I want to quote and like this a thousand times
Don't get me wrong, I love BtD and Video Games was the song that introduced me to LDR and I was entranced with the album when it was released but now that I've listened back to it so many times (and after the Lana hype/initial hate has blown over) I've realised that it's not really, for lack of a better way to put it, Lana. When VG became massive, BtD was released and it was in a similar vein to VG. I feel like the whole of BtD was based around this idea of a depressed Lana who we heard about in VG and BtD and there are only a few moments on the whole record where we actually see the vision that Lana initially had for it, like the trap-y elements on DMnD.
Like with many record labels, I'd say Interscope/Polydor saw the success VG was having and were like 'holy crap! we need to release VG2 and see if it does as well!' When BtD was a success too, they probably told Lana that we needed 12 VGs and BtDs. With a little protest from Lana, songs like DMnD managed to make it onto the record but it was primarily songs that sounded like VG and BTD.
Ultraviolence, however, really feels Lana. The songs have more variety and I don't know if that was Lana who managed to make the change or maybe Dan Auberbach and that's why I stan over the UV era more than the BTD/P era.
The example I like to use is on the cover arts for both albums: On the cover for BtD, Lana looks stiff as a board an uncomfortable as hell aka the Lana that Lana didn't set out to be. It got her the sales and the recognition she deserved but it wasn't her. The UV cover art shows a more relaxed, animated and comfortable Lana aka the Lana that Lana is pleased to be. The UV Lana isn't as successful but it's the Lana that Lana wanted to be. The Honeymoon cover art shows Lana on a tour bus and I interpret that as Lana riding on the critical success UV Lana got and taking those ideas even more into the Lana that Lana truly wants. She's happy and pleased to be this Lana more than the BtD Lana or the UV Lana. Of course, Lana says that HM is more in the vein of BtD than UV so I might be completely wrong here.
I'm not hating on BtD in any way and I completely appreciate people stanning over it more than any other Lana eras but, like @ said, I feel like the stans really want the BtD era back and I don't think it'll ever fully come back. Maybe fragments will, but I feel like that's the most manufactured Lana we've ever seen and I don't think Lana was fully comfortable with being that Lana.

Hmm... No particular order, just what comes to mind
Honeymoon - Lana Del Rey
FROOT - Marina & The Diamonds
Glorious - Foxes
EMOTION - Carly Rae Jepsen
BEYONCE - Beyonce
LP1 - FKA twigs (M3LL155X preferably but it's not an album so...)
The Golden Echo - Kimbra (better than Vows imho)
Trouble - Natalia Kills
Aquarius - Tinashe
Blood - Lianne La Havas
HM: 21 & 25 - Adele; UV - Lana; Matangi - M.I.A.; Trouble in Paradise - La Roux (technically a solo project); Halcyon (Days) - Ellie Goulding; In Your Hands - Eliza Doolittle; Goddess - BANKS; RED - Taylor Swift; BADLANDS - Halsey dw jk. it's good but not HM good
Can you tell I'm struggling with just 10?

This might be a bit of an odd one but...
Art Deco - in her NME interview, Lana said it was about teenagers going out or something and then the lyrics make it sound like someone is reassuring themselves that their lifestyle's okay
Carmen - then they let that lifestyle go too far and, whilst everyone sees an amazing, happy person, the person is unhappy and 'dying (i'm dyyyyiiiing)'
Ride - and they're tired of feeling like they're fucking crazy so they just ride, let it go and find daddies. they feel free of this lifestyle they were actually always unhappy in

It's actually sad that some people have it in for an artist so much for absolutely no reason that they'd resort to dismissing their support for a rape victim - when LG has been raped herself - as promo for... what exactly?
