update- he picked Pam Bondi as the replacement for attorney general. it is pretty shocking he didn't pick Judge Judy though :thumb3:

Judge Judy seemed like a more stable and less corrupt choice than Bondi.

Lmao a 25% tariff on Canada is so funny bc gas prices are about to go up, especially in the Midwest.

Gavin newsom using trumps policies in retaliation against Elon and it is sending me :eartha: trump wants to get rid of the tax incentive for electric vehicles but newsom is bringing back the $7,500 tax incentive for Californians on electric vehicles except for Tesla. I hope this means less people buying not only regular Teslas but those ugly dumpster cyber trucks. The two things about Newsom is 1. He hates trump 2. he’s gonna do everything in his power to be petty and I’m here for it

Does Biden pardoning his son fall into this topic?

I honestly think it was a pretty dumb move, although I get why he did it. The republicans have been going after Hunter Biden for years and with Trump back, you know they’re going to dial it up to 11.

I think it was also an FU to Trump.

On the flip side, this gives Trump the green light to pretty much pardon anyone he wants. Sure, he was probably already going to, but now it essentially erases the precedent and will probably lead to future abuses of power. The pardon is one of the few power moves that a president has that is without limit.

Now Trump can pardon himself too :toofunny:

I think it’s a bad look for Biden’s legacy. It’s pretty much a bad look for the outgoing administration as a whole, since no one apparently advised him against it. Even though he completely ruled it out in previous interviews.

Get ready for more of the “Biden crime family” talking points.

Spoiler

On a side note, I get that Hunter is family, but come on. I know it’s cold and dark of me, but I don’t care if you’re family. Maybe it’s because there’s a lot of drug abuse in my family and I’ve distanced myself from all of that. I’m not even saying that Hunter is a bad person, per se, I just don’t care what happens to him.

In fairness, Trump was already pardoning allies his first term. He was so liberal with pardons that Joe Exotic was begging for one and people were convinced he might get one.

Further erosion of norms, just what we need

It was his son so I can see why he did it, but also he could’ve used this to set an example that no one is above the law.

Mike Johnson and the Republican House can’t even pass a routine government continuance bill without nearly caving in on itself. It’d be funnier if the next two years weren’t going to be absolute hell on earth.
