  1. Had recently finished City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert and I can’t sing it’s praises enough. So enjoyable to me! One of my favorite more recently read books.

Currently reading Circe By Madeline Miller, yet another win for me! It’s rare for me to get two great books back to back but it’s shaping up that way.

I’d suggest you check them out if you haven’t. City of Girls for 40’s/50’s period drama set in NYC dealing w/ theater, showgirls, WWII, and really great characters.  Circe for those of you who are into Greek mythology and yet again really good character development.

  2. Very excited for this, even with LMLYLAW! I think it really signals the official COCC rollout beginning, hopefully!

That said I really hope someone records it lol. My cable provider just removed our local ABC channel cause they couldn’t come to a contract agreement so I’ll be screwed as far as watching when airing!

Fingers crossed those live links stay live but if they don’t we need back up plans lol.

  3. I def am wanting more jazz tunes. I’m really thinking it will be older songs as in sixties and before. It’s just a vibe I get. I don’t see any modern covers being done honestly. I really found it kind of interesting how she referred to it as a classical album in one of her recent posts. I believe it was one of the posts about her dad so that really makes me think we are going older and more “classic” than a more open ended interpretation variety.

Edit. Nvm. Apparently her dad has a classical record he’s working on.

Either way I’m here for the old songs. Please bring them on!

I want this album to be as big as possible. Squeeze them all in!

  4. So many options and opportunities. Patsy is confirmed, excited for that.  I think we can bet on Joni and Joan covers as well. I really would love a Julie London track from Julie Is Her Name, either I’m In The Mood For Love or I’m Glad There Is You. Also would love a Roy Orbison track maybe Only The Lonely, Blue Angel, or Crying. That would be awesome! I can see us getting a Ricky Nelson cover maybe since she shared Garden Party. I’d much prefer something like Lonesome Town though.  I’d also love some more Bobby Vinton. Please Love Me Forever would be a dream. We may also end up getting Heartbreak Hotel with this project. We will see I guess!

To add more to my wishlist lol Connie Francis, Brenda Lee, and Dusty Springfield all would be dreams too.

I honestly could keep going so I’ll stop here, for now.

honestly a classical covers album is something I’ve always wanted from Lana, but didn’t really see happening until decades into her career... so please feed me queen, thank you!! :legend:

Moon River and Girl/Boy From Ipanema are musts, yes!!!!!

listening to Clown in a Cornfield audio book. plays out like a teen slasher with a pretty wild twist!! very fun and perfect for Halloween season:hooker:

I read that! Was really enjoyable lol. Def good spooky season read.

Also recently read Final Girls by Riley Sager. It’s kind of slasher/psychological thriller. Worth a check out.

Another spooky read I’d recommend if you’re into more classical/gothic literature is Mexican Gothic. Omgggggg so good. I’d consider it one of my top reads of the year. Mysterious, dark, sexy. Loved it.

Currently reading/finishing The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.

Well, if this is on the album then I guess it's not so unlikely that either Hey Blue Baby or I Must Be Stupid For Being So Happy (or both) make an appearance on it as well :smile4:

I hope this and a collab w/ Zella are the only on COCC (or even just this, keep collabs out of your album Lana)

Picking we know it needs to be Hey Blue Baby!:agree:

I agree about the collabs. Please limit. I’ll accept Weyes and Zella. Idk why but I get the vibe if there is one with them it will be them all in one track lol. Not two separate tracks.

  8. Late to the party but I absolutely fucking love the Interview video.

The aesthetic, the vibe, the blurred lines. I’m really hoping this is to serve as an introduction into COTC and what that record is to personify.

I can def see her using this as an opportunity to go full out and fuck with the critics. We love to see it! I can’t help but feel there will still be some who take it fully seriously lol.

Although I feel like she is portraying a caricature of herself seen through the lens of fame I can def feel that there are many truths in here as well. They may be magnified or exaggerated for the sake of art but they are there, nonetheless. Very very interesting concept. Love her!

This really hypes me up for the album. Very excited to hear the sound, story, and vibe of what she has to say now. This is the perfect over exaggerated “persona” for what I envision when thinking of the title of the album.

Anyways it needs to come out soon, like yesterday. I love the bread crumbs and the fact that it isn’t snippet polooza but now it’s time to start dropping the actual detailed information! Also hate that we lost with Byron but we knew that was a possibility lol.

Hoping for some announcement or info next week. Not expecting anything the remainder of this week lol!

  9. I’ve been an advocate of the September date but even my reservations are creeping in! Maybe she’s trying “her version” of a surprise release. Meaning go off the handle and throw out a date and then don’t say anything until a week before release lol!

    “That’ll keep them guessing.”

I’m still saying September, at least by the end of September!

  10. I must be confusing it with something I saw on a fan account - but I could swear that Lana posted a video a couple days ago that had an airplane leaving chemtrails behind it, it had a purply tint to the video, and a song clip playing, and it had the album title and release date in kind of a cheesy font with a drop-shadow. I feel like it was on Twitter maybe. But now I can't find it anywhere. Did anyone else see this?

It was from Twitter It was posted several pages back. As far as I know people said that is a well known troll account so it’s considered fake at this point. It did have a nice little aesthetic to it though.

  11. Has Nicole specifically liked a comment about the "album cover", because "cover" could also be interpreted as an editorial, we know Lana also does some form of magazine promo when it comes to album roll outs - also is she still doing stuff with Gucci, could this mysterious shoot be related?

This is what I was thinking too! Cover has multiple meanings. Not just album related.

  12. Yes it totally makes sense. Based on her writing in general, she's drawn to flawed characters. There is great beauty in offering herself to a broken man when she knows that it could be a sacrifice for her and that she might get hurt by him. She's also definitely aware of a broken man's softness and that might be what she's ultimately longing for.

This is a really great interpretation/observation. I couldn’t have said it better myself! Makes me really excited for the record and the narrative that it follows and tells.

Like people are complex and that’s one of the things that she really captures. It just makes it all very relatable!

Especially those of us who have been through shit and may have residual issues lol.

  13. Aaaagh it's so good. Lyrically it's seems like a darker version of Mariners Apartment Complex. Can't waitt

You lose your way, just take my hand

You're lost at sea, then I'll command your boat to me again

Don't look too far, right where you are, that's where I am

Agreed. I really find like the strength and “fragility” interesting. I quoted fragility for obvious reasons lol. But it’s like she’s strong and can be there for this man yet fragile in the respect that she wants him so badly that she pleads for him to choose her but then says “look, whatever you bring I can handle.”

It’s just interesting because she is strong because she is like I can support you. Yet fragile and weaker because she craves or needs a man who she knows is no good for her. At least by typical hyper feminism standards.

Idk my thoughts are scattered. Sorry if it makes no sense lol. It does in my mind.

It’s just cool for there to be so much to unpack from the short preview.

  14. i hear "i'm no candle in the wind" or "no more candle in the wind" (which seems like it would make more sense w the vibe of the song? but who knows)

I def hear no candle in the wind too. It’s like she’s saying she’s strong enough. She can take it! Him coming back and whatever that brings she can handle it. In relation to the lyrics about the mans alcoholism it seems like she is saying she’s strong enough to handle any fallout from them being together. At least that’s kind of how I interpret it. Honestly the snippet and the lyrical content is very intriguing. Really can’t wait to hear whole song.
