it as a single soon, possibly with a video, hopefully!) Freak or Art Deco could be really good singles as well!

Posted this on the "Best LDR Musical Moment" thread, but thought I'd post it here too: The pre-chorus of Religion slays me every time. Overall, the song isn't as good as some of the others on Honeymoon, but that pre-chorus just hits me every time, it's emotional and moving and I feel like it's one of the first times where she's literally said that she doesn't care about the money, the partying & the good life in general, but more about the love she felt. Like it's a nice contrast after so many songs like National Anthem ("money is the anthem of success" among many other similar references), Money Power Glory (even if it was sarcastic), Bel Air (an affluent area), Cola ("I wear my diamonds on Skid Road - showing off her wealth to a poor neighbourhood), Million Dollar Man ("one for the money"), Off to the Races (all the casino references), etc. which all focus on how important money/wealth is to her. Idk, that part of Religion just always gets me. Such poignant lyricism and an emotional melody.

Just feel like I have to say this... Can we all PLEASE stop posting about other artists in the HONEYMOON POST RELEASE THREAD!!? It's super annoying & I don't come here to read about how amazing xyz's new album or song is, I'm here for Lana. And Lana only. Take your half assed comparisons to another thread please because most of us don't want to hear it anymore. It's so annoying! Thank you. Rant over. -

Well, to be fair I don't watch the news very much or pay much attention to it because almost every current affairs channel is bullshit - they fabricate and manipulate everything just for a story. Usually I just read stories online, so maybe that's why. But I'm just saying in general, at least where I live, we don't have any channels that focus equally as much on stories from other countries - it's more just stories from the western world.
-
I agree. I think a lot of people know that things like this happen all over the world all the time, but because events like that in other nations are generally not televised/broadcasted to the western world, it's very difficult to actually be aware of particular events. Even though it's nice to see so many celebrities, public figures and just normal people sending their love to Parisians and others affected by this horror, it does beg the question why most of us tend to only focus on things like this when it is within the western world? Why does the media not want to show equally, and in a lot of cases, even worse scenarios from other continents/places? It's disturbing to think that these things happen so often and half the time we aren't even aware of it, because it's only broadcasted if it's generally in the western world/if there's horrific footage.
