Elle 121,311 Posted February 9, 2020 I thought it would be fun to share how everyone ranked the tracks from LDRs albums from when you first heard them compared to how you do now! I was thinking about it yesterday and thought it was really interesting how my taste has changed over the years, and how some of the songs I used to dislike I now love and vice versa. Feel free to share your rankings from as many LDR albums as you wish! First, here's my overall current album ranking to see how this may play into my track rankings: UV > AKA > LFL > NFR > S > BTD > HM > P Born to Die There’s some shuffling around here, but it feels like they’ve switched up even more than they have… I feel like the main reason for this though is that I don’t have the desire to intentionally listen to the majority of these songs anymore. If they come on shuffle, sure I’ll jam out, but I rarely purposefully search for these songs to play with the exception of the top 5. Back in the day, this album was all I listened to! It’s all I wanted to hear. BTDPE is still my most played album of all time across all artists, so I probably overplayed some of the tracks. I still have so much love for the album and its tracks, it’s just not as new & shiny to me as it was 8 years ago lol Now: 1. Million Dollar Man 2. Lolita 3. Off to the Races 4. Diet Mountain Dew 5. Born to Die 6. Blue Jeans 7. Carmen 8. Video Games 9. Radio 10. This is What Makes Us Girls 11. Dark Paradise 12. Without You 13. National Anthem 14. Summertime Sadness 15. Lucky Ones Then: 1. Off to the Races 2. Diet Mountain Dew 3. Million Dollar Man 4. Born to Die 5. Lolita 6. Video Games 7. Dark Paradise 8. This is What Makes Us Girls 9. Blue Jeans 10. National Anthem 11. Summertime Sadness 12. Without You 13. Lucky Ones 14. Carmen 15. Radio Paradise This is probably the most dramatic difference of them all. It’s a whole 180. My initial least favourite track ended up being my favourite! (That sort of happened on purpose too – I really wanted to like the song, so I made it a mission to listen to it more and try to appreciate it, and I ended up just falling absolutely in love with it when I used to just always skip it. I think watching live performances of it helped a lot too. Now it’s my 5th favourite released song across her whole discography.) Now: 1. Body Electric 2. Gods & Monsters 3. Cola 4. Bel Air 5. Yayo 6. Burning Desire 7. Ride 8. Blue Velvet 9. American Then: 1. Yayo 2. Ride 3. Cola 4. Blue Velvet 5. Burning Desire 6. American 7. Gods & Monsters 8. Bel Air 9. Body Electric Ultraviolence There are definitely some changes, but I feel like for my overall track appreciation it’s the opposite of what I described for Born to Die – a lot of these songs were such growers for me. It took me a few listens to really appreciate some of these songs, and Ultraviolence ended up becoming my favourite Lana album. I rarely skip any of these tracks now, except for maybe the last 2. Now: 1. Sad Girl 2. Pretty When You Cry 3. Cruel World 4. Brooklyn Baby 5. Is This Happiness 6. Shades of Cool 7. West Coast 8. Fucked My Way Up to the Top 9. Old Money 10. Black Beauty 11. Money Power Glory 12. Florida Kilos 13. Guns and Roses 14. The Other Woman 15. Flipside 16. Ultraviolence Then: 1. Old Money 2. Sad Girl 3. Black Beauty 4. Pretty When You Cry 5. West Coast 6. Is This Happiness 7. Brooklyn Baby 8. Shades of Cool 9. Fucked My Way Up to the Top 10. Flipside 11. Guns and Roses 12. The Other Woman 13. Money Power Glory 14. Cruel World 15. Ultraviolence 16. Florida Kilos Honeymoon This is probably the least drastic difference. Only a couple jumps here, but it pretty much stays the same for the most part with some minor order switches. I feel like the reason for this is because of all her albums, this is the one I’ve listened to the least over the years (even with NFR in the mix), so I mostly feel the same way about the songs in terms of what I prefer over the other now as I did then. Now: 1. God Knows I Tried 2. The Blackest Day 3. Religion 4. 24 5. Honeymoon 6. Freak 7. Terrence Loves You 8. Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood 9. High by the Beach 10. Salvatore 11. Art Deco 12. Music to Watch Boys to 13. Swan Song Then: 1. The Blackest Day 2. Religion 3. God Knows I Tried 4. 24 5. Honeymoon 6. Salvatore 7. High by the Beach 8. Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood 9. Freak 10. Art Deco 11. Terrence Loves You 12. Music to Watch Boys to 13. Swan Song Lust for Life I feel like these tracks switched around quite a bit, except for my top 2 which have always stayed the same. A lot of these were growers. I really love all of these songs so much still – the only ones I ever really tend to skip are the last 3. This album still sounds so new & shiny to me, so I feel like that’s a reason why some of my tracks have bounced around a bit – just constantly having new appreciation for the songs. Now: 1. Cherry 2. Tomorrow Never Came 3. Heroin 4. When the World Was at War We Just Kept Dancing 5. 