I just listened half of Freak and it's awesome, I love the beats and the vocals, I don't wanna listen to the LQ recordings because I want my first listen to be in full Mastered 4 iTunes 256kbps quality The booklet is very pretty! My favorite so far, loving the color scheme, the one as my avatar is absolutely stunning.

Just a thought after listening the LQ recordings once: If this album flops it's because of their poor single choices.

I don't feel bad about downloading leaks, even if people hack into their systems, because I pre-ordered the album, they already have my money anyway

It's not technically a leak though... It's promo and originated by Lana apparently. I'm very grateful some people recorded it because the UO in Europe didn't did it. And you're definitely not the only one, but I certainly didn't waited, especially since the quality of some of these recordings is really decent

Am I the only one who really LOVES Freak (and thinks that it should be her next single)?

the medium quality files give a much better idea of the production on the album, did the person who got them stand next to the speaker? lol yesssss...
 
freak is good, but i wish it would build a little bigger, maybe in hq it will grab me more.
 
art deco is incredible, that chorus is so sexy, its a hotter song than freak imo, that slow pulsing beat is everything. its really making me consider becoming a hooker.
 
god knows i tried kinda reminds me a sultrier terrence loves you. her vocals are great.
 
salvatore is definitely the most interesting produced track on there, cant wait to really hear those instruments in hq to really get the full italian influence. for me the slow beat really gives it some life, and that bridge, and the soft ice cream lol......so random but it really suits the lyrics of the song. definitely reminds me of seeing my whole family get shot to death on my wedding day because of revenge in slow motion. x
 
religion is cute, nice drum beat, its a bit ultraviolence-ish to me. its filler, but good filler.
 
the blackest day is such a gorgeous song, her vocals in that chorus omg, first high and angelic and then shes goes into that "deep deeper" part and its like my penis inverts into a clitoris and then inverts a second time into a giant beautiful rare flower that releases music.
 
24 is sooooooooooooo her bond theme that didnt get picked, it sounds very bondesque and the rumor that its called 24 bcz of the 24th bond theme could very much be true. its filler, but good filler.
 
swan songs production is so angelic and atmospheric i love it, those opening synthy notes omg yesssss. this wouldnt sound too out of place after american on paradise imo. i really love it, cant wait for it in hq. i think it compliments the title track as the closer nicely, honeymoon and swan song feel like opposite sides of each other in a way. honey moon is brooding and sinister and slowly opens the album, swan song is a lighter and more pure and beautiful slow song to say goodbye. and yes this song is the true finish to the album not the nina cover.
 
dont let me be misunderstood is ok, but nothing special. whats that instrument during the chorus, the electric piano is it??? very 70's, reminds me of the doors, i like that touch. otherwise this is on par with the other woman, cute, but nothing special and probably skippable if im not in the mood. i would probably rather have life is beautiful in its place, but oh well.
 
 
 
 
too early to say, but it could end up being her best album, i'll need to hear it in hq and obvs sit with it for a few months and let it get old before i say its her best, but i wont be surprised if i end loving it the most. and even though i can understand why some people may have mixed emotions on her music, im going to struggle hearing very negative reviews about this record because i really do think its beautifully produced and much more accessible than ultraviolence [which i love btw], i hope it gets a decent critical reception, it really does deserve it, no one else is doing the stuff she does, she always feels like a real artist to me and she deserves a little more appreciation. the critics were kinder to ultra than btd, i hope honeymoon sees that same reception, its so good.

I feel like TBD is Cruel World's harder, better, stronger sister this song changes the game on a deep level

Art Deco is so underrated I feel. It's O M G. The vibe is so cool, the fucking beat is JUST SICK. The bridge is EVERYTHANG.
 
And when her voice goes silent and just the beat at the end is just wooooo. It sounds like those EPIC fantasy movie music. You know those dystopian apocalyptic SHHHHIT

btw do you guys think we should have a post honeymoon release thread now, when the album is actually released, or when the album leaks in hq? bcos at 679 pages there's no way we can have both in one thread.

This album is better than both UV and BTD and honestly anything she has released. It's a lot more varied than her previous efforts. It borrowed different influences of sound from all over the world like you're on a honeymoon all around the world lmao.
 
She sounds INCREDIBLE. Her voice has never been better. I'm saying all of this from a low shitty quality I heard ONCE (well, I did play Art Deco a million times but that's the only one). I'm desperately controlling myself not to listen to anything else until we got HQ. And honestly, I need only need one listening to decide that this is fucking good.
 
If she doesn't properly promote this, I will be very disappointed. Everyone needs to hear this fucking album. It's also bizzare to me how the weakest tracks (they are still cute just weak compared to the rest) are released. Who is the picking the singles?? Lord. We got the best songs from UV and BTD as singles first. This is truly a reverse Lana experience.

