yeah I know that upset me too

wellll I was talking on instagram with someone about jimmy and lana and she commented because I think she was following me or something? she basically just said that they didnt date blah blah and then i asked her to tell me more on twitter. it makes sense though because my instagram is a lana instagram and shed have to be a real fan to know about the whole jimmy/lana thing to even ask her boyfriend about. she could be fake but she seemed really genuine and her twitter and instagram arent lana accounts, theyre just normal personal accounts.

if any of you have questions for this girl she said she'd be more than happy to answer them btw

yeah I honestly think K is real and I guess if jimmy never happened then we can try and relate the songs to other people and we might get closer to the truth idk

no problem at all! tbh I was excited I could finally post something in this thread hahah, the whole lack of photos is definitely another reason why the jimmy/lana thing seems like more of a fantasy.. there might be a lot of rethinking to do hahah

I've been hesitant to post this for a while because if it is true then it destroys a lot of theories, but I spoke to someone who dates Jimmy's son and she told me that Jimmy and Lana never dated. I asked her to tell me that story and this is what she said:

'Lana always was like obsessed with jimmy. She would always go to his shows and try to get him interested in her but jimmy would always turn her down because he wasn't interested. Since he was kinda off and on with his girlfriend and what not. And so her obsession just drove her to make a song about him. And it's really funny cause jimmy barely knows her and he found the song amusing actually. It's like this whole big joke. Especially since his son (my ex/friend whatever) has the same name. Just an overall amusing topic especially when I would see people thinking they actually dated. I finally broke though cause I felt bad with no one knowin the truth so there ya have it haha'

I don't know if anyone will believe me, but that's what she said to me. I spoke to her on twitter btw. I don't see any reason why she'd make this up, and it seems very possible. Yayo could still be about Jimmy, but maybe it's more a fantasy lana had... trust me I was really disappointed to read this haha

This song is pretty self explanatory so I don't know if this is necessary but IDK how it could be any clearer that lana was a go go dancer but people still don't believe

"Came tonight to put my work on display" The object of affection of some rich execs. Go go dancing is her idea of work since she never has to work since her daddy is rich

"You don't get it.." I think this is her talking to her misunderstanding boyfriend, eh doesn't agree with her doing this while she is in a relationship, displaying herself for other men.

"It's not about us, just forget about us" Forget about our relationship.. "I won't fall in love" She is still committed to this guy even though she is slutting it up in St. Tropez

    That's not about that
Feeling "electric" is an actual feeling. In other words, it's a feeling of being alive, a sense of elevation, being enlivened, feeling strong enthusiasm and joy about something.
She always uses the word in that meaning in interviews as well.

Should this go in the lyrics section or Lana thoughts? Hm...

I remember seeing in a setlist that there was a song that Lana performed a few years back called 'For Charlie' and a lot of people think that the song For Charlie is actually Aviation from Sirens. Personally, I think that Aviation is For Charlie. Aviation is about flying and jets, ect. and Charlie's Lana's little brother and around the time Sirens and the set list came out, Charlie was around 12-13 (2004-2005). It's one of Lana's few songs that feature a love interest. And I can imagine like 12 year old Charlie wanting to fly planes and stuff, haha.

The line 'it's summer and I'm committed to you' is kind of what tipped me off that Aviation is about Charlie. With Lana going to Kent and Charlie most likely staying back with the Grants in Lake Placid, Lana probably didn't have a lot of time during breaks and stuff to go see Charlie and summer break is typically around 2 or 3 months and that might be the time that Lana could really be with Charlie.

Okay, this was a pretty poorly written Lanalysis, but you guys can sorta see where I'm coming from, haha! And what do you think of Kill Kill being about Chuck because there was some mention of that...?

I agree about Bel Air and Radio not being Jimmy tracks.

But the lyrics in Lolita and JG are just too alike to be a coincidence, don't you think? Perhaps she just liked the concept, and wanted to reuse it. That is also possible.

Before Sirens leaked I thought For K Part 2 was about David Kahne, as someone stated previously.

In that facebook-interview (the one where she says "I just thought it was so sad that like, I don’t know, God had found someone so perfect for me and that we really couldn’t be together") she talks about the person she had a relationship with that influenced BTD and she says "we were birds of a feather"

In a Lizzy Grant interview she says
"My producer, David Kahne, and me got along very well because he knew that I lived in my songs, and so he just tried to make them better. He asked me in a letter what I wanted the record to sound like, and I said, “I want it to sound famous, like a sad party.” He thought that was a wonderful idea, and we began working the next day. I like to think we’re birds of a feather."

It's probably nothing, she's just using the phrase to describe different people, but I did used to think that FKP2 was about their (professional) relationship, "Use that voice, sing that song , And tell me to come on, to come on, come on" but this doesn't really fit with For K (or anything else for that matter), still, it might interest some.

I used to think K was Elvis. She's said that she was obsessed with him as a teenager, K is for King, Elvis was The King.
Elvis' body guards were called the Memphis Mafia - gangsters (not literally), and in Gangsta Boy she sings "high school, loved you from the beginning". She's also said that when she saw Elvis for the first time she was blown away by his beauty. In Lucky Ones she sings "everybody told me love was blind, then I saw your face and you blew my mind".
    In
interview (or it might be in part 2) the interviewer asks her if Million Dollar Man is about Elvis, and she says "maybe" and smiles. "One for the money, two for the show" is also a lyric in Blue Suede Shoes. When I googled it I found that the expression "one for the money..." is one used in horse racing, as in Off to the Races. And obviously Elvis fits the description in American "tall, tan/skin so golden brown" although it doesn't really makes sense that American would be about him since she namedrops him. Also, Elvis is from Mississippi (Raise Me Up). I thought that maybe, since a lot of people think she writes each song about more than one person, that she uses Elvis as a base-character and then writes autobiographically around that base... if that makes sense.

