I like it, but I don't LOVE it yet. I think it probably will grow on me though, as I feel like this is a bit of a different style for Marina (which is not a bad thing, it just needs a bit of getting used to!). I do actually really like the lyrics though, they are not the deepest lyrics but they tell a story and they do get me quite emotional!

I think NFR probably was coming on March 29 when it had the original album cover, but now she is shooting the new one (which could mean new CD, Vinyl, boxset designs, etc) so they knew March 29 would be too soon and gave the date to Billie. I think the music is finished, but the artwork is not (which is why Ben was saying the album was still being finished). And yeah, I agree that Lana still loves making music and being a singer, but is taking a step back until the era truly starts or a release date gets decided!

Okay wow this has been an eventful day I think now we should not push things any further - Lana and Ben are probably both fuming now, and although we have reasons to be mad too, we are not doing ourselves any favours by ranting in Ben's insta comments. They are likely to be even less motivated to follow through with the release schedule (when one exists) if we keep hassling them. Sure, Ben's comments are not professional at all and Lana shouldn't have released these singles if the album is not finished. But as some other members said, maybe she thought she was doing a good thing that we would like by giving us these singles, or maybe she felt they were best heard in late summer and didn't want to wait until the actual release. Of course, this should have been made clear. But what I am saying is that, I don't think Ben and Lana's intentions are bad - we have caught Ben on a bad day where he has snapped and will likely be even less responsive if we keep pushing it. Lana probably doesn't want to play games or feel like she is teasing us. At the time of posting snippets, she may well not have known of all these barriers to NFR's release.

Ben snapping at fans is not professional or excusable, but he does get quite a lot of hate from fans on a regular basis so I can understand if he gets mad and loses it sometimes. He is only human after all.

Tbh I don't mind waiting for a while until the album is released. It just would have been nice if something was said sooner instead of "top of next year", "March 29" etc. Like... if they knew they had no release date, they should have said this months ago! I am thinking March 29 was probably true at one point, but now the poetry book has had complications and pushed back NFR's release. If there were complications with the poetry book, they would have known this a while ago as well because they gave the release date to Billie. Ahhh, never mind. At least we have some info now and LB isn't going to curse Terrence!

The way I see it is that although Lana is not happy, she isn't sad or as sad as she was before. And being in between happy and sad does not need to be nothingness - she could be a bit of both, but not at either extreme. She could be going to Hillsong (not saying this is the right thing to do), talking about being an instagram baddie, going out more with her friends, etc, because she is now in a place where she feels like she can try and integrate herself into a community more and wants to belong somewhere - so I don't think these are necessarily short term solutions. Of course they are unlikely to be long-term solutions, but they may help the process of growing and learning to cope better. By doing these things and becoming more politically active she may find a sense of meaning in life, which then could help her to feel more supported and that she has a safe space to grow. I agree with you that two years is an incredibly short time to go from singing songs like TBD to LFL, which may imply she is miraculously happy all the time. But I don't think this was the case either - I don't see LFL as a happy record, I see it as Lana being in a state of confusion and a search for meaning, and recognising that it will be a rocky road to recovery or managing her sadness. I don't think Lana has ever claimed to be 'happy', but I think she has claimed to be really trying to get there, and LFL seems to be where that journey to be happy really started. I hope that doesn't come off as me being blunt or rude, it's just how I see things!

After thinking about this all day I think I have come to the conclusion that, like some of you have said, she seems to be quite insecure at the moment about herself. I guess it is this insecurity which makes it seem like she has a deep need to belong somewhere and feel part of something to help her feel less insecure. I would imagine her new friends are going to this church, and she goes with them to feel part of something and to strengthen her friendships. I am assuming she does not know Hillsong's past and has not researched it, probably because she has not even suspected there is a reason to - why would her friends engage in something with such a twisted past and present? She seems like she could be quite easily influenced as well, which would just make it more likely that she will follow what her friends do. Of course, this does not make it right that she is going. But what I am saying is that, I agree with @LanaFlowers that there is probably something going on inside herself (insecurity, loneliness, etc) which may lead her down the wrong path (which she has done many times before - alcoholism, abusive relationships). I really don't think she would go to this church, knowing their views, and donate to them - maybe I am wrong, but I just can't see her doing it. I think she is just looking for meaning in life and personal value - not going about it the right way, but I am sure she will realise this as she has done in the past.
