Yeah, I get that but I feel like they made the wrong choice.

Lana would have been the controversial queen of 2014 and the streaming would have been HUGE for ha.

I mean the cover promoting smoking (original cover) [badass and controversial]
    - West Coast (heavy drug use)
    - Shades of Cool (death scene in video right after controversial guardian interview)
    - UV (Jonestown omg)

Honestly speaking, it was controversy (well on top of good music) what made Born To Die so huge and iconic. First the accusation of authenticity (Lips, Surgery, blah), Snl, etc.

The UV era would have been truly "Ultraviolent", but it was intentionally tamed down.

As pop as possible. Catchy choruses, well-written bridges and properly pronounced verses. She should also work with Emile again.

This whole "I want to be appreciated as a writer and an artist" thing ain't working for her, see Grammys or this years End year's lists. Commercial Lana slays anyway and why we all fell in love with her.

She should get rid of Rick Nowels.

ETA: Oh and yeah, she should stop trying to be jazzy. Dear Lana, singing a bunch of aaaah's and ooooh's, just because you're running out of ideas for proper lyrics in a song, doesn't make you a jazz singer.

In before Lana follows her cowgirl routes à la God Knows I Tried western theme...

Hoping for a tracklist like this...
Off to the Rodeo Music To Watch Cowboys To Ride (Wild West Version) Wild West Coast Million Dollar Cowboy Cowboys & Indians Burnt Desert Sad Cowgirl High By The Horse Range Black Beauty Guns and Cactii Wild West Baby The Other Cowgirl Stable Song

Her BTD era videos were iconic, SOC is probably the only mv that's been as good as the ones from BTD.

Before the Honeymoon sampler I think people were reaching given the lyrics of Ultraviolence but she also posted pictures around that time (if I remember correctly) that were speculated to be linked to some other cultish type thing that was here in America but I don't remember what it was exactly. I think now that the sampler footage is out and thinking of the potential connection between the scenes and UV song I think it is slightly more plausible but I'm prepared for anything with Lana.

As to why she now feels like she can release the video, she isn't coming off the heels of an "I wish I was dead already" article or an album with lyrics like "he hit me and it felt like a kiss" which is why a "controversial" video right now isn't as big of a deal.

That is true but the fact that she did film the UV video around the same time and captions like "Vice running shit" seem to point it was a video for UV or at least a song on the UV album. I'd like to think though that some of these visuals influenced the music that eventually came to be Honeymoon since she didn't use them and this time would probably be about when she was beginning to write Honeymoon.

My thoughts: If this is what the UV video was supposed to be, based on the sampler footage and just what we know so far, I'm glad it got scrapped and used for Honeymoon instead. I don't think visuals match anything within Ultraviolence - the song or the album. Watch the UV trailer, watch the videos from that era (minus UV because we know that was a mess and probably not what Lana really wanted), listen and visualize the imagery in the songs and I just don't think it matches the whole beachside thing she had going. At best it was a cool concept for a video but I think what we've seen so far matches a song like Freak and an album like Honeymoon a whole lot more. Obviously can't say for sure until the full thing comes out. Just my opinion

Personally I would have loved a Salvatore video. Just imagine Lana's pursed lips, deliciously licking a sweet ice cream, driving around Little Italy in a black limousine with a hot Italian man by her side. Meh. At least Freak has a very unique sound and I could imagine her doing a lot with it visually, even though it's not a favourite from Honeymoon. I'm just glad she's inspired again, hopefully this isn't the last we see from Lana for like another year though.

oMG mess, I read it as she was to be in JAIL for 10 years,  not staying away from Lana for 10 years. the 10 album thing was if she was in jail for 10 years, since she tends to release an album a year, there'd probably be around 10 albums out by then.
anyway, nevermind, 84 days in jail is quite reasonable.
just forget i ever said anything

She stopped making great music after Big Eyes. Honeymoon is good, but doesn't compare to her previous music. Feels like she lost her essence early 2015.

Guys nooo, what are you even talking about? This album is great, every single song had an impact on me, the production is perfect, Jesse's voice was great too. They still know how to create amazing emotional atmospheres and vibes. From the first listen I fell in love with the album. One of the best albums of the year.

There are really a lot of issues with this: What would happen if Lana were actually home (thank god she wasn't)? She could have been raped, physically harmed, or even killed. That said, this guy obviously had issues that his friends and family knew about although it may be hard to do so sometimes, whether it's a family member or friend, they should have tried to get him help. There's a lot of shit that happens because people don't try to help or do something about someone having an issue ( having a mental disorder, being angry enough to kill others, suicide, etc.) and in the end you hear it on the news and social media.  idk just my thoughts
