It reminds me of Blue/Gold off Froot. It's cute. I'll like it and spin it a couple of times, but her voice deserves better material. 

 

I know we've talk shit about this before but I'll never grow fond of MARINA. Marina Diamandis is perfection.

hmm idk how I feel about it, might need to wait until the song and album are out. the "yeah im a butterfly" spoken part sounds very k pop if it was kidz bop.  The singing part sounds pretty, but the song based on the snippet seems pretty basic.

I’ll be honest, I don’t love the snippet of the single. I think the high-pitched vocal part is throwing me off, but her normal operatic vocals in it sound gorg as always. However, you can only tell so much from a short snippet, so I’m still looking forward to the song as well as the album as a whole! I trust that she knows what she’s doing and know that regardless of what the singles look like, that there will be songs on the album that I’ll love as she’s my second favourite artist behind Lana mostly due to her writing and unique creativity. I’ll also say just in general with any artist’s album, I tend to favour the album tracks rather than the singles. I did actually really love all of Ancient Dreams’ singles though, but with Froot & L+F there were only a couple singles from each that I really loved, and then favoured more of the deeper album cuts. Overall, this is my ranking of her albums so I’m interested to see where this new one will fall:

the song is fine. its nothing too exciting but also you cant judge an entire song, or an entire album, or an entire era off a 20 second snippet. butterflys not my fav but marina has so much potential in this genre blend of upbeat electro-pop and ethereal, orchestral moments, that i trust theres gonna be at least a few great songs on m6

also i dont know why people are complaining about the producer and how they worked on portals (a generally negatively reviewed album) and are assuming m6 will be just as bad because. to me i feel like a lot of the issues with portals was mainly in writing & post production. death, tunnel vision, light shower, and so many more songs had amazing production and were let down by the terrible de essing and mastering

honestly I’m not really seeing the point of marinahq at the moment if that account and Marina’s are just going to repost each other all the time. if marina doesn’t want to read the comments on instagram, which I think is fine and it’s good to protect your feelings sometimes tbh, then she should just hand the password over to her management like other artists do. I just feel like the account is going to be abandoned halfway through the era and unterutilised, I think she would have been better off sending the ‘secrets’ (which we haven’t had yet as it’s all been reposted to her stories), to some fan accounts instead idk. though I know some of Marina’s fan accounts get bullied by her own fans, so maybe she was trying to prevent that
 

I want to wait for the full song to pass judgement because I think snippets can really be the best or worst thing about a song. what I will say though is that it is really nice to see her happy and excited in that snippet clip, especially now we know she was suffering with CFS for the last several years. I forget how much an artist’s energy feeds into an enjoyment of a project.