13 Beaches 6. Change 7. Summer Bummer 8. God Bless America - and All The Beautiful Women in It 9. Groupie Love 10. In My Feelings 11. Get Free 12. White Mustang 13. Coachella - Woodstock in my Mind 14. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems 15. Lust for Life 16. Love Then: 1. Cherry 2. Tomorrow Never Came 3. In My Feelings 4. Groupie Love 5. When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing 6. Change 7. White Mustang 8. 13 Beaches 9. Coachella - Woodstock in my Mind 10. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems 11. Summer Bummer 12. Love 13. God Bless America - and All the Beautiful Women in It 14. Get Free 15. Heroin 16. Lust for Life Norman Fucking Rockwell This is another one where the differences aren’t too drastic as the album hasn’t been out for very long, but there’s still some switches here and there. I’ll be interested to see what changes after a few years. Now: 1. Cinnamon Girl 2. The Greatest 3. California 4. Hope (iadtfawlmthbihi) 5. Norman Fucking Rockwell 6. Happiness is a Butterfly 7. Venice Bitch 8. Bartender 9. Doin’ Time 10. Mariners Apartment Complex 11. Fuck it I Love You 12. How to Disappear 13. The Next Best American Record 14. Love Song Then: 1. Cinnamon Girl 2. The Greatest 3. California 4. Norman Fucking Rockwell 5. Happiness is a Butterfly 6. Hope (iadtfawlmthbihi) 7. Venice Bitch 8. Doin' Time 9. Fuck it I Love You 10. Mariners Apartment Complex 11. Love Song 12. Bartender 13. The Next Best American Record 15. How to Disappear AKA Lizzy Grant This one has some pretty big differences. I see the album in such a different way than I did back when I first was listening to it in 2012. Maybe I tired out some songs which is why the difference is so great, but I think it’s just mostly because my taste has changed. I used to love the more upbeat songs from this album, but now I really love the moody & dark ones, with my top 2 having stayed the same over the years. I still love the entirety of this album so much and always have. AKA is my second favourite Lana album that comes pretty neck & neck with Ultraviolence. Now: 1. Yayo 2. For K Part 2 3. Oh Say Can You See 4. Smarty 5. Jump 6. Gramma 7. Kill Kill 8. Mermaid Motel 9. Put Me in a Movie 10. Raise Me Up 11. Queen of the Gas Station 12. Pawn Shop Blues 13. Brite Lites Then: 1. Yayo 2. For K Part 2 3. Smarty 4. Queen of the Gas Station 5. Raise Me Up 6. Brite Lites 7. Pawn Shop Blues 8. Oh Say Can You See 9. Jump 10. Put Me in a Movie 11. Gramma 12. Mermaid Motel 13. Kill Kill Sirens This is another one with good differences, yet this is only the 2nd album where my least favourite track has stayed the same over the years. It never did stick with me as much as the others. It’s only as of the past 2 years that I’ve been gaining more appreciation for it. Sirens took me awhile to get into at the start, but I adore this album so much. It truly has some of her best songwriting of her discography and the messages are so deep and meaningful. When I was first listening to this album at the start of 2013, it took me some time to figure out which songs I preferred over the others as they all have that similar acoustic sound, but I’m so certain about my current rank. Once I became more interested in songwriting in 2014, I grew such a great appreciation that I still have for this album and its tracks. I’d love to see her rework some of these tracks one day with her current LDR style. Now: 1. Pretty Baby 2. Out With a Bang 3. Bad Disease 4. Junky Pride 5. Drive By (For K) 6. Dear Elliot (Westbound) 7. Try Tonight 8. Peace (All You Need) 9. How Do You Know Me So Well (I’m Indebted to You) 10. Move (Find My Own Way) 11. Next to Me (River Road) 12. My Momma 13. Aviation 14. Birds of a Feather 15. A Star for Nick Then: 1. Out With a Bang 2. How Do You Know Me So Well (I’m Indebted to You) 3. Pretty Baby 4. Junky Pride 5. Birds of a Feather 6. Bad Disease 7. Move (Find My Own Way) 8. Peace (All You Need) 9. My Momma 10. Try Tonight 11. Next to Me (River Road) 12. Dear Elliot (Westbound) 13. Aviation 14. Drive By (For K) 15. TrashMagiq 58,574 Posted February 9, 2020 I’m way too indecisive to do full rankings but I remember not even liking Off To The Races when I listened to BTD for the first time, but now it’s in like my top 5 of all her songs. Also In My Feelings was my favorite song off of Lust for Life on first listen. Idk what was going on there.. still like the song tho.

