The Right Person Will Stay - Pre-Release Thread (OUT: May 21st, 2025)

Recommended Posts

The vibes that the album gives me so far are more like Ocean Blvd, but more somber. The last layer of Ocean Blvd with Taco Truck, Fishtail or Peppers could compose the "lively" tracks that the album will have, as usual.

I hope she explores synthesizers and casual constructions, but I hope she surprises by giving them more body (with choruses, drums and bold instrumentation, like, at the very least, the sax in If You Lie Down). I don't know, but all the descriptions she has given so far make it seem like an album a bit like the Carpenters, ABBA at the beginning of their career and other bands of the time that were extremely melancholic, but still had a lyrical content that wasn't too heavy or personal (in other words, more pop).

At this point, it would be very interesting, because the whole aesthetic of that time suits Lana a lot, much more than Gaga and Mars in Die With an Smile or Sabrina Carpenter in the visuals of Shortn Sweet.

If she does that, however, and even so brings a new look that modernizes, it will be incredible. I know we shouldn't set our expectations too high, but Lana came out of nowhere in her career and invented a new genre. Since then, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens again now.

Some of you will hate me for this manifestation, but I genuinely do hope this album is a stripped back acoustic masterpiece. I was just listening to Nectar of the Gods and it so truly stark and beautiful it makes me tear up. Henry sounds really gorgeous and emotional to me so I will be totally thrilled with an album full of songs in this vein. Obviously I'll lose my mind over something more bombastic too if that's the direction it ends up going, but I'm honestly more intrigued by an album of slow somber guitar songs than I am by the Fenway intro. :cryney2:

Nectar of the gods (and heroin) are my favourite songs

add in unreleased things like earthquakes, dragonslayer, UFB and California, I’d love a stripped back acoustic album

but Henry doesn’t give me the vibe of any of the songs I’ve mentioned..

No collabs PLEASE I beg. Not needed. Release them as standalone singles, stop ruining records with throwaway collabs ughhhhh

but for TRPWS im calling back to AKA, let’s get something that has somber songs, acoustic but also has beats too. (I know LFL did too, but AKA matches that Louisiana, southern gothic feel to me). For K pt. 2 just feels like being out in the open in the hot sun

Can we please please stop manifesting "somber" vibes for this record? :awk:

Somber: having or conveying a feeling of deep seriousness and sadness.

Did you all not have enough of seriousness on sadness on the last two-three records?! Lmao

If so, please go stream Nectar of the Gods, Fingertips, Cherry Blossom, For Free,Judah Smith Interlude, Jon Batiste Interlude, Texbook, Wildfire Wildflower, Candy Necklace, Kintsugi, Yosemite, etc.

Maybe she's not gonna release singles anymore :cryney2:

Yeah; maybe she's doing what billie did last year with hmhas.

Also, if Henry is as soft and acoustic as it sounds, there's no point having it as a single imo

I actually don’t mind having no singles, as long as it comes out on the promised date (21st of May)

Me neither. Look at how great Birds of a Feather did. Made no difference.

Also, Lana's been pretty bad with choosing singles ever since NFR, so maybe it's better that way.

When I say bad at choosing singles, I mean that her non-single tracks are doing better (Cinnamon Girl, Let the Light In, Margaret, Dealer, Cherry, etc.)
