LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Sitar replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
Everyone is turning their back on the American Dream AKA idea that Lana loved a guy a death row -
Ooh so Lana covers loads of genres effortlessly and everyone can find something to like in my opinion. I'll list some because YouTube pitches nearly all her videos. Best sadcore - Without You - Yayo - I Don't Wanna Go Best upbeat pop - Driving in Cars With Boys - Butterflies Part 2 - Gogo Dancer - Every Man Has His Wish - Kinda Outta Luck Best rock - Raise Me Up - Velvet Crowbar - Tired of Singing the Blues Best hip-hop: - Off to the Races - Ridin' (with A$AP Rocky) - Dum Dum (kinda?) Best alternative: - Mermaid Motel - Golden Grill - Kill Kill Best acoustic: - Pawn Shop Blues - Get Drunk - Your Band is All the Rage Go nuts.

I sincerely hope they sell out in seconds and you have to buy them for double the price like me because I'm bitter

LOVELANALIKELIFE-ANALYSIS: Relating Songs to Known/Assumed Lana Songs
Sitar replied to FROGGO's topic in Lana Thoughts
Sighhhhhh why did all his videos get privatized I want to do more God Save Elizabeth destroys careers and I'm not joking. -
And with the shrieks and the right production it could be like the less cutesy side of the bratty French pop she's going for Maybe she realizes its genius but didn't think it was right for her ~sacred debut~ That or I'll convince her if I meet her

Ask if she'll bring any of her new songs/influences to her second US leg. That's a nice safe question and could give us some info. New video/single. Release date. MESS. No must be professional

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Sitar replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
I struggle with this one to, but a way to defend it being about K is the fact that she sings I'm in love with a dying man, rather than dead man. He's rotting in prison, not coming out soon, and she struggles with how to conduct her relationships while he's there and she's still in love. Maybe she wants to be free of the burden and be with other men ("Ray"?), essentially leaving him, although she admits that it equates to cheating in her mind in "Gangsta Boy". Something extremely important about "Kill Kill" is the ocean imagery. Take both former titles--The Ocean and Florida Dark. Now consider lines from obvious K song--I'm lying in the ocean singing your song; Remember Coney Island and how we’d wade into the water ‘til the waves turned blue. Other ocean/Florida songs appear to include "Elvis", "Methamphetamines", "You & Me". Definite K candidates. "Kill Kill" just happens to be particularly vague. Well of course she has an obsession with him but there is ample evidence in "Axl Rose Husband" that she's singing about Arthur and not a celebrity crush. A husband who recalls Axl Rose, I guess. "Ride" for sure. -
Yeah yeah I updated my masterzip with it, is that okay? (Meaning you'd have to re-DL other shit)

It looks like it, loads of fansites are reporting it. So much is wrong with this tracklist...I mean I love all the songs that are included and I can't say that there were any snubs but the order bothers me. Like 400 Lux shouldn't be that early and White Teeth Teens shouldn't be that late...they could completely trade places. And then Royals and Ribs shouldn't be right next to each other. And although I haven't heard Glory and Gore it's giving me Bravado pt. 2 and should be the opener

Strange Love was a very important leak in making this flow
-
I'll say it, her short hair isn't doing it for me.
-
Inverted crosses are just an image/fashion thing for loads of people ffs

Literally princess high. It seems like Marina helped her channel creativity without drugs. I don't know which one to buy! Probably the big wig one. Goddamn

But like what else does she have to go on when Lana's only explicit words on feminism are that she doesn't partake? Convoluted interpretations of empowerment through submission that LDR's just being secret about? lbr Lana should have something to say on the topic But I sent her an ask on tumblr with that Pawn Shop Blues rec

Oh wow, for Lana I'd go for a not-that-depressing option..."Angels Forever, Forever Angels" could work, for obvious reasons. Otherwise I love this song and it's a multi-purpose wedding/funeral song Just gonna drop it here w/o listening because I can only listen to it like every few months without having an existential panic attack. Just...the fucking lyrics get me: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/catpower/colorsandthekids.html

Wait for it.... Better Welcome! Buy ha shit! (Or I can help you with links) I will probably add the KCRW broadcast and Splendour in the Grass to my Lorde masterzip because they're professional but she also has loads of awesome live songs

I have arrived. Lorde is a Lana fan, let's start with that. Even down to the simplest teenage girl habits of captioning her Instagram pictures with her lyrics. Is she a fan like any of us? Obviously not. I'd even call her a "casual listener". Ella (lmao Lorde is hardly an alterego for her I feel uncomfortable carrying on a discussion calling her that) has a very mature personality from what I can tell but at the end of the day she is also an opinionated 16-year-old and she's allowed to have that, whether or not any young people who spend loads of time actually listening to Lana's entire discography are ~super enlightened~ I don't see this as an insult at all but I think she's trying to say that this isn't stuff that she's aiming for in her music. Not so much that she's trying to be the antithesis to LDR and I think there's obvious respect. Lana's message is extremely, achingly genuine, and at times it can be a little concerning in that way. Would I want her to stop? No. All I think Ella is doing is saying that she wants to offer a different viewpoint. In other interviews she's said the same about other pop singers, including Selena Gomez, so you can choke if you think this is some kind of vendetta against Lana. She's a fan. She's making a radical statement? No, she was asked about it and has given similar opinions on other parts of pop culture. You mean we, on LanaBoards, are only hearing about the part where she mentions Lana? Shock and awe. Beyond establishing that there's no hatred whatsoever, I can't say I agree with her opinion after listening to Lana for all this time but again it's her opinion. Tbh she's probably just perceived it in a way that Lana didn't intend. Fault her for that but nothing else. I would love her to know a bit more about Lana before discussing her (praise to the bonus track mention, though). Gonna tweet her a bunch to see if she'll listen to AKA to her being called a tumblr fad, though, her success is cummin

iTunes, mine only has 5. Yes, I would love that. BOWING to your Patrick Wolf avatar also.

Will PM you. You lost me at "Mascara"...it seems like all fake Gaga tracklists have something to do with makeup. And apparently there will be a bonus track for Japan, so let's pray it's not just a remix.

Jeff Koons, child. ARTPOP collaborator. And just so everyone knows, there is an "Applause" demo that has lost publicity due to the fact that the official version premiered. But it is most certainly different.