I'll probably buy the cd just to have it and ask someone to send me the itunes files lol. I'm not buying the same thing more than once, and Lana said it's not about the money so

Religion sounds so fucking heavenly, even in the low quality. I can't imagine the real perfection i will hear when the album is officially released

I'm still confused as to why Honeymoon, High By The Beach, and Terrance Loves You were chosen as promo singles

Honeymoon - Boring. I personally just didnt connect with it. Maybe if the ochestra was stronger I would feel more about it. The bridge was an absolute beauty though. It was so fuckin magical. Music to Watch Boys to - I personally love it. I dont know why people say the chorus doesn't match. I think it's the best part of the song. Terrence Loves You - I do not like this song. But Lana has a way with bridges/breakdowns. Its sooo great. God Knows I Tried - Not a fav but I still like it. Sounds like a Western (not country sounding) but like a literally western movie/romance book. Like a standoff or when the outlaw thinks back on his life. (maybe I read too many Historical Fiction Romance novels.) High By The Beach - The beat was basic, but I loved the song. It was made for the radio and dancing. Freak - I overplayed the snippet lol. It's an real excellent song. Makes you want to sexy dance to it.  Art Deco - This is definitely about Azealia Banks now that someone mentioned it. It reminds me of Carmen in the sense of the storyline. Burnt Norton - Nice poem or whatever it is. I always skip interludes that arent singing. Religion - I really enjoy this song, idk what it is with songs that compare religion to love. (I'm a christian but still, guilty pleasure we'll call it) Salvatore - MY FAV. ITS SOO CUTE AND ROMANTIC AND LOVEY DOVEY AND I JUST WANT TO EAT PASTA WHILE SITTING ON A HOT GUYS LAP DRIVING DOWN THE STREETS OF NEW YORK IN A FAST ASS CAR UNDER A BLUE SKY WITH WHITE FLUFFY CLOUDS! (Idk why but some parts seem like she's talking about Fran and then some times it seems like she's talking about a black rapper. Kinda like a its Asap rocky or whoever she was talking bout with golden grills. Cus the rappin and beatboxin line. That's just me. The Blackest Day - I really like this song. Specially the chorus. She listening to that Billie Holiday. 24 - Its very slow. Sounds kinda westerney too. Swan Song - I love it. I love her idea of her and her lover just doing what makes them happy. To leave life. She'll support him. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood- This song should have never been done in my opinion. I felt like Lana didnt try hard enough when she was covering it. It's a hard song to live up to I know, but she didnt have any vocal range. (I know this has been Lana since UV, but she still should have had a variation.) I'll do another review once I have a high quality like cd rip quality music.

Here are my opinions on the songs after listening to the "new" recordings once… 
 
Honeymoon - Don't get the hate for it tbh, it's such a beautiful song and takes me somewhere else! Music to Watch Boys to - Probably one of my favorite tracks from the whole record. LOVE the lyrics and the exotic vibe it has! Terrence Loves You - As others have said, it is a very emotional track and it's beautiful, but one of the weaker moments on the record in my opinion. God Knows I Tried - Sounds like it'll be one of my least favourite moments of the record as well. The lyrics are rather repetitive. Hopefully in HQ it'll slay me though. High By The Beach - Love the vibe of this song. The beat is a bit amateurish but a nice song overall. My favourite part is the bridge, with that AKA throwback  Freak - I knew this song would slay in full. LOVE IT! That beat makes me wanna take my body downtown, if you know what I mean  Art Deco - For some reason, this song reminds me of JFK but with stronger beats, which I guess makes sense considering they're both produced by Nowels. Love the feel of this one! Burnt Norton - Love how old-fashioned it feels. Beautiful  Religion - Don't have much to say about this one yet, as I've only heard all the recordings once and I can hear people taking off hangers and chatting more than the actual song  Salvatore - Definitely the standout track to me! LOVE LOVE LOVE the Italian vibe it has.       Too bad it was probably inspired by Franny  The Blackest Day - Sounds like Blue Jeans 2.0 to me, both about the impact of losing a lover, both have very prominent guitar sounds in the instrumental. Love it so far! 24 - Not feeling this one much just yet, but I'm sure it'll be great once I hear it in HQ. Still don't like the lyrics at all though. Swan Song - A nice song, but unfortunately suffers from RCS (Repetitive Chorus Syndrome) Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Don't understand why everyone hates this one, it's a great closer and I LOVE the simplistic, jazzy feel it has. Overall I am IN LOVE with the sound of all these songs and I cannot wait to hear it properly in HQ. I deleted all the LQ recordings (well, except Salvatore because it's just too perf omg ) because I don't want to grow accustomed to the shitty versions and then have the HQ come out and be disappointed/tired of the songs immediately because I've replayed the snippets a billion times already lol.
 
I feel like Lana has successfully managed to merge the styles and sounds of each of her previous eras, and I get flashbacks to past songs in almost every new song, which I love. She's created something new, but still has her signature sound.
 
Kinda think it's funny that all our "dark blue" jokes came true. She literally says blue in like 80% of the songs lmao!  

TV In Black & White is the greatest song of all time. It makes me so happy 

They tragically picked the wrong singles. Oh my god her team really sucks.
 
I want to go back in time when Lana releases The Blackest Day as lead with a high budget cinematic video And Art Deco second single with a sexy club video.

Freak, MTWBT, HBTB, Art Deco, Blackest Day, Swan Song, and Religion are my picks.  Not into the slower stuff.  It feels like some of this stuff might have been the results of writing for films between HM and UV.  It'll be interesting to see how the reception will be to it.
