i honestly don't know very much metal, i just randomly came across that song in a video, gave it a listen, and liked it

more extreme metal like that is very nice to listen to when you're upset or angry lol :really:

Ah, cool! I would recommend listening to the rest of 'Leprosy' then - it's one of those records that if you like one song, you'll probably like them all.

As for other recommendations, here's a song I always used to put on when I was annoyed at somebody specifically (rather than in a 'fuck the world' sort of mood).

Death are like Carcass, in that they have two very different 'eras' with fans of both who seem to hate the other era - either the early, boneheaded simplistic badly produced stuff (which I tend to favour), or the later, technical guitar hero stuff. Death's 'Spiritual Healing' is like their 'Necroticism', which bridges the two. I still remember the confusion and anger when Necrotiicsm came out, and how the older fans called Carcass sellouts for it. (The only comparable thing was when Hammerheart came out from Bathory, and we all lost our minds that there was actual singing on the record :lmao:

I'd definitely consider Carcass death metal, at least until they became a rock band a few years later. Napalm Death became all death metal by Utopia Banished, and Repulsion were always in their own world. Autopsy are absolutely one of the best bands ever, but I never even listened to them until about a decade ago, mostly put off by their record covers I guess! I'm not a fan of brutal death metal, so can't comment on that (except for Skinless, who are amazing).

I always liked early Carcass and was part of team “booo Swansong”. Early Carcass and bands of that caliber (like early suffocation) are what sophisticated losers could refer to as goregrind. But Death metal is an ample label as well, albeit its different from bands like Death and Autopsy from the time.

And for the Bathory debate… I think ALL Bathory is 10/10 except for the one GOD AWFUL Requiem album where they thought they were going to try and be Testament for a year. If i was alive during the release of Hammerheart i can only image i’d be amazed and absolutely star struck by it. The Viking era of Bathory is iconic to me. The thematic jump from Sign of the Black Mark to Blood Fire Death felt natural, so the jump from that to Hammerheart always felt fitting to me, although it was sonically quite different.

I don't even really like this musical, I just love this song so much :crai:

the slowed and reverbed version adds 1 million nostalgia points
