Common Lana misconceptions

yes, it's one of a very few songs from her that needs to be on a piano ONLY

same as "change" - i dont think many people realize the importance of these two songs in Lana's discography. These are the songs not only did prove Lana is the GOAT as an artist, they proved she's a poet as well.

literally the only criticism i can give towards hope is the long ass title and even then it makes sense

That she is an industry plant. The amount of people who believe that Lana being upper middle class in her youth equates to her having the easiest road to fame is immense.

I remember Anthony Fantano saying that there is no way Lana was 'indie' or whatever, because Video Games had a rich instrumental and there's no way she produced that song without money from her dad etc to book studios, producers and an orchestra.... :sadcore3:

well technically she’s not “indie” anymore since she’s signed to a record label, but that never took away her credibility as an artist

Exactly. Like, obviously Lana's family was well off, but she very clearly wanted to make it without using that to get there. She got popular because of her talent and that's that :coffee: Also I don't listen to anything Fantano says about Lana because, at least in stuff from the BTD era, some of the stuff he said about her came off as kind of misogynistic (if I remember correctly he made some comments about her appearance and her as a person as if that impacts the album at all, but totally feel free to correct me if I'm misremembering that). Just in general, people were so harsh on Lana during that time