Barry 5,934 Posted February 10, 2020 I don't really have massively different opinions on any album except Honeymoon. All the other albums and the songs I liked the most I liked from the start except Honeymoon. First time hering Honeymoon I never liked it and only played Art Deco , Freak, The Blackest Day and God Knows I Tried from it for months ignoring everything else then over time - I think I actually only got into Honeymoon near when LFL was being released as I went back to it after not liking Lust For Life and Love the singles and thought after not liking Honeymoon much and those two singles that maybe I wouldnt like her music again but then I just got Honeymoon and like almost all the songs Terrence Loves You, Salvatore, Honeymoon, Religion, High By The Beach. Now I like those other songs all more than Art Deco which probably went from my #1 to like #9 favourite. Honeymoon also went from my least favourite of her albums to maybe favourite although I like all her albums the same really and now Lust For Life is the one I like the least.

Elle 121,311 Posted February 11, 2020 I think almost the whole set is on youtube, one of my favs to watch because the audience noise is very minimal and the whole thing is so lovingly shot. You can tell the uploader was really enjoying their self and was quite transfixed with lana. The MDM performance is top tier too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aql51ffEwrE That Radio performance is actually what converted me from being a Radio-h8r to a fan! I used to think the original song was too snarky and sassy, very immature, and the line "how do you like me now?" especially bothered me. Contrary to what @@Ultra Violet said, it was too bold for me. After this performance, it became more light-hearted & tongue-in-cheek for me.. less like she was trying to rub it in someone else's face, and more like she was just trying to celebrate her own successes. Now I actually love that "how do you like me now" line, especially when you actually watch how she delivered it in this performance - smirking, almost like she wants to laugh too. Even she knows the line is silly, but that's just the way she felt. Radio is actually now my designated "happy" song whenever I need a song to accompany my feelings of successes lol. That Jazz Cafe performance is one of my favourites too - I have the audio ripped & in a little album in my iTunes. I love the laid back acoustic approach to this set - and like you said, her Million Dollar Man performance was another standout. Carmen too. & actually, I was right next to the guy who filmed & uploaded these in the queue for her 2017 London show! (which he also has lovely videos of.) I got to know him really well, since we talked for like 12+ hours in that queue. He told me lots about that show, and how it's one of the most magical concerts he's ever been to in his life (& if you check his YouTube page, he's been to a lot.) He also talked about his experience of meeting Lana after the show and how she was super sweet to everyone and spent a lot of time chatting & signing things - he actually got her to sign a fiver for him lol x 1 Quote • 4.18.14 • 5.1.14 • 9.20.14 • 5.28.15 • 6.14.15 • 7.28.16 • 7.24.17 • 10.23.17 • 10.24.17 • 1.25.18 • 2.5.18 • 12.5.18 • 10.3.19 • 10.11.19 • 11.16.19 • SF • ATL • ATL • IND • ATL • CHI • LDN • NYC • NYC • DC • ATL • NYC • PDX • SAN • KS
YUNGATA 14,955 Posted February 11, 2020 @@Elle (having issues quoting today ) I also really like the instrumental arrangements in the Jazz Cafe set, they're quite reminiscent of some of the BtD demos in how they're structured. I think my biggest changes were in relation to songs that are no longer part of my playlist. And a song that I like only the instrumental and that was included later ("Groupie Love"). Some songs have never been on my playlist, from the beginning, such as: "Heroin", "The Other Woman", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Groupie Love" and "Guns and Roses".
