the BUTTERFLY hate is so ridiculously forced, it's not her best song ever but you dont have to act like it's an utter disaster and bully her just because her music no longer meets your expectation. Besides that, the song is not that bad yall need to chill, its a fun cute, little bop to groove while you're stressed as fuck, like its not that deep but so what? Why does everything have to be deep? Look I haven't read anything in this thread about Butterfly except for an unintentional glance at the post above me just now, but I had already formed my opinion so here it is, popular or not. All I'm hearing is:

Did you know that people change, and so did I (and so do butterflies), and I don't like you anymore, so I flew away (like a butterfly), and I have wings (again, like a butterfly) and oh, they come in lots of pretty colours, here let me list them, you cannot see them though, because as I said, I flew away (like a butterfly)

This isn't a grade 2 science class, we all know what butterflies are, and what they do, can we please get some depth and nuance if we are going to use them as a metaphor (because this ain't it)?

I wanna like her current work, I really do, but she reminds me of a pop star character in a movie in that her stuff is cliche and underdeveloped. At this point she seems to alternate between ultra-woke and this kind of thing. I don't think she quite knows who she wants to be as an artist. Fuck, in another lifetime I'd love to be a ghostwriter and co-write with someone like her because she has so much potential.

If you're gonna write and sing bitchy butterfly bullshit about some guy (or some friend, or whoever the fuck she has in mind) then go all in. I feel like she has an Alanis-Morissette-level angry bitch inside and I want her to come out. Tell us how you REALLY feel, don't hold back, and don't be so vague and generic about it.

Isn’t her family all in the UK? 

My family pisses me off sometimes but idk if I’d want to live in a whole arse other country away from them for so many years

she moved after her breakup with Jack, so I think that was the primary reason as he still lives in london. I do wonder if she'll eventually move back as she doesn't seem particularly happy, someone speculated she might be after a green card as you have to live in america for a certain amount of time before you get one.

I remember in an interview during L+F era in 2019, she said that she does not feel any connection to England anymore, that she's not happy living there or something. Can't exactly remember the right words.

This is so heartbreaking to hear, I truly hope this was just in the moment and not how she's been feeling in general. After everything she's been through, I can't blame her for feeling like this, though. I wonder if the poor quality of the new music is related to her poor mental health, these kinds of depressed and hopeless feelings can really zap your creativity
