  1. Jazzmin liked a post in a topic by stadiumarcadium in Lana's Music and Color Synesthesia
Synesthesia is a funny thing. When I was younger I always wondered why the hell I relate almost random colors to things like songs, letters or weekdays and thought everyone would do that. Sometimes there's not even only colors I see in my head (I'm an associator) but complete settings and feelings, an example for that is Bel Air. It paints pictures in my head and I love songs that do that. Some songs also mix up the color and setting thing. Sadly the whole thing used to be even stronger when I was a child but well.
Let's pick ten random Lana songs. Most of Lana's songs are really dark to me so I try to also think of some brighter ones.

    American - golden, sunset-ish
Yayo - very dark, almost black
    Brooklyn Baby - bright blue/green
Cola - a very dark blue
Gods and Monsters - a mix between golden and black
    Body Electric - dark blue
    Diet Mountain Dew - gray
Fucked My Way Up To The Top - dark green
    Burning Desire - dark red
    Video Games - blue
    Ultraviolence - dark gray/black

Before y'all run wild with this, I want to caution you to remember to black out names and avatars of private individuals and also not to post any mass dumps of her statuses.

isnt the entire song butterflies pt. 2 a reference from a passage vladimir nabokov wrote about his book lolita...?

    http://chloeapenglish.blogspot.com/2009/06/motif-in-lolita.html

he talks about how butterflies are fascinating in that theyre "fairy-like" "dainty" creatures, and in an attempt to get closer to the butterfly to possess it, the butterfly becomes damaged and essentially ruined, which is the metaphor of the story in lolita (middle-aged man obsessed w/ young girl because of her pure innocent image)

But at the same time if butterflies part 1 is about the same person as Butterflies part 2 then I feel like the guy from the part 1 isn't about the cult leader idk

I named my daughter after Lana so they're all aware she exists. One of my sisters is a stan but the rest of my family thinks she's an annoying extension of my "emo phase"

Okay so I just wanted to share a random thought I had today and pose a question to y'all.

I was reading this interview for the first time today and she directly compared UV's sound to The Eagles. My mom used to always play The Eagles in the car while growing up. Now when I visit home she always plays that satellite radio station "70's on 7" since that was the era she grew up in, and occasionally they play stuff like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, etc. and it got me thinking. I already kind of thought this but never really shared it with anyone, but UV probably had me hooked because I was raised around that type of music and it's kind of familiar to me (though I definitely wasn't exposed to psychedelic type rock as a kid lol )

I have 3 older sisters who drove me around a lot when I was younger, and they played a lot of Tori Amos, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, etc. They're particularly obsessed with Bob Dylan. I remember they would always tan in the backyard while listening to the Beatles too lol. Lana actually reminds me of my older sisters tbh, which is probably why I’m so obsessed with her (a lot of my siblings and I moved away from each other around the time BTD and UV came out, and I kind miss them a lot sometimes). Also the youngest one got into a lot of rap music when she was in high school (she smoked a lot of pot lmao) but my older sisters were not those kind of girlies.    Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that Lana’s music seems kind of like a natural midpoint of all these different artists. I mean, she’s an individual and isn’t exactly like any one of these artists, but it’s really cool how she pulls a lot from these genres I was exposed to as a kid. I’m really thankful to have her as an artist in this day and age, because there’s absolutely no one like her in this kind of space. The nostalgic feeling she evokes for me is really unique, which is why I always get super duper excited for her releases.    I haven’t introduced her to any of my siblings or my mom. I remember playing “Blue Jeans” in the car while my mom was teaching me how to drive but she was too busy teaching me how to drive to comment on the music I was playing lmao. I'm honestly not sure how they would react, and I barely have an idea of what they listen to nowadays. There’s no natural way to bring her up at our family holidays tbh, but I would say she was my favorite artist if they ever asked me.    Anyways, sharing the musical interests of my family was basically a roundabout way of asking y’all: Does your family like Lana? Do they have an opinions on her? Do they know who she is? Do you think any of the music your parents/siblings like passed onto you? Any of it related to Lana?
Honestly I've thought about bringing her up (when the opportunity presents itself--I don't want to be an annoying campaigning stan), but I know I would be so triggered if they trashed her or had some pre-conceived negative opinion on her.

my dad hardcore stans Jimmy Buffett and didn't interact with me that much as a kid so there's that too

I'm just going to speak about the witch thing:
I do think that perhaps the whole witch thing could be for aesthetic purposes, but we don't know Lana personally to make any kind of judgement on that.
Her motive? Perhaps for promo/marketing of an upcoming music video, a political statement, or just plain truth. But we do not know, so we can't judge.
I think Lana is spiritually and religiously open minded so it's possible she is getting into different things. Why dislike her for that?
Also, witches aren't hexing Trump, any advanced witch/practitioner knows if you hex or use Magick for bad, it'll come back around to you twice as bad (karma). It is merely to cast spells to protect Trump from making bad desicions in the near future.

I've updated the original post. High time, TBH. I wanna add a longer description (which hopefully won't come off as very cheesy) but what's up there now will have to suffice for the time being.

    Spasibo ogromnoye!

    As for "Cute Aggression":

I love it how she has more possibilities in terms of production and how she can experiment with various sounds now. I listen to her bedroom-made stuff with as much pleasure as to her newest works and find them quite as good but I'm terribly glad that, so to speak, a whole world of new options opened for her. Would've never expected it back in 2014. Damn, I think my freaking destiny is such that I have to adore every song Nicole creates and it's freaking fantastic.

There's one little thing, however... IMHO, the lyrics of "Cute Aggression" are very good (and they fit that super catchy rhythm of the song which I really appreciate) but all Nicole's songwriting prior to this track made me nearly fall off my chair at the first listen, so amazing was it.

The music is not nice, it's marvelous! I love it so. And on top of that, I'm diseased by the egregious need to listen to it.

"the education of koko" by francine patterson and eugene linden. it was written in 1985 and documents the story of a young female gorilla and her teacher (patterson) who adopted her from zoo captivity and successfully taught her american sign language, making koko the gorilla the first of her species to learn a human language

im super interested in this kind of stuff

@The Blackest Day read my second comment.. She possibly wrote the song back in august or september of 2015- yes, trump was in the race at that point but his candidacy was a huge joke.. plus, lana, back in February 2016, made a comment to Elle magazine about how she needed to study all the candidates more to form an opinion on them- and this included trump.. so I don't think Lana was very politically involved in the campaign up until very recently. (as in the summer of 2016)

Salvatore is a terribly boring song. Her italian accent is terrible and the song in general is just too cheesy plus I can't get over the fact that she fuking sings "calciatore" (football player) at one point worse than dark blueee

Honeymoon is my favorite album.. it sounds so mature and I can relate to it so much.. like to me it seems like a big growing point for her. And I also love that it almost has this like Italian vacation feel- especially in Salvatore (duh) and Terrence loves you. It's just such a beautiful and poetic album.
