    Madonna

Hmm I’ve been listening to Ms material lately and I’ve got mixed views- I remember liking bedtime stories a lot so may revisit that. I don’t particularly like her albums in one go- I really wanted to like erotica in particular because of the concept but the music itself is quite dated to me and messy in retrospect - like a lot of work was put into the title track and the rest was just dance pop/ house tracks with little interesting ideas…. Surprised so many hate like a virgin because it’s still probably the best to me out of her 80s decade- her emotive performance on love don’t live here alone!
  2. My main issue with avril has always been the lack of honesty- I could be wrong but you can look yourselves and I swear there’s info that hardly any of her writing is present on some of let go(matrix in particular) due to label intervention. I know for sure that she didn’t write breakaway like she claims via sources.
  3. She’s never been a punk rock artist though- it was just a fake image which even avril indirectly stated was exaggerated on marketing.sure she came up with the look but felt pressured to carry on with the wrist bands and spikes etc. Her most punk influenced albums are TBDT and Love sux but only one of them is good and it’s not the latter….
  4. Doubt it tbh- but she should work with better songwriters who refine her sometimes clunky lyrics for a 30+ year old
  5. Already happened with break away
  6. I saw this opinion posted on a website and thought it was quite dramatic? Lana has lost her edge. Her music and image is officially BORING. Her past 3 albums could have just been 1 album then she should have moved on from that sound. For some reason her stans have deluded themselves into thinking its good.

Dido and Kate Bush are clearly what fuels her(Caroline) work

Im sorry I prefer vroom vroom over pop 2 but even id have to admit that her hyperpop influence comes from that album and not vroom vroom-and you can hear it in those records. I’m also not really sure about the Caroline comparison at all who is not hyper pop or vroom vroom influenced- her sound is art pop and trip hop influenced

    Charli XCX

Vroom Vroom is a great body of work but the short length + paradise which reviewers were correct in saying lacked any personality are major detractions. It is truly her last release where her vocals were on top form- her vocals are smooth and have great belts like in secret. the secret demo is also better

Her rap technique is identical to wind it up

It really wasn’t- the only thing it did do was innovate car noises but even that was a gimmick that had no impact retrospectively

None of the songs on that album sound anything like secret though- it’s more sweet escape if anything

We all need to learn to understand subjectivity I said vroom vroom isn’t particularly fascinating or boundary pushing to warrant me relistening to it- not thats it’s the worst thing ever made 😭

N1A feels like a greatest hits compilation to me and I still think it’s odd how Atlantic label didn’t release it commercially as an album to this day.

I actually really liked the vroom vroom EP at the time- it was interesting and odd. I remember the critics were vicious about it though. it’s still not bad but it didn’t age aswell for me- it’s sound isn’t as nearly as interesting or unique as when it came out.

This doesn’t make arca better tbh I want to hear azealias demented reply
  23. i feel like a Rihanna folk album would be bizarrely interesting vocally- she has a really intense vocal so would keep it fresh.
