  1. I love Stevie but I agree that it should have been solo. Even lana said she was pretty much looking for any strong woman to be on the album to attempt balancing out all the male features, and it didn't even work in the end. Had it been solo, it would have been quite a beautiful ending for that song and much more personal.

I don't think The Devil is her best but I definitely vibe with it. It reminds me of The Altar a lot, but honestly just all her feirce songs in general. She never releases anything that "doesn't sound like her" if ygm. Music video is amazing. Sexy Halloween song for sure.
  3. Yes, i need to update my Weather in Lana's Music blog post, and it would indeed be easier to copy + paste all of the new lyrics
  4. Okay thats a good sign I think I just need to be in the mood for the slower songs. They've always been good on her other albums

I love the EP. Breeders is right up to my top 3 Poppy songs.

    Grimes

Even though I believe grimes music is at its best and always getting better, I've been feeling super nostalgic for Halfaxa and Geidi Primes lately. Nothing can outdo the chaos of GP or the dreamland of Halfaxa. I even prefer them to Visions tbh. I miss the times when there were literally no other artists like Grimes. But I am in no way ungrateful for her current music. She really is one of the best.
  7. I haven't even listened to the album in full yet. I do like Highly Emotional People, but on first listen of the others in the last half, I was not super impressed. BUT since I love half of the album, this is a total success for me
  8. Happy 7 YEARS ULTRAVIOLENCE I may or may not periodically spam this thread because this era will never be dead to me
  9. The Venus Fly Trap video/song is so good! Now I can't decide if this or Oh No! is my favourite video. For some reason I love the way she does campy shit. She makes it work so well.

She's coming for us. She's going to slay
  11. Thanks for describing it!, I'm excited and pretty sure it will give me "what I want" trying to say that without seeming like a selfish fan who wants her to sellout lol I'm gonna brace for the cringes, but I hope they don't ruin any of the songs. As long as they're not as bad as the H***** W******** reference in PTP I can handle it
  12. Im not expecting it to top Electra Heart or even Froot, but I just want at least half the album to be great. Sounds like it is?
  13. I would feel very good about that
  14. West Coast which I can't shut up about lately. Ultraviolence, The Blackest Day, Yes To Heaven, Wildflower Wildfire Are you trying to give me a heart attack?
  15. Not exactly a mention but Garbage once again references Lana, putting West Coast on a playlist of songs they've been listening to in the mood of their upcoming album

Found a post on things you might have missed in K-12
  17. I missed the 7 year anniversery of the Shades of Cool single release, May 26th, because I was so preoccupied with the blood moon eclipse. so Happy 7 years to the Ultraviolence single (i'm a day ahead ik, cause i live in Aus) I don't think any other songs production has wowed me as much as hearing this studio version for the first time. The wah wah guitar in the chorus. The jarring piano against the strings. The layered vocals all throughout the song and especially in the end where it crosses over FMWUTTT lyrics. This masterpiece of a collaboration between Dan Heath and Dan Auerbach. next is Brooklyn Baby on Tuesday the 8th
  18. Omg that's painful haha but oh well at least they have taste too. I definitely know people who consider their lana-listening a phase, like "oh remember when we all did XYZ and listened to Lana Del Rey?" And it low-key offends me because lana is not a phase to me mom
  19. Im not even seeking these videos out anymore. The channels I already watch a lot are just making them so I tune in when I can. I think this one is very good. The only thing I'd say I disagree with is only a personal opinion. Lana's music never made me sad- it made me happy. And when I was actually going through depression, her music got me through because it was beautiful and made me realise that even when I'm like that, there is still colour in me and colour in the world. I never romanticised being sad listening to Lana, and in fact when I was at my worst, crying in my room night after night, I would not be listening to any music at all. But when I got out of it, I was happy to start listening to her, trying to live again. Can anyone else relate? Like what do you think of the stereotype of Lana fans being sad or fake-sad teenagers trying to be the pastel grunge aesthetic?
  20. Such a good idea, thank you! I remember her saying she listened to Sublime almost every day, but I really wonder which others (other than doin time) she meant. She also shared Handmade Heaven by Marina on her insta but idk if it was just in support or if she actually listened to it more than once ahaha Also, once I remember her saying that she would like to collab with Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes) and wish I knew which of her songs she likes too.

So the original is by Jack Off Jill? I listen to a few of their songs- mainly strawberry gashes, but can't believe I didn't know this one. I love Poppy's cover! She gives it a really early-mid 2000s vibe, and for some reason reminds me of Camp Rock wtf hahaha. Way better than that obviously. I just really want Eat to be released tho.

Cake deserved to be its own mini-era. Imagine Cake and Gingerbread Man being the centre of an EP
  23. The only time I've heard Marina anywhere was Fear and Loathing in The Vampire Diaries. It was a subjectively hot scene though
  24. I love TNBAR instrumental- forgot to say that. Definitely liked his work with Lana more than Jack's. LFL instrumentals are actually fascinating as hell
  25. I thought hearing the NFR intrumentals would change my mind about the album, making me like it more, but sadly they don't. It just gives me even more of an ability to pick out where I wish things were different (e.g. the strings not being so muffled. I wish they were clearer). I can hear more of Jack's editing where he makes instruments jump in and out randomly, and to me it just sounds like an error even tho he did it on purpose. And don't even get me started on how generally terrible HIAB and HTD are. I do LOVE cinnamon girl though, Doin Time is splendid, and I quite like California too, but it ends too suddenly.
