  1. Somebody has a huge crush on her! Oh my God this man should just put a ring on it already. Seriously though, I have seen his movies and he as an artist cannot hold a candle to her but I suppose I will read this because I am always curious about the mind of a creative genius like Lana. He does seem to get it but cannot even copy it so I do not know. She took 6 chords on a guitar and created a raw and brilliant career...a genius and the more you know the better.
  2. She always looks great. I mean "even" the way she looks now if she kissed me I would just faint.
  3. I thought I would link to this really cool video about her amazing range.
  4. Here is the quote from Nabokov. http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/32046-lolita-light-of-my-life-fire-of-my-loins-my
  5. I do not feel as though most of her songs are simplistic. At the same time that she focuses on love and lost she has a way of invoking Nabakov, Hemingway (the sun also rises in Money Power Glory), and other literary allusions which lead to a much more complex theme than just the surface concept of a damsel in distress. One of my personal favorites 'Body Electric' is clearly a reference to an insecure woman who has an internal struggle between an extroverted vs introverted lifestyle. For instance, she discusses partying and dancing while invoking the rosary prayer with a subtle reply in which her party lifestyle is validated with the line 'She Said Don't Worry About It." This is a great example of a poem about a life in conflict between ones religious teachings and desire to be with oneself (all I need are my heros) and the desire to be with the crowd. This is just one example of Lana's more philosophical and deep songs that can go way above most people's heads including the hipsters on Youtube who claim to know things when they don't.
  6. 1: When did you first discover Lana Del Rey? I first discovered her when I was listening to her music on Youtube after seeing "Young and Beautiful" listed as one of the best songs of 2013. I am very late to this music which is very sad! 2: What was the first song that made you fall in love with her music? I listened to the cover of "Heart Shaped Box" which made me think that she was the heir to Kurt Cobain and Joni Mitchell. Her music is deep and elicits such a great feeling and provokes thoughts that no one in my generation can. 3: Favorite Lana hairstyle Her hairstyle. I usually have a thing for redheads but her hairstyle during the ‘Tropico’ premiere was so attractive. 4: Favorite live performance There are so many but this one was the first to objectively prove to my friends that she can sing. 5: Favorite lyric "heaven is a place on earth with you" 6: Would you make out with Lana if you had the chance to? Straight guy here and absolutely she is stunning. 7: Favorite facial feature Eyes and if you asked body I would say legs. Dear God those legs!! 8: What's one thing you don't like about Lana? I wish she would open up more and promote herself more. 9: Have you ever met Lana? Having a conversation with her over a smoke (I will ECig it) about stuff is on my bucket list. As of now no but both her and I have a long life ahead of us and I have so many things to talk about it! It would be really cool. 10: Who's you favorite artist after Lana? Nirvana is a distant second. The Doors, Zepellin, Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin. Music is a big part of my life as my aunt is an opera singer and my sister is an aspiring musician/music producer. 11: Would you say you're obsessed or just a really big fan? Yes but I am obsessed with all of my interests as passion is the reason for living in the first place. 12: What if Lana was secretly an evil zombie would you still love her? Ha Ha. Perhaps so long as she only eats homophobes, racists, and vegans (kidding).
  7. As an addendum to what I said earlier I was not so aware of the issues between the two as I am not a gossip kind of guy but it was based on their duet in "Summer Wine" and given the information that others posted afterward I retract the Barrie comment above. I just want her and everyone to be happy because life is so short and should be spent in happiness. I do not retract that whole dating me thing because a guy can dream right? lol. I wish her nothing the best and hope she finds a great equal as she mentioned in a few interviews. Funny, that is what I look for in a women when I date so good luck to her.
  8. You should see the live version from Carcassone if you have not it is epic. Trust me you will thank me.
  9. This is always interesting because I listen to at least one song per day but what I am listening to right now is "Us Against the World." Frankly, at lot of her unreleased songs are incredible and she could create a whole album with her bast call it Lana Del Rey "The Lizzy Grant Collection" and make a fortune especially with songs like "Trash." The live version of that is absolutely incredible.
  10. As far as I am concerned I would like it to me lol. Seriously, I like that Barrie O'Neil because I think they make sense given their mutual love for music. Nonetheless, it is up to her and I hope she is as happy as possible. As far as her continuing to sing about alcohol I think it is important to note that although not healthy there are addicts that have to fight off their urges every single day for decades so it makes sense that she still has those demons. I now of people who quit smoking and not a day goes by that they don't think about having a smoke. This is the sad truth about addiction that it can rarely be beaten completely and I personally applaud her for staying sober for so long despite all those people who say so many terrible things such as she is manufactured, she can't sing, she is fake, etc.
  11. I think these two articles may bring to light some of the issues with her. Age: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/18-things-you-learn-after-two-long-days-with-lana-del-rey-20140724 Authenticity: http://www.spin.com/2012/01/deconstructing-lana-del-rey/2/ Alcoholism: I for one think that the attacks that she received was uncalled for! You would think that if she was not an alcoholic then someone somewhere would have pointed out by now that she was seen drinking somewhere. Those photos could easily of been of water and soda. I know I have drank water out of wine glasses and drank cocca cola out of scotch glasses when out with my family. Additionally, there has never been a single person from her past to contradict this fact. I can post more if you like.
  12. I have to agree that Lucky Ones is such a gorgeous song. It has to be one of the most romantic songs she has sung. "Is This Happiness" is also one of my favorites that has never been sung live and should. I feel she will sing more UV songs on her next tour. I mean she never sang "Serial Killer"
  13. Hey All, My sister and I were talking about what song Lana has never sung live and it had me wondering which song people would most like to hear live. My sister's favorite song not sung live is "This Is What Makes Us Girls" and my favorite would have to be "Black Beauty." What are yours? Best, Carl
  14. I know this may sound kind of odd but how about Dark Angel?
  15. I think both of these terms can be cute. I realize the need for new innovative nickname so I suppose this topic morph into new nicknames for her but at this point I got nothing.
