I would kill for a LFL era 2.0. She didn’t post too much, but it was enough to keep us fed. I’ll never forget her listening to White Mustang and doing her makeup Like she could do that again with Henry.
Then that random snippet of the Cherry demo.
and then Roses Bloom For You? Magical.
and on top of that we were constantly fed a stream of new music. Love (which leaked early little fuckers), Lust For Life, Groupie Love, Summer Bummer, and Coachella.
Like I know a lot of fans dislike LFL, but you could tell she really loved it and I’d take even a 10th of that. One snippet in almost a year, and the brief times she has talked about music she sounds so disinterested. I would have been happy if the album announcement had included the same snippet of Henry she posted in January. Just something to affirm she’s excited about what she’s been creating

I'd prefer any vocal take from the last 4 albums than half the songs on Lust For Life ruined by numerous filters and her way of singing through paper. She sounds dreadful and bored on them, maybe she thought it was "atmospheric" at the time but quickly changed her mind. Definitely one of the reasons why she doesn't want to call Rick for 7 years now.

I agree completely about NFR!.
I think it's partly because Lana doesn't really have a powerhouse voice a la Whitney Houston, Linda Ronstadt, or Aretha Franklin. She's more in the Debbie Harry - Stevie Nicks category (if you've ever seen either in concert, then you know they have very little actual vocal range)—she needs the studio to sound really good in the varied notes—look at Video Games--it has very few high notes and is fairly monotone throughout, which is part of its charm. I sometimes find vocal straining charming, but I don't on Grandfather.
Her various producers probably have to do a lot of studio dickering, and we know from the video she posted on Facebook during the making of Lust for Life how she was experimenting with singing with a piece of paper between herself and the mic (I believe it was on BPBP). Lord knows what other similar hacks she's used to enhance her vocals—I'm assuming singing with the paper between her and the mic was her idea, but who knows? It may have been Rick's.
Though it's not one of my favorite of her songs, to me, vocally, Lana sounds best on Money, Power, Glory, especially in the refrain. That's my own personal standard or how I'd like to hear her vocals. Clear, immediate, crisp.

Crystal clear vocals mean nothing to me if they’re compressed so much they sound like a she’s singing through a tin can. That’s the whole reason I’ve always called it Norman Tin Can. Atleast the (uneven) reverb is noticeable in the rick songs. Too much atmosphere is better than the hot dry crackly excuse for an atmosphere we’ve been getting since Norman.

I mean, vaping and smoking like a chimney certainly doesn't help lmao.
But I anyway, singing amazingly is not all that important in pop music. Just look at Madonna. It's more about the tone, melody, phrasing, and conjuring the right atmosphere, which Lana is a master of.
I don't think she's wowed me with her vocal proficiency per se since that high note on NFR (the song). But I don't care for that kind of stuff anyway (otherwise, I would listen to Mariah Carrey.)
The only issue i have is perhaps that Lana doesn't sound as confident perhaps as she did back on BTD and Paradise. She'd open a song with a razor-sharp line like "My pussy tastes like pepsi cola", and it had so much sass and personality.
Now it's all becoming a lot softer and demure. Which I still love. But I kinda wish she would mix it up a little vocally and lyrically. Especially with her album openers, which are feeling more and more samey (sad ballads).
I guess I miss her confidence and sense of fun on the last few records?
I think the super harsh criticism of her early work has scared the bejeezus out of her and she's playing it more safe, with tones and lyrics she know work well and won't get her dragged through dirt.

She used to remain at a remove in her songwriting as in her album titles, but lately she's seemingly wanted to go the late 60s, early 70s singer-songwriter route, very confessional, very personal, very attached at the hip, and to me, for the most part, it's less interesting, or at least I feel she's done enough of it for my taste, though of course she's free to do whatever she likes.
The reason I liked a great deal of LFL was because it was dramatic and removed, like 13 Beaches or Heroin; even White Mustang keeps a distance from itself.
Songs like Love Song and How to Disappear don't do a thing for me, nor Life is Beautiful—because we can get those kinds of mellow songs from any number of middle-of-the-road artists, female or male, and Sweet Carolina and Let Me Love You Like A Woman falls into that category too.
For such songs to work, at least for me, they have to be truly exceptional or genuinely touching--like Bel Air--and those are not for me.
If she's going to do that sort of work, I prefer Hollywood Bowl and the collab she did, Suburban House, more than half of NFR! and almost all of OB.

I'm bored so here are my predictions for the length of the tracks on the album.
Track 1 - 4:35. Perfect lenght to start getting into the vibe of the album, also I hope it's not Henry.
Track 2 - 4:20. Possible title track.
Track 3 - 3:58. Could be Henry.
Track 4 - 3:41. A song with a similar vibe as Henry, but with a catchier chorus/more potential.
Track 5 - 6:22. Lana likes to add the longest tracks at the beginning, and I don't think this album will have a song as long as A&W or Venice Bitch. Only one song over 6 minutes, but there aren't any short songs either. Unusual structure and tone change, but no transitions.
Track 6 - 3:35. A song with a "lighter" sound after the longest song on the album.
Track 7 - 5:53. A middle of the album song, darker and with real drums which means Jack didn't produce it.
Track 8 - 5:37. Longer songs in a row.
Track 9 - 5:02. The slowest song on the album which post-NFR! fans will love and pre-NFR! fans hate. I'll listen to it only to save it from the awful streaming numbers.
Track 10 - 4:51. One of the best songs on the album.
Track 11 - 3:45. A potential TikTok hit that no one expected.
Track 12 - 4:28. The most experimental song on the album with a different style. Fans will beg Lana to make an album completely in this style, but she won't listen to them and do the opposite.
Track 13 - 5:49. Another long song, but she will sing only half of it, long instrumental intro / outro.

Lust For Life seems to have more outtakes than any other Lana album, though some, like Daffodils, might be one of the 'four political songs' for all we know.
