“Without You”

 

The first track on the deluxe version of Born to Die is an ethereal ballad about realizing love is what truly fulfills the soul. The most interesting element in the song is definitely the Omnichord played by co-writer Sacha Sharbek, an electronic instrument made in the 80s, popular for its dreamy, harp-like sound.

Oh yes, excited for this ! Born To Die... Such a special album in my heart ! 
I was a bit bored of what was being done at the time and then she just brought this breath of fresh air. I was amazed by what I was listening to: the lyrics, the melodies, the cultural references, the themes, the visuals, the interviews, the face, the vocals... It was so much ! 
Video Games (and more particularly Blue Jeans) pushed me to make videos myself and film more. I always thought: "You need to have studied editing/cinema to do these things" and she showed me that you just need a vision and love for that...
 
"Born To Die" sounds timeless (most of it)
I still can't get over "Off To The Races", the flow, the imagery, the strings, the vocals, the delivery, the hard beats, 
"Blue Jeans" is the song that stole my heart
"Video Games" is a modern classic,
"Diet Mtn Dew" is a bop and yet so melancholic (plus the demo versions are fire),
"National Anthem"'s chorus is so breathtaking,
"Dark Paradise" was so unusual to what could be heard back in the day,
"Radio"'s chorus was infectious and was on loop pretty much my whole spring/summer,
"Carmen"'s storytelling is superb,
"Million Dollar Man" needs to be a jazz standard,
"Summertime Sadness" is so gorgeous for so many reasons, those military drums swept me away, the bridge, the chorus,
"This is What Makes Us Girls" took me the longest time to appreciate but now I see the light, the lyrics paint such a vivid picture,
"Without You" is so easy to love,
"Lolita" is so dark and naughty and pow,
"Lucky Ones" is heartbreakingly naive...
 
I feel sorry for every BTD detractor who constantly feel the need to bash this superb album because the truth is; it has a strong identity rooted in a unique universe.
 
No, in all seriousness, I respect everybody's preference. Happy Birthday, BTD, a great album ! 

Lana Del Rey's major label debut Born to Die will turn 5 this month, and we will celebrate its 15 tracks during the next 15 days, until it officially turns half a decade old on January 27.

That is definitely something to think about... Though the singer in this sings very different, they sing in the same range, but edited it could sound more like lana

I've had a couple of dreams about Lana... The weirdest were those two:
 
My boyfriend and I went to San Diego. Lana happened to play a show there with her Summer Festival tour. So we wanted to go so we got on the bus. However, we missed our stop and we had to run to the venue so we could be sure to be front row. Once we were there, the doors were already opened but only a few people were there, and it wasn't a classic venue. It was basically like an outdoor bar and we got to the bar counter and ordered something, and Lana was just standing in the back with a microphone and sang. And that was the "show", just her standing back there so noone could see her and singing
 
Another dream was that I dreamt I also got on a bus (Wtf is wrong with me dreaming about busses). Lana was the driver  Because I saw her beforehand, I got on at the front to talk to her and she spoke German with me. She then went on a rage because there were 2 roundabouts right next to each other and she didn't know how she had to drive there.
 
And I also had one really beautiful dream, and I was so sad it didn't actually happen 
I dreamt that I met Lana backstage after one of her shows and we went to eat pizza and she came over to my house to sleep there. We then went on a road trip for one day together and it was awesome.

That's so interesting! I don't have any contact with any entities but I would love to contact them. Stuff like this fascinates me. I wouldn't use a Ouija Board just beacause that's dangerous, but how did you get to this point in life(in terms of communication).
Oh & in terms of Lana dreams I had one where she had a little break down in her hotel room & was done with everybody saying she was sad, boring, etc. That she leaked everything & she just put out records of total bops out of fury that they destroyed the radio & or charts. They where all unheard tracks too. They were amazing.

This one was kinda freaky to me. I have been going through some tough moments in my life and I believe/have contact with some spiritual entities often. So, one night when I was having a hard time falling asleep I asked this entity that's close to me to help me feel good again, to send me some sign or help anyhow. I went to sleep and dreamt of Lana the entire night. It was bizarre, 'cause I normally don't dream much. It's like it was really sent to me. In the dream, me and Lana just talked. We were in a room and I believe this was a way of this "entity" sending me messages I had to listen at that moment, and the Lana image was just the person to channel these messages (please, don't laugh at this, I'm serious!! hahaah). After all, I woked up better and got this weird feeling about that night that is still stuck in my head.
 
P.S.: When I asked her, in the dream, about the new record, all she told me was that she had to drive some courage and have "balls" to write it. She said it would be really surprising.

There's a sentence I never thought I'd read

I dreamt last night that lana gave an interview! In the interview she said that she loved HM & that album & with that one she was really just trying to make a statement. She also said that with this new clarity of dialogue, she can't write the sane way she used too. Basically that she feels like all of her past albums were about the same thing & that she wants to change it up a little. Her perspective was that even though she loves HM she thought it was too slow. She cited that this was a reason for her bringing back some BTD producers. She wanted an extra flare in the mix of things. About Rick Knowels, she did say that it's amazing how when you work with somebody so much over all these years that you feel so close to each other almost like a great friend or a family member. But she did say that it can also be a bit boring in the studio working with the same person.
She said the new record will be totally different from HM in every perspective, the colors, the pace, the videos everything. Lastly, she said that the new era would be & is amazing but that it is different. In fact it's very different from anything she's done & that she just hopes that all if her fans are happy with it & enjoy this new direction of sound & lyrics that she is taking.
I LOVED this dream. I plant this seed & speak it into existence! I will see it through harvest!

ugh i had a dream the mertens brite lites leaked and i remember the drums being cool. this is my first lana related dream so i hope the universe pulls through!!!

U guys ever heard this song? Ironically, it's called Young In Love and sounds kinda like Young And Beautiful mixed with some BTD sounds (the guy yelling sample in the chorus). Wouldn't be surprised if someone pitched this down a bit, recorded in low quality and sent it around

I know I barely post on here but I forgot about reading the YAIL acronym on Eclipses Twitter before. It's real, Excited. The people involved has me intrigued. I don't believe anyone else who says they have it though.
I thought the snippet really was her when I first heard it. Sigh, I would love her to have this sound right now. At least YAIL isn't as slow as Honeymoon.

I love this snippet so much, why can't she scrap everything and just make an entire album full of this I'm actually aching for this, a new surf-noir, summer, sunlight song

Almost believed this

Okay so basically this song has keys, drums, percussion, and all that good stuff and it's truly her best. There's a lyrics that goes "Baby don't you know all of them tears gonna come and go". It was also written by Tommy Brown and Victoria McCants