I'm sure Y&B is about Jimmy Gnecco (also Radio and Bel Air)

I just read this on wikipedia: "In Nabokov's 'Lolita', the name is used in reference to Mr Clare Quilty, the man who takes Lolita from Humbert. Carmen and Clare being both male and female names, Lolita uses them to deceive Humbert into thinking he is a woman and no threat."
I knew there was a song in Lolita called Carmen

and so I assumed that's where she got the name from. I'm not sure if it's relevant or not (God, imagine if every song she's ever written is just fan fiction about Lolita) but thought I'd share.

And this has been bothering me for a while, in the album booklet it says "Thank you to my devoted managers Ben Mawson and Ed Millett. And to A.G."
    Who is A.G.?

I think Y&B is definitely about Barrie. And probably most on Paradise. I think its safe to say they are very serious. See below.

    [from JustJared.com Nov 13 2012]

JJ: What’s the most romantic thing that you’ve done for someone?

LDR: When I met my boyfriend… we always say that the entire time we were writing for each other, but we didn’t know it until we met each other. So, you feel like even though you didn’t know the person then all the songs are for them now. That’s romantic.

You might be right when it comes to some of her unreleased discography (ie, So Legit, pretty sure Lana did not want that out) But for the obvious stuff like the Born to Die video you mentioned, I think it's Lana tbh, either directly uploading it places herself or giving it to a friend who then shares it on her behalf. Think about it, before the label had her in their tight grasp, as soon as Lana finished a project (video, song) she was in control of when it was released. She did almost all her own promotion and managed her own YT accounts, websites, myspace etc. She's probably just super excited about her stuff and before the BtD video came out she was so proud and gushed about it all the time. I know for me, It would drive me crazy to hold off until the label said it was okay when I wanted to share it right now because I was so proud of my work. That's also why she's probably being so tight lipped about Tropico because she's already had her hand slapped by Interscope too many times.

But that's just my little conspiracy theory, and I'm probably wrong lol

    In my honest opinion:
    Sirens>AKA>BTD

I think Sirens is her most personal "album." It wasn't recorded with some famous producer she was also sleeping with and it wasn't recorded for the entire world to hear. It's raw Lizzy/May. AKA is good, but there are quite a few songs I can gladly skip and I also prefer the demos of those songs. Born to Die is too...I'm not sure how to phrase it. There's too much production in it or something. I mean, there's Lana, more singers, fucking orchestras etc. etc. It's a little too much for me and it's also too Pop for me. I love Lana's voice and I actually want to hear that not some autotune-shit.

    Videos:
    Carmen>Video Games>Born to Die>Blue Jeans>Summertime Sadness>Ride>National Anthem

I have no fucking clue why everybody love the National Anthem video so much. I hate it.

Ride's monologue is much more personal, but still NA>>>

Not sure whether your paying tribute to the final scene of Lana's best video or mocking it with her expression but either way National Anthem SLAYED my whole life.

    All of this makes sense.

On the flip side, it could be about Barrie because he plays for her at his shows and I can't imagine she's writing the song without relationship permanence in mind--i.e., growing old with someone. She's currently with Barrie and it sure doesn't seem like she's just passing the time until she gets to heaven and reunites with K. This is pretty much the same reason I doubt that Bel Air is about K. It seems like she's moved on, although she continues to honor lost love. I can see why Blue Jeans or Dark Paradise would be about K because she wasn't necessarily in a relationship at the time. Who knows, maybe if her and Barrie broke up, she'd continue to sing about how that dead man was her one true love (evidently similar to the subject matter she returned to post Mike, etc, breakups).

I’ve seen the world done it all, Had my cake, now. Diamonds, brilliant, And Bel Air, now.   she's toured the world, she's made money, can afford diamonds and live in l.a.. bel air is either what she calls hollywood or she's talking about heaven, maybe she's dying/dead while she's singing this? like right before she's supposed to go to heaven?   Hot summer nights, mid-July, When you and I were forever wild. The crazy days, city lights, The way you’d play with me like a child.   from american which is about barrie too imo   Will you still love me, When I’m no longer, Young and beautiful? Will you still love me. When I’ve got nothing, But my achin’ soul? I know you will, I know you will, I know that you will. Will you still love me, When I’m no longer beautiful?   lana being vain as fuck   I’ve seen the world, lit it up, As my stage, now. Channeling angels in, The new age, now.   touring, it sounds like she's closing a chapter, like all of that is in the past (again, is this future-her singing? since she isn't giving up music)   Hot summer days, rock and roll, The way you’d play for me at your show. And all the ways I got to know, Your pretty face and electric soul.   barrie's a musician, his band kassidy is opening for her, she called the guy from video games (mike) electric but she's also said that when she looks for a partner she looks for someone who makes her feel electric so this could also be barrie   Dear Lord, when I get to heaven, Please let me bring my man. When he comes, tell me that you’ll let him in, Father, tell me if you can.   this isn't anything deep imo, she's not talking about how he may not be able to get in, she's just making sure

I know when she was asked about why she changed her name to Lana Del Rey, she said she drew inspiration when in Florida with her sister. Could she have met K there? Florida has the death penalty.

I always interpreted this as meaning K's original maximum sentence was 30 years, not that he had been in prison that long. And for the record, she was about 20 or 21 at the time since Sirens was recorded in 2005 or 2006.

What makes you think it would have to be California?
