Okay first thoughts so far:

 

Super happy for Brazilians, this is a major moment for Latin American cinema.

SUCCESSION REUNION IN THE SUPPORTING ACTOR CATEGORY

 

I was actually wondering, who will get in as the 5th Best Actor nominee, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Craig were neck in neck, happy for Sebastian

 

Emilia Perez has 13 nominations, that's like 1 nomination away from tying a record, I don't understand the hype of this film amongst critics since the general public has criticized the film as well. 

 

Compared to the 2023 and 2024 Oscars where sweeps were dominated and were predictable, this one is going to be a bloodbath, a lot great contenders, some of them are easy to predict, some not and yeah, I think there will be a great variety of winners. 

 

ALSO THE SUBSTANCE BEING NOMINATED FOR LIKE 5 CATEGORIES INCLUDING BEST PICTURE THIS IS A HUGE MOMENT FOR HORROR MOVIES!!!! Because horror movies get snubbed a lot and I think the last horror movie to have many major categories recently was Get Out, I think.

so happy to see the substance and anora with so many noms, esp. mikey madison for best actress! really bummed dahomey didn't get a best doc nom. a different man was great, would've been cool to see it get more noms outside of hair & make up. edward norton getting nominated for a complete unknown– so dumb, his performance was incredibly whatever.
