if people want to cancel a problematic person then they should cancel THAT problematic person. why do people want to criticize who’s she’s friends with, are they even friends with charli in the first place personally? i really doubt they actually interact with each other most of the time so i don’t really care. this parasocialism has gone way too extreme in the recent years. 

 

mean girls could literally be a song about a woman who’s in her mid-20s, real “intelligent” and i think it’s a sarcastic take of what a mean girl is instead of a shoutout to dasha or whoever the fuck she is. i don’t know who she is until now and that’s just proves that whatever she’s doing doesn't really make an impact.

I'm not cancelling her, I'm posting my opinion on a forum. I feel like she could have handled this way better, don't namedrop her because sooner or later she does something like this and now there's pie on your face. I agree they are not the same but at the very least she is straddling a very blurry line.

Still the comparisson to Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene or whomever still stands. You've just given a platform to her and her hatred. I'm ot calling Charli a biggot, I'm calling her an idiot. As I said, say it's about dead eyed models like Gabriette and move on.

That’s fair, I know you’re not trying to cancel her. I don’t condone her friend whatsoever & I do agree it’s not a very smart choice for charli associating herself with someone like that. People aka twitter places a lot of blame on people that shouldn’t be getting all the heat

Tbh none of know the extent of the relationship between Charli and Dashanalamadingdong. We know Charli did like, what, a feature on a podcast or something? And it's my understanding that Dashanalamadingdong said herself that "this song is about me" with literally no evidence to support it. I know there's pictures of me with people I hate. Being around/loosely associated with people for career or contractual obligations doesn't mean you support that person or their beliefs. At all. This whole controversy is as tired as I am.

edit: aside from the political spectrum, while i don’t think Charli should be “cancelled”,  i do think the criticism and raised eyebrows are valid when you invite Dasha to your own podcast, write a song about her and associate yourself with her. that on top with her being friends with Matty Healy (who has also done/said some weird shit and was very obviously the cause of her feud with Rina) just builds up.

'Cancel Culture' is really just applied peer pressure. "Oh, this person is bad? Let's go through every single person in their orbit and make them guilty by association, too! If we can't do anything about this person or make them change on a dime immediately, let's hit every possible target around them instead! They'll either end up isolated and ousted because nobody will want to be around them (but is it because people around them genuinely don't want to be associated or support something bad? Or is it that they just don't want to have their socials flooded with annoying noise from someone else?), or we'll get them to change because of peer pressure! (but did they really change? Or did they just decide to hide their behavior and take the shit to private channels of communication instead?)"
