I think they didn't mean soulless in a way that it's not like energetic but I think they meant soulless in a way that it's lacks the Marina element, that they think it could've done by any other artist. That's how I interpreted it.

 

Personally, I'm glad she's not recycling her old sound again

reread their comment and youre probably right. but idk, maybe this is marina, just the newer her. shes definitely and evidently not as passionate for music as she was before, but i still genuinely believe she enjoys making it as a form of art and self expression. i dont think shes completely lost her love for music like people think she has

omggg just listened to ‘Cause I’m A Woman for the first time in awhile and why didn’t she release this bop… the production is so FUN! the lyricism is GOOD! it’s giving sex yeah with froot production realness omfg. UGH 

she had this song but released happy loner, free woman, and pink convertible (all miles worse) instead

her upcoming album feels like a redemption era, every track is so fucking good (excluding butterfly) it finally feels like a GOOD marina album

honestly i took ADIAML for granted when it first came out… i love ADIAML so much now when revisiting it. esp the title track PHEW. and the ballads are very cute, too. the clunky lyrics and overly political messages in it don’t bother me whatsoever for some reason anymore. though i do skip man’s world. the bridge between man’s world and the second single was too long my brain believes it’s not cohesive enough if i were to include it in my listens. the title track is just so fun and groovy

That’s been her fandom for years - she gets constant hate for not sounding like her previous records.

 

A lot of people said they disliked froot initially and now it’s her best record ever and she’s never beaten it…

Butterfly / Cupid seem to lean into the quirky and indie pop vibes she had when she started. Not saying everyone has to like them but overall they’re just fun tracks. /shrug

Butterfly song has grown so much in me. Like I sometimes sing the chorus on my own. It's really catchy.

 

To be honest, I really like the production on Butterfly. It sounds bubbly and dreamy. Kind of a softer, dreamier version of 2000s European songs.

 

I think that M6 is going to be her most pop album and catchiest album since Electra Heart
