“Some asshole leaked it” honestly good for her for never backing down from the breach of privacy that leaking is. I am a big proponent that it commercially doesn’t actually impact artists (and honestly seems to help most), but ethically it’s objectively stealing. I would stay annoyed by it

where did she act surprised?? lol. But it’s totally her fault like she spent the entire love + fear tour playing it live and then was like I’m not gonna release it

honestly her reaction seemed a little strange to me (clip for those who haven’t seen it) but maybe it’s a case of being overwhelmed by all those people in person wanting the song vs people typing in her comments?
 

if I were her I would have said ‘I have something special planned for FROOT’s anniversary’ as she’s alluded to it being on there already. I feel like people are going to assume she’s changed her mind again when it’s not on Spotify in the next few weeks.

well, that face meant being surprised, especially because so many people were there. but ig it's iconic that it's become her most-known unreleased song and generally liked by the fandom and not controversial lyricwise (unlike scab & plaster or jealousy right?).

 

she herself was saying that 'maybe i'll release it' or something like this and then she said 'well you have it on yt anyways' and now she's like 'wait y'all really want it???' again even tho she must've read all the comments already. i just don't understand it

I'm pretty sure the I'm Not Hungry Anymore debacle is label politics and now that she's out of the label the chances are close to 00000,01% of happening. She probably gets torn because she explicitly said she was unhappy with the production (I'm not even sure if we got the fucking final song since the ramblings were that stans got stems and made their own version of it??) but saw the reaction was positive by fans; she performed it on Piano during Love + Fear Tour which also indicates she stripped down the whole thing, but also knows that fans wouldn't like to have a version that isn't the original so....

 

She probably reads so much shit that she probably gets happy to have some leverage with I'm Not Hungry Anymore lmao.

No she owns the masters to all her music, she payed for the mixing and mastering of FROOT out of her own pockets and I’m pretty sure she said back during TFJ that she chose her label because it was the most beneficial to her. 
 

yes the song we have is basically a stem edit AFAIK because that’s what leaked (the stems). I don’t think the final is much different but certainly not identical.

 

IMO she just doesn’t wanna release it and that’s it

Did she ever confirm owing the Master? Because paying for the Mix and Master it doesn't mean she owns the Masters. She also said a lot of shit like "bankrupted label lol" joke and how she wanted Bubblegum Bitch to be a single and they kept saying no, so "beneficial to her" is probably her cute way of saying "they were the ones with $$$ lol" in 2010. She'd probably Re-sign if they were a bed of roses.

 

But in the end, yes, like I said, she explicitly mentioned being unhappy with the song so... too much work for little return.

according to who? you? Ocean Boulevard and NFR are widely regarded as masterpieces by everyone. general public, critics, fans, etc.

 

 

this is also funny considering more than half of the songs on ancient dreams are slow ballads.

i wasn't trying to start a debate on who is better between marina and lana btw... it's not a debate really  

Lol I just saw this reply so apologies, well we all know the critics are always right- it was never a debate about whether Marina was better but it is the truth- an album should be varied and sonically unique which Lana hasn’t accomplished in years but she is talented for sure.

im sorry but i think that’s your issue.. I find ocean boulevard to have plenty of replay value, especially the more “verbose” songs like Fingertips or Kintsugi. Maybe you just didn’t connect with it as much which is okay. 
 

in fact, ocean boulevard contains some of her best melodies ever IMO and the same cannot be said for ADIAML whose melodies are pretty uninspired and stale

she did say and after a few years she explained it wasn't true, she was just masquerading during tfj era, same with saying she will never do pop lmao. basically Derek helped her.

I found it so interesting that she said she doesn't feel like she has reached her peak yet. Music and popularity wise at the poetry book reading. I hope that's true, although I feel like that is going to stay as always being around the time of electra heart and froot
