I honestly want to take a moment and appreciate hiadt because I think without it, we wouldn't really have songs like White Dress, Blue Banisters, and maybe even Textbook. I know people like to joke about Jack's 'piano flops' but it really, really woke up the melancholic singer/songwriter in Lana imo. it's still one of the most depressive songs I know

textbook’s verses remind me a lot of Nancy Sinatra, specifically Bang Bang. Now all we need is a Some Velvet Morning cover !

listened to SOC and VB really high last night lol I hope she'll have more long 'take you on a journey' songs like them on BB <3 -
i loved NFR especially MAC/VB. COCC was okay to me but I do think the title track and WD are some of the best in her discography. I'm ready for new producers at this point but just looking at Mike Dean's discography with black artists vs white artists there's a clear difference and I just hope Lana makes the right decisions. ik it's easy to blame it all on Jack but some of the decisions on Lana's image/music as of lately seem to be obviously her choice

kinda rando but I went to the location where that one clip in the Venice MV is located (the one in my sig)! it's in SF and it's called Ocean Beach and it's actually kinda close to my apartment but I haven't gone in a while since it's been foggy/windy. It was a clear day today though so I never really appreciated the area until I saw the video and it's been one of my favorite places in SF ever since (i always listen to VB while watching the sunset!). it looks kinda different today because they've made changes over time but it still has the same charm and is absolutely beautiful during the sunset. the surrounding area is even more beautiful imo this is what it looks like the opposite direction

also rob's "this is one of my faves!" comment (does anyone have that screenshotted omg)

i'm always amazed when white ppl/europeans are insecure about their nose asjdjsadl where my parents are from (philippines) people would pay thousands just to have lana's natural nose

i know basically no one wants this but imma manifest anyways sksksksk -
DL is catchy and I actually love the production on deja vu, I just can't get over her singing style easily my least favorite aspect of late 2010's whispery pop, looking forward to her new album though!

idk if she's gonna continue the soft rock/folk route (seems likely tbh), i'd rather have running through fields of flowers folk rather than campfire songs and horseback riding folk -

the jingle bells are really reminiscent of the tambourine in mazzy star songs like fade into you or blue flower so I understand it, but idk why it was used in HTD (really random and doesn’t match the more modern production) and not a song like MAC or even VB -
oh ew this is why i hate rich people lol
-
i'm not like super well versed on/care about this type of stuff but wasn't Diana basically hated by the royal family (to the point that people think she was assassinated by them) and wasn't Harry the one that left the family because they were racist?
-
yikes i mean she's always idolized glitz and glam like the kennedy's so this isn't too surprising. not the best look though after everything that's been exposed recently it's a rich person supporting a rich family, not really surprising at this point

I did a sign language interpretation to this song for my class and it was literally so beautiful through ASL. There is so much vivid imagery in the song so it's pretty easy to present through ASL storytelling.

So COCC's been released for quite a while now and yeah, I think this is the first Lana album that I haven't obsessively listened to after its release other than WD, DTWD, TJF personally no a big fan of this contemporary folk/country direction (which btw, I would barely consider NFR folk outside Bartender and maybe MAC). I think partly this is because I was expecting something alt-country like Mazzy Star or even Cowboy Junkies. I certainly don't think this is completely Jack's fault though, I think a lot of these production/genre choices are Lana's as well. Judging from her concerts in Texas and touring around with Nikki Lane I think her sound is just gonna delve more into country which I'm not too excited about but it's what I'm expecting at this point for RCS -
i still think west coast is a top UV song, just inferior to mainly SoC and Cruel World SoC is an amazing trip idk
