the way I was called deaf for years on here for saying this :toofloppy:

I wouldn’t call it buried under the instruments though because even they are quite light

yeah it's not buried - maybe the mixing is not clear enough and definitely the EQ is not well executed. sometimes it sounds like she's too close to the mic and they didn't reduce the lower frequencies aka it sounds too muffled. that sort of keeps me from fully enjoy all of the songs.

and what annoys me the most is the stark contrast with songs like The Grants, title track or Let the Light In, where her vocals are loud and clear, sometimes too much it even clips :headache:

Ocean is definitely a weird case to me where it sounds like each song has its own mastering and mixing style- usually her albums are pretty consistent in this regard but nearly every song here has volume and compression differences etc

Yes you’re not the only one. This is my major complaint with the album and most of the music since LFL actually.

The only other Album i have this problem with is cocc. I played bb and nfr between blvd songs and that’s what confirmed my suspicions. If anyone wants to try this I suggest playing love song before sweet. The difference in sound quality is insane (to me)

Also for a time I thought this was Spotifys fault. What platforms do you guys use? Maybe Apple Music is the solution to this. We need to do researchcpdwvnn15xy91.jpgr

Have you looked into the Hispanic Scholarship Fund? There are a few places to look for help mama lets research...

I’ve been using Spotify to listen but I’m going to try Apple Music and see if it’s any better.

i can confirm apple music doesn't really sound better lol... to me only kintsugi, margaret, and fishtail have this problem... which is really weird bc lana's vocals are super clear on nfr and cotcc

Genuine question: does Lana’s voice on most songs on Blvd sound extremely muffled to anyone else? Maybe I’m loosing my mind but something about the sound mixing/ production seems off?!? I’ve been finding it really heard to listen to this album because of this. Sounds like her voice is buried under the instruments to me. Let the light in seems to be the only song that escapes this?!?

Honestly I think her voice in the mix sounds perfect in most songs; very crisp in The Grants or Fingertips, "muffled" done right on A&W and Peppers... the only song where the mixing kinda bothers me is Kintsugi but it gets a pass. It sounds like a WhatsApp audio, which is a shame because the song is spectacular and is sandwiched by two crystal-clear tracks Candy Necklace and Fingertips.

Please let us know when you do <3

My first notice is with the same volume level on my headphones (Bose quiet comfort noise canceling), Spotify is louder than Apple Music. I don’t think I hear a noticeable difference in quality right now. I’ve listened to parts of Kintsugi and Fishtail. I’ll keep listening though.

Honestly this album is the Ultraviolenced-NFR! I've been craving for. Don't get the Blue Banisters comparisons at all.

I looooove Fishtail I just wish her vocals were stronger and less breathier at certain points

I hear Kate Bush in Grandfather

Can you tell me the exact minute? There are several tracks that I can listen to Kate Bush, and it's so beautiful. I just don't remember what the songs are or the exact moment? Just to have the feeling

ya I don’t get the bb comparisons either. The only argument I’ve seen defending this is the fact that she calls out her mother on both albums more explicitly.

Do we know if Lana and Mike Dean ever made more songs together? I forget where it was talked about, maybe in Mike Dean's interview with Fantano. But idk the end of Ocean Blvd is very deliberate in its style and I wonder if it's to lead into a Mike Dean-heavy LDR10

I kind of think Lana doesn’t like Mike Dean their interaction at the award where Lana wore that shein dress was rly awkward
